Chapter 28: Eight Stars

After a minute, he resumed. "As I said earlier, it's a barbaric thought, as we are every allowed to choose which star we want to pray to even after we are not being born with that star. Now you tell me in which world the god will do that, and that's why don't ever think that god is the one who decides what we do, as it's a slander to god's generosity and a barbaric idea followed by some criminals in our nation."

Maris sat silently, absorbing the teacher's deep remarks. The idea of a divinely ordered life, in which every move and blunder was predetermined and intended, was both reassuring and disturbing.

Even if people claim it's savage, I believe all stars act In that manner, even my newly discovered 9th star is the same since it decides what I should do, such as working for an organisation that I had never known existed in my previous 25 years of existence.

I've accepted it because I don't have a choice because they want to make me strong, and in a society where strength is everything, I can't dispute that. But I'm hoping they won't go too far because they're my sole source of support, and I am not strong enough to manage by myself. 

"Well, that conversation took a while longer than I expected, but now let me just take a moment to tell you about the stars." 

He then used his wizardry to generate holograms of star figures before continuing. 

"Arcium is one of the only countries on the continent that has more than one star that people pray compared to the others." 

He then paused to demonstrate the nation's map and went on, "There are 8 states in our kingdom, each representing one of the eight stars. Seven of them are ruled by families who have been granted the status of dukes, and the eighth is the royal family itself, whose country is the kingdom of Arcium and which is home to the Gemini star, the rarest of the eight stars and often regarded as a symbol of peace, the royal family of our country, but I will tell you more about that later." 

Then he withdrew the hologram to concentrate on a single star, Aqera Hydra. 

"We have the first one, which is Aqera hydra, which is a water star, and in our country, Arcium, the state that represents and prays the most is Neridia, a state that is ruled by the Nagas family, which are sort of snake species since they have scales similar to the snake and tongues similar to the snake."

"Terra Scorpius (The Earth Scorpion) is another planetary being that represents Sylvarin state, which is ruled by the Teraound family, which is a dwarf species of human-looking species of small size, which make up more than 90% of the members of our top blacksmith." 

"The third is Lux Avior (The Light Eagle), which is the light star of Lucidia state, which is ruled by the Luminara family, which is a human species. The Luminara family has the biggest number of followers in our country and around the world, making them the most powerful star in the world."

This is the family from which my true parents and sister come, even though I didn't find much about that part of history as I found at the conclusion of my previous life. I wish to travel there and learn more about them. 

"The fourth one is Serpens Noctis (The Night Serpent), which is the dark star represented by Yami no Kuni state ruled by the Kurokage family, which are also human species, but they have a different culture than our entire country, and our continent is the only state to have a dark star." 

"The fifth one is Aeris Griffon (The Air Griffin), which is the wind star represented by Zephyrin state and is ruled by Simorghian Family elves, a human-like species with long ears that make up more than 90% of the country's Beast Tamers due to their connections and oneness to nature."

"The sixth one is Ignis Phoenix (The Fire Phoenix), which is the fire star represented by Hwaraga state governed by the Pyrohae family, who are also human beings."

"The seventh one is our state faunara representing Pardus Draco (The Panther Dragon), which represented beastbond, a special skill exclusive to beastfolks allowing to transform into a powerful beast at 100% stage while at initial states allowing the user's beast nature as a weapon like having wings of phenix while your beast is phenix. Or have claws like a beautiful wolf. And our state is controlled by the Draconis family, the migthy dragons with a lifespan ranging from 1000 to 5000 years.

"The last one, the Gemini (twin fairies), is unique in that while it does not provide any power, the user does have two stars to use, but levelling up becomes difficult and capital intensive, and if you do not level, you will not receive the feature that is available at levels 5 and 7." The state of Polluvia is controlled by the Castorvia family, who also rule our country.

"Now, at our matric school, you are all here to train in a skill that suits you best, and we are here to help you discover it. Additionally, we will provide you with basic knowledge about the country's literature, which you may not learn later on."

"However, I doubt many of you will choose to pursue literature in the future, as it doesn't offer much financial reward, and many of you have come here to secure a better future. What am I even talking about to seven-year-olds, uh? Nevertheless, as a school, we will still support you."

"Regarding skills, everyone is born with a special, unique skill that they may awaken at the age of seven or later."

Suddenly, the sound of the bell rang, signalling the end of the class. The teacher concluded, saying, "Okay, that's it for today. In the next lecture, I will discuss levels. Now, you can head to the test class, where you'll be guided in selecting your weapons, and starting tomorrow, we will begin your training."
