Linda's POV

I turn to my right and the first thing that comes to my mind is to dig the ground like a dog and bury myself as the bone.

What is it with you and digging today?

That is so true! What is it... Woah we are actually agreeing with each other. Great I'm having a conversation with myself again.

From the corner of my eye, I see Luke pacing faster and I am about to bolt once more when I notice that he was actually obvious to my being here . I sigh out of relief and continue to look about as I sit on the bench awaiting my dad's arrival. After sometime, I spring off my sit out of shock due to the angry words I hear from Luke.

He is pacing back and forth in front of his Honda, his backpack nowhere in sight. I can hear him arguing with someone over the phone. We are not all that far apart so I can clearly hear the words he speaks out.

" You bloody hell better be joking dad. " He rolls his eyes.

Wow being rude to his own father. Someone obviously did not train him right.

" like you would actually do that" he stops pacing and starts to tap his fingers on his thigh." now you want to be a dad? Where were you for the last sixteen years of my life?... "

Ohh...I guess I should not judge when I know nothing. I feel bad for him.

"...When you remember you can very well go back there." He cuts the call , Then starts panting and lays a couple of punches on his car. Lucky enough for him, he only bloodies his hands a bit and there doesn't seem to be much damage to the car , other than the broken window to the left. He looks around as if searching for somewhere or something to place his anger, when his eyes suddenly lights up with more anger.

It's then I realize he's seen me.

Oh oh!

You do know he could totally kill you and get away with it.

I look around hoping to find someone to save me this time when I realize the parking lot is empty of both people and vehicles. And I can't go back into the school. Which means...

Yep he totally could get away with murdering me.

He starts advancing towards me with slow predatory strides and a smirk on his face. I immediately start saying my last prayer because there is no way I am getting out of this.

It all happens in slow motion the sound of my father's BMW coming towards me and Luke turning to narrow his eyes at me as I get in the car.

Dad starts apologizing for being late once more while I nod my head halfheartedly. I feel my heart beating quite fast because of my narrow escape from death but my dad doesn't even notice because he's still trying to apologize. I can't even open my mouth and tell him that all is forgiven because he practically saved my life. I can't even get over the fact that I'm still alive!

As we drive home the only thing that goes through my mind is,

Damn girl you are lucky.

Hello home sweet home. I could go through all the rest of the sentimental bullshit but you'd be bored and so would I.

Dad apologizes for being unable to stay back so that I could I tell him all that happened at school today. But I don't mind much cause I know that he will make the time even if he's so tired he's about dropping to the ground. He is an amazing dad. Just having him in my life is more than enough for me.

And you said no sentimental bullshit. Let's tell that sad o'l tale shall we sniff sniff.

Yeah yeah whatever.

I run upstairs through the empty house while I change and run back downstairs to put on the TV.

After what seems like hours, Esperanza arrives just like clockwork.

It's three which means juicy gist and Spanish food. Delicioso! Or better yet my day just got deliciously sweet. Or...

Yeah you're gonna bore us just get the door!

Esperanza's just a student like myself but we don't attend the same school. Her Nana used to work for us before she got ill. Cancer can be a real bitch when not treated on time, sometimes even when treated on time. Nana is also like my own grandma and although we don't like to talk about it, we all know she's not gonna make it past this year. Either way Nana has been the one paying for Esperanza's education since she lost her parents to a car crash when she was ten. We became friends when she started coming around with Nana. Since Nana became ill Esperanza took over. Although dad offered to just pay her school fees she refused because her family is one who believes in working hard to get what you want.

I rush to open the door and Immediately engulf her in a bear crushing hug which reminds me of my injuries. " ouch!"

" Lindy yo what happened?" she asks looking concerned. She then pulls me to the kitchen so she can interrogate me and start on her work.

After we sit in the kitchen, I explain to her what happened.

She sits up looking at me shocked, then starts laughing.

" you're joking " she says in that deep Spanish accent I just love.

When she realizes how serious I actually am, she quirks her lips in that way she and Nana have of showing that they're proud of you. "this gattina just turned tigress yeah "

" uhm ranza I'm actually scared. I don't know what the hell came over me to do what I did today!" I say flinging my hands everywhere.

" woah stop freaking out okay girl. You already showed that Luke of a guy you won't be bullied. So show him you're serious and keep acting tough. "

" yeah right and just how am I supposed to do that, remember I don't fight as good as you. "

" but you fight well enough, trust me you got this . Remember when you just started here and you beat up the punk who took Mr cuddles from you. "

" yeah that and a number of things " I say remembering the pink teddy my dad got me when we moved here as well as every other thing from my past.

She winces " I'm so sorry I keep on forgetting. "

" it's okay, it's not like I can forget. Let's move on to you . So how're your studies going for the scholarship exams."

" Great actually. I'm actually almost done with the advanced chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics. " she says smiling, glad for the progress she has made so far.

" I just got started on those! Though a couple are still giving me problems. " Yeah we're smart but we're not nerds.

Uh huh keep deceiving yourself.

" She's so talking to you right now." She starts laughing. " girl you're different kinds of weird but it's cool. "

" what's so cool about having a conversation with yourself."

" like I said weird but cool. It's like this, once you start getting bored during history, you could totally start a conversation without getting caught. "

" you're making fun of me you're so dead."

She yelps and I chase her around. After she threatens me with no food I let her go so she can cook and also clean the house.

I really don't know how she does it.

We watched twilight and breaking dawn. Then she had to go for her next job, babysitting. I know kids are cute and all of that but wait till you hear some stories Esperanza has told me you'd change your mind.

Either way I still love kids.
