"Then, I'll take my leave. Thank you for your hospitality, Mrs River."
"Miss Williams, is it? It's a shame you can't stay for long. Please visit us again next time."
"I will, Ma'am."
Mrs River glanced at Jade. "What are you doing? Send Miss Williams off to the door."
Jade nodded silently, then slowly walked using his crutch. I bowed to Mrs River for the last time before following him.
After we stepped outside, Jade suddenly apologized to me.
"I'm very sorry for all the trouble I caused you."
"If you're sorry, then you'd better make it up to me by helping me."
"After I listened to you, I understand now why you acted the way you are in school," Jade said with a lowered head. "I shouldn't have done that to you just because I was suspicious of you. I'm reflecting on myself."
"Good. I'd never expected people to like me, but I at least want to be treated normally, with respect and not prejudice. That's not too much to ask, right?"
