The Guard

(Jungkook POV)

Once the pack had come together and followed us to the Council building they were ready to rush the place and tear it down brick by brick to find their Luna. We had stopped in a small tree line looking over the town center, trying to hide our large wolf bodies, and I linked with their minds and had to keep them calm until Tae and the Elders arrived. From where we stood, we had the advantage of seeing the people going in and out of the building.

There was an unusual pattern to how many would go in and how many would come out. I had seen several fairies entering the building during the time we waited, and none had come back out. Creatures of other types would enter and exit but not the fairies. It didn't make sense. I continued watching and noticed a security guard that seemed to be observing the people entering the building and I had thought maybe he was just doing his job, but he seemed off. I focused my hearing on him and tried to listen to his heartbeat. When a fairy would enter, his heartbeat would race and would remain erratic until several minutes after the person had entered the building and his phone would ding.

I linked minds with Yoongi. "Hyung, something is going on."

"What did you see?" He asked.

"That guard, he seems really on edge. He seems to be observing all the fairies entering the building and his heartbeat picks up until he gets a notification on his phone. Something is going on, and I don't have a good feeling about it." I replied.

"What are you thinking?" Yoongi asks me.

"I am not sure but from what I can see, the fairies are going in but they are the only ones not coming back out." I said.

"Where are they then?" Yoongi asks, and I can feel his anger building.

"I don't know, but I think the person we need to talk to is that guard." I said

He turned to me and nodded.

"Let me approach him in my human form and see if I can get anything out of him. If he doesn't answer, we will …."

"The pack will grab him!" Yoongi said cutting me off.

"Hyung, we don't want to bring too much attention to ourselves. It's best if we wait for shift change, and grab him on his way home." I suggested.

"If he knows where Jimin is he needs to tell me NOW!" Yoongi was losing his patience and I understood why.

I could see something was happening, something we didn't understand yet. I was trying my best to focus and come up with a plan, but Yoongi had been away from his mate too long and that was starting to cloud his judgment.

"Hyung, I know you are hurting, but let's think this through. Once he leaves we can grab him, and Taehyung can help us find out what he knows. Taehyung and the elders are still a couple of hours away. If we wait, they can help us." I tried to reason with him.

"Fine, but if he doesn't tell us what they did with Jimin I will rip his head off." He replied with a low growl.

I had to laugh a little, but I knew he meant it. I need to reach Taehyung, but we had never tried to use our telepathic link from this distance before. It was easily possible with Yoongi and the pack because the link between wolves was different, stronger. I tried to focus on him, and hoped he would sense me trying to connect. In my mind it was quiet and I just kept calling for him.

"Tae?....Tae can you hear me?" I said over and over.

I tried several times, but still couldn't get through. I was about to give up when I heard a soft whisper.

"Jungkook?" It was Taehyung.

"Tae? You can hear me?" I asked.

"Yeah! Wow I didn't think I would be able to hear you this far away! This is amazing! We won't need a phone ever again!" Tae said going off on an excited rant.

I let him, because it had been a while since he had been this excited about something.

Oh my gosh, sorry! I was so excited I guess I forgot you probably need to really talk to me if you are using our link. What's going on?" Tae asked calming down.

"It's ok, I missed your happy rants. But yes, there is a reason I am was trying to reach you. We are at the council building and I have a feeling something is going on. I am not sure exactly, but I think I have found someone who will know something, but I doubt he will talk. So, we will need your help getting the truth out of him." I said.

"If he knows something about Jimin, we will find out." Tae said, his voice becoming deep and serious.

"I am holding the pack back right now, but I wont be able to much longer. So I hope you are getting close." I said hopeful.

"We are about another hour away. You guys should grab the guy and we will meet you at the pack house." Tae told me.

"Ok! We are waiting for the guard shift change and then we will take him on his way home, away from anyone seeing us." After that we said goodbye.

I had not noticed the pack getting restless while I was linked to Tae, but when my attention was back on them, I sensed their urgency. Their emotions were strong making the scent of the air around us turn sour. It was hard for me to control my own emotions with the scent lingering in the air, they were wanting revenge and so did I. Tae had better get here soon.

We watched and about half an hour later we saw a second security guard make his way to the building. The two men had a whispered conversation before entering the building together. About 10 minutes later the first guard left the building and headed toward his car. The pack were shuffling holding themselves back until Yoongi gave them the order to rush forward and take their hostage. I knew this was not an ideal situation, and I was pretty sure we would be thrown in prison for what we were about to do, but none of that mattered right now. We followed along the side of the road waiting until the guard had reached a stretch of road with nothing much around. I scanned the surrounding area to be sure there would be no witnesses. I turned to Yoongi and nodded, and he let out a loud howl as he and the rest of the pack members rushed toward the car. I could hear the guard's heart facing as he saw the pack rush toward him. He stepped harder on the gas pedal trying to speed up and make his way out of reach of the wolves. Fool, did he forget how fast we are? We were upon him in no time and a slash to his back tired sent his car spinning off the road into an empty field.

We surrounded the car and Yoongi ripped the driver's side door off in one hard pull of his teeth. The guard inside was scared but tried to kick at Yoongi's face and slid across to the passenger side of the car. Another one of the pack ripped of the passenger door and sank his teeth into the guard's arm pulling him from the car onto the grass. Yoongi and I climbed over the car jumping down on the other side, and Yoongi let out a growl to keep the other wolves from killing the guard then and there.

"STOP! We need him alive." He said.

The others backed away dropping their head to the sound of their alpha's voice thundering in their minds. They winced and whimpered at how loud it sounded ringing through their heads. The power of an alpha at work. Once they had backed away Yoongi walked forward and gave the guard a once over before turning to me and telling me to take him. The guard was shaking and watched me approach him moving back trying to get away from me. I was bigger than the others and my wolf eyes were a frosted blue that contrasted against the darkness of my fur. Yoongi described my aura as down right scary sometimes, which seemed like an exaggeration. However, I had never shifted in front of people outside of the pack until now. Seeing the expression on the guards face confirmed Yoongi's words, I was terrifying to look at in this form.

I let out a low deep growl that made the guard freeze, and shiver in the shadow I casted over him. I knelt and waited for him to understand what I wanted him to do. He stood slowly, his legs shaking. I waited to feel him climb on my back, but with the first touch he withdrew his hand quickly. Yoongi was losing his patience again and let out an angry growl scaring the guard again, and he hurriedly climbed onto my back. The feel of his hands on my fur made me angry, but I held back my anger and followed the others as they ran toward the pack community. The sun began to set as we ran toward the pack house, and by the time we had arrived there was only a soft glow left on the horizon.

We walked toward Yoongi's house and many of the pack transitioned back into their human and waited outside as me and Yoongi entered his house. The guard climbed down and stood waiting to see what was about to happen to him. Yoongi left the room and came back in his human form and dressed. He handed me some clothes and I left the room. When I returned, the guard was sitting in a chair with Yoongi sitting on the couch across from him. His head was lowered, and I could feel his anger, but he was holding it back. I stepped into the room and he lifted his gaze to meet me, and I could see his anger but also, he was in pain. He had been away from Jimin too long and it was taking its toll on him.

I walked over to them and rested my hand on his shoulder. He stood and walked out of the room, and I took his place. As I sat I noticed that Yoongi had tied the guards hands and feet together. I let out a soft chuckle at the sight. Yoongi and his dramatic antics, never failed to make me laugh. I cleared my throat and raised my head looking at the guard who was trying to avoid making eye contact with me.

"Do you know someone named Park Jimin?" I asked him.

"N-no." The guard answered his voice shaking.

"You have never seen a wolf before have you?" I asked with a smirk.

He shook his head slightly answering my question.

"Well, right now this pack is running on their instincts to protect. The want to protect their alpha and his mate. This packs Luna. Do you understand?" I asked pausing. "Their Luna is Park Jimin."

The guard then raised his head to look at me in surprise.

"So, you did not know that huh? Don't bother lying because right now I can hear your heart beating. I know when you are lying, and right now I heard your heartbeat increase when I asked if you knew someone by the name of Park Jimin. So you know who he is, but you didn't know that the man that was just here was his mate. I suggest you answer my next questions truthfully, because if you don't I will have to resort to other methods to find out what you know." I said my voice deepening as my wolf growled deep in my throat.

Having the ability to shift did not help when my anger grew, and it took a lot not to let my wolf side loose and gut this guy for lying to me. I may have changed since I met Taehyung, but I also had become more wolf than I had been before. With my werewolf side and my amarok side growing in power, it meant that those instincts and emotions that had once been muted were stronger than ever.

"Now, I ask again. Do you know Park Jimin?" I said in a less patient voice.

"Y-yes." He said softly.

"Did you see him when he visited the Council building a few days ago?" I asked.

He dropped his gaze from me. I turned my head and looked down at him.

"You saw him that day. What happened?" I asked feeling my anger grow in me deep in my stomach.

He did not answer. My patience was running thin now, and I so badly wanted to hurt this man. He knew something, and even though he was afraid of me, he seemed more afraid of someone else.

"What happened to Jimin? Where did he go once he arrived at the council building?" I said my anger was sending waves from my body making the temperature in the room grow.

I had never felt anger like this before, and my wolf side had been trying to take over since the first lie left his mouth. I could feel the ache from the pack and Yoongi being without Jimin, and feeling their pain only made my anger worse. I had grown to see them as my friends, and after they helped me so much I saw them as my family.

"Where is he?" I asked, but it wasn't me.

The sound seemed foreign to me, it was almost a growl and the words felt more like thunder and I heard the windows shake from the sound. I was an alpha, but I was more and that sound was everything I was feeling coming out all at once into one deep sound. I had enough, I hated being lied to and I was not going to let this weak man lie to me any longer. I stood and he cowered under my gaze. I was done playing nice, and I would get the answers I wanted.

"Jungkook!" Came a voice behind me.

It was Taehyung. I turned and felt the anger melt away as my eyes met his.

"Jungkook, it's ok. I am here now. Let me help you." His voice was calm and slow.

I let out a deep breathe and kept my eyes fixed on him as he walked closer. For a split second I looked past him and I saw the pack members crouching on the floor as if they had been in pain. My eyes widened when I realized what I had done. My anger had been spilling off me and my rage had filled the whole area, and the pack could feel every bit of it. They felt the power I was releasing and it was hurting them. I relaxed my hands that had turned into fists, I was about to use them to get the information I wanted until I heard Taehyung's voice.

"It's ok now, you don't have to do this. Ok? You don't have to hurt anyone." Taehyung said walking and taking one of my hands.

His voice had pulled me back, because for those few moments before he arrived I had let my dark side out. I felt guilt instantly and withdrew into myself, and dropped my head onto Taehyung's shoulder letting out a shaky breath. He reached his hand to my hair and ran his fingers through it softly. I felt calm instantly as I focused on his steady beating heart. I lifted my head and looked at him, he wasn't afraid of me even when he saw what I could become.

"Why don't you let me try now?" He said with a slight smile.

I nodded and stepped aside as Taehyung took my place. Yoongi emerged then, and looked at me with a concfused expression. He had never felt that darkness from me before, but that would have to discussed later. He stepped toward me slowly, and I bowed my head to him apologetically. No doubt I had hurt him as well with the energy I had spread through the community.

"You ok kid?" He asked concerned.

"I am now. I'm sorry hyung I don't know what happened." I said not able to look at him.

In truth, what I had turned into scared even me.

"Don't worry about it, I was just as angry although we may need to talk about all of that later." He patted my shoulder. "I am going to check on the others, I can't stay here right now. Let me know if he talks."

He walked out and closed the door behind him. Once he had left I turned my attention back to Taehyung. He seemed very calm and was looking at the guard, I am guessing he was trying to decide if his powers needed to be used.

"Do you know who I am?" He asks softly.

"You are the Head Council's son." The man answered.

He seemed less afraid now, probably thinking Taehyung had come to rescue him or something.

"Yes I am. But I am also best friends with Park Jimin." Taehyung said his voice a little edgier when Jimin's name passed through his lips.

The guard looked up a little more confident this time. "I don't know anything." His answer seemed filled with anger.

I guess I couldn't blame him. We did kidnap him, tie him up, and scare the crap out of him with my intense alpha aura. Whoops.

"I find that very hard to believe seeing that you see every person that goes in and out of that building when you are on duty. Unless you have not been doing your job." Taehyung said with a scoff.

"I always do my job, and I never saw that guy." The Guard said raising his voice a little.

He was raising his voice to my mate! I let out a small growl at him raising his voice at Taehyung. The guard flinched at the sound; he must have not realized I was still there. Taehyung looked to me and shook his head telling me to stay put. I did.

"You see that man right there?" Taehyung asked pointing to me. "See I am his mate, and if he feels that you in any way are a threat to me, well let's just say that things will not be as civil between us if you do not cooperate. Understand?"

My chest felt full of pride hearing Taehyung words. I hadn't scared him when he saw moments earlier, he was almost seemed impressed by it.

The guard looked from me to Taehyung and back again. It looked like he seemed surprised that we were a couple. Had this guy been under a rock? How could he not have known that me and Taehyung had been bonded by now? I looked back at him and took the time to examine his features. The more I thought about it, I had never seen him before. I had not visited the Council Building often, but he was not the guard I would see. Who was this guy?

"So, I would appreciate if you answer my questions and keep the attitude in check." Taehyung said slightly harsher than how he had spoken a moment ago.

The guard said nothing.

Taehyung didn't wait for a response. "Did you see anything that could help us find my friend?"

"I never saw him." The Guard said.

I focused in on his heart. "He's lying." I said out loud.

Taehyung let out a deep sigh and turned to look at the two elders standing beside me. Elder Hae-Seong nodded slowly. Taehyung answered him with a nod of his own and turned to the guard head lowered and his eyes were closed.

"You see, my mate isn't the only one with the power to make you talk." Taehyung said lifting his head slowly opening his eyes meeting them with the man in front of him.

The guard's eyes grew wide at what he saw. I could hear his breath hitch in his throat. Because two bright golden eyes meeting his own, and with a chilling push of energy Taehyung had entered his mind.
