The giant mechanical fist came down like judgement had been defied by Eijiro!
There was a power struggle between him and the machine!
-Crack!
'Ugh, my hardening! Damn, bulletproof is enough, but the weight behind the punch,' he held firmly. His stance worked, seconds went by, and a large beep echoed.
"AND THAT'S GAME, FOLKS!" Present Mike yelled, and the robot moved its fist back.
Feeling the weight gone now, he fell to the ground. "Huff, phew, it's over," he steamed, going out of his hardened state.
Soon, medics and helpers entered the city. Getting up, he sprinted to the nearest person who was trapped under a robot, hoping to help. As he got close, he heard their conversation: "I'm one of the actors planted as a test that the girl under the rubble isn't. Help her first. I'm fine."
The person said, pushing the mech of them, "Scenarios?" he said, making his presence known.
They turned their heads to him, exhaling, "Yeah, I was planted as a scenario to see who would help rescue the injured; the girl you saved was also a test. However, there was an actual student who got into trouble, but you saved her and me, too."
'Ah,' he understood, and they told him to leave the rest to them. Nodding, he left, all the while thinking about the scenarios.
"So they set up scenarios like these, but that was dangerous; someone could've gotten hurt! But then again, how many rescue points could I have gained?"
Whatever, I guess all I have to do is wait for my results."
"Hey, Eijiro!" Mina called to him, "I heard you stopped the big bot on your side!" She stopped in front of him beaming, "I heard you were so cool and took its punch like they were nothing!"
Aha, yeah, I did." It felt weird being praised, especially by someone he knew was praised more than he ever got in middle school. "How about you?"
Smiling, she pumped the air: "I did great too; I melted all those bots into puddles and even helped some people as well."
...
After changing, the two decided to take a detour and stop for some smoothies. Mina suggested celebrating their success in the exam.
"So there was a secret test to gain rescue points?" She hummed, slurping her drink, "So I must have gained some too, but you stopped the big one protecting all those people, so you probably got more than me."
"Mn, maybe I even scored the highest!" He patted himself on the back with a grin.
She chuckled at his remark, "Maybe… you seem to have changed from the wimpy guy who was crying."
"Hey, quit calling me that! I'm manly now, and when I get to UA, you'll be seeing a whole new Kirishima with red hair and no more wimpiness—once I dye it, that is." He finished slurping his shake.
"Gasp! Dye it pink like me!" she pointed to herself. "We can be pink buddies!"
"Hmph, after calling me a wimp, no way pinky, red is cool."
She pouted before going back to her normal self, saying, "Fine, then suit yourself, but you're missing out."
...
[Kirishima household]
When Eijiro returned home, he found his mom inside. Seeing him, she went to hug him immediately, showering him with the utmost care.
"Did you get hurt? How was it? Are you hungry?" She bombarded him with all sorts of questions.
"Good Mom I'll tell you all about it."
As they sat down, he went over everything, including the people he saved, the robots he fought, and especially the climactic end with the zero-pointer.
"Aya, my baby's going to UA!" She squealed, hugging him tightly.
"It's not set yet, Mom, but yeah, I think I'm getting in!" He smirked and said, "Oh, and I'm also going to buy some red hair dye."
"Oh, like Crimson Riot?" she raised her brow.
"Yep!" He smiled.
Later that day, after changing to something casual and his father coming home, they sat down at the dinner table and had a blast talking about all sorts of things.
"So… when are you going to get a girlfriend?" She asked.
"Huk! Not right now," he choked on his steak before answering
"What about that Ashido girl? I like her."
Rio did nothing but keep on eating, even when Kirishima sent him a signal for help. He ignored his son.
"I'll think about it, but you know how I'm going to be a superhero, so that comes first."
Hm, alright, so long as you don't rule it out then." She shrugged and went back to her meal.
"Honey, this is great." His father added.
'Traitor!'
...
One week passed in the blink of an eye, and Eijiro was standing in front of his door, checking through the mail like usual, different from before, though his hair was dyed red. His long red hair was tied in a ponytail.
He flipped through the letters, finding the one addressed to him: "It's here!" He shouted, and seconds later, rumbling was heard from the second floor, and his dad fell downstairs.
"What are you waiting for? Open it!" He shouted on his back.
He did so and pulled out a metal disc; it beeped, and a hologram appeared.
"I am here! Allmight!" The legend himself appeared on screen, and they watched each other holding hands.
"Young Eijiro, you are by far the most exceptional student we've seen. I'm sure you are aware that we have been looking closely at your performance. You are not only capable of smashing villains left and right; heck, I was impressed when you ran head first and took that giant punch."
"You saved a life that day; you saved multiple lives, and for that, I commend you. Your results and the letter you've sent embody what it means to be a hero. I wanted to invite Crimson to give you this message since you're such a fan, but he was busy."
"What!?" He shouted to the screen that his parents were sharing his shock by tightening their grip.
"But I couldn't, and for that, I am very sorry, but let's get to the great part about your results! In your written tests, you passed well, and in your combat against villains, you scored 50 points! a commendable score indeed!"
"50, is that good? Is that good!?" Rio shook him back and forth, "I don't know either, Dad."
Rio, let Allmight finish.
"But that is not all! In your efforts to help and rescue others, we, the judges who have been silently watching, have awarded you 55 rescue points! A total of 105! You have scored first place in this Exam! Take pride, young Kirishima, and smile. Welcome to UA, to your Hero Academia!"
"F-first place! I did it!" He jumped with his parents and said, "I did it, haha! I'm in UA!"
"You made it in UA!" Both cheered for him, gathering in a group hug. It was time for his heroic academics.
After a night of celebration, he slipped into bed, ready to sleep the day off, but was pulled out of his state by his phone buzzing; it was a message from Mina.
["You scored 105 points! Wow, congrats! "] -Ashido
["Wait, how do you know?"]-Eijiro
["Allmight mentioned you in my recording, which I also got in UA! Thank you for asking. -Ashido
["Congratulations Mina! [Wait, are you in class 1A?"]
[Yeah, we're in the same class; let's sit together!"] -Ashido
'I don't know how, but I can feel her enthusiasm.'
...
In the springtime, in his house, Kirishima was putting on his new uniform. Once done, he sorted his hair and hardened it like he planned, with two horns protruding and the rest tied in a ponytail.
'Awesome!' He flexed through his outfit, beaming a smile, packing everything as he went downstairs.
"My baby is growing up," his mother squealed and went to hug him, "are you packed? everything set?"
"Yep!"
"Alright then," she kissed his forehead, "good luck."
He left with a smile, excited to begin his journey. It wasn't long before he arrived at the academy.
"Wow, you look different! You even hardened your hair; I still think pink would be better, but red suits you," Mina said, appearing behind him.
"Heh, thanks," he said, rubbing his head and blushing lightly. "Hm..." she squinted her eyes, moving closer. 'He's got horns like me now.'
He coughed, snapping her out of her daze: "Come on, let's go."
"Lead the way, Number One," she said with a grin.
