Chapter 9 - Your Father Was A Hot-Blooded Man

"In this case, Let's rent a truck and load everything in it first. We can unload it later."

"Good idea!"

"As expected from Dad!"

The two brats have transformed into the liking dog mode. Something seems fishy. They only do that when they want something.

"Dad, let us go with you. We can help with the moving"

"Yes. Look! Look at these Gains."

I know it. They are looking for another chance to get rid of work.

"No."

"You two still have to clean the underground parking lot."

I gave my father a Thumbs Up in my heart. Really a Nice one.

"Noo! Dad Please!"

"Let Laith do it!"

S*it, they plan to drag me into this.

My father shook his head not agreeing and said:

"He still has his tasks to do"

Then he looked at me.

"You wait here for a minute."

He turned around and went to his room.

I took the chance to grab the two sneaky figures trying to run away.

"haha! Laith what do you want?"

"Laith didn't you hear what dad told us to do? We still have such a big parking lot to clean."

The twins were like two little chickens caught from the neck. Pretending to be busy.

"Yesterday and today, the two of you have been quite daring. Tell me what gives you the courage."

I have not forgotten about them making fun of me yesterday.

"Saif, did we say anything?"

"Sinan, I Think Laith is trying to frame us illegally"

Hehe! Trying to get away with it, no way.

"Saif and Sinan were making fun of me too!"

Suddenly, my sister Leya, the youngest of the family joined in and said.

"Last week I gave them money to buy me some things from the grocery store and they didn't return the rest of the change!"

Juri also seems to have some beef with twins. That just sealed their fate.

""Let goo!""

They tried to struggle out of my grasp, hoping to run away.

"Mom! Help!"

"You can't beat us, that is child abuse!"

*slap* *slap*

Two slaps on the back of the neck were all they got.

"Ahhh! My neck it's Broken!"

"I am dying! Call the Fire Department!"

Rolling on the ground while holding their necks, they started crying loudly for help.

"Okay you two, get up and stop shouting so loudly."

Mother has had enough it seems.

"Stop making fun of other people, it's ok in the family but if you made fun of the wrong people outside, you could land yourself in big trouble."

"Some people don't care about the Law; Beating is the best result you can get from them."

"And return the money you owe! Since when did you have this habit!?"

Finally, someone other than me is getting lectured.

However, she was right to do so. Law and Order haven't been good recently. Economic troubles are always accompanied by instability. And it will lead to corruption, which opens many 'Back doors' for illegal activities and violations.

*open*

Hearing the door open, everyone looked over. We saw Father coming out of his room at this moment, ending the twin's miserable situation.

"What did you do to make your mother angry?"

Hehehe! It seems not.

And here comes another lecture. (A/N: I was tempted to write the scolding to increase the word count.)

Luckily for them, it didn't last long as we have more important things to do right now.

Father looked at me, hesitated for a second then he seemed to make a decision.

"Here take these"

Only then did I notes, he was carrying a bundle of cash in one hand, and another rectangular wooden box in the other hand.

He handed me both.

The cash I could understand what it's for. It is used to buy fuel and other necessities. However, what made me puzzled is the rectangular wooden box, which I have never seen before.

""""What in the box?""""

Before I could see what was inside the Box, my siblings started clamoring, each craning his neck wanting to see the content.

Mother had a frown upon seeing the box. It looks like she knows what is inside.

"Why are you giving him such a dangerous thing?"

She asked Father with a bit of a bad tone.

Father gave her a side look but did not reply. Then he gave me a head gesture with an 'Open it' kind of look.

Not stalling anymore, I opened the box.

*shine* *shine*

*wow* *gasp*

What a beauty. My siblings agree with me from the exclamation sound beside me.

Inside the box is a Pistol. A mate Black pistol, outlined with silver lines. A small 'H' initial is engraved on the gun handle; I assume it represents our family surname.

Besides the pistol, there are 3 full magazines alongside 5 rows of 12 Bullets inside. Considering the magazine can hold 12 bullets each, there are a total of 96 bullets inside the box, not counting the magazine already loaded.

"Since when did we have a gun in our house?"

Barely pulling my eyes from the gun, I look at my father and ask him.

"It's not 'We' have, this gun is mine. It's only being lent to you temporarily."

He replied with a pointed look. Warning me not to think about anything funny.

Stingy old man, don't change the subject.

"Okay Okay. But really, when did you get the gun?"

"I thought we only had hunting rifles at home."

I was really confused. My dad is a professor at Le University, and he is not the type to mess with guns.

He stayed silent for a minute then shrugged and did not say anything.

Surprisingly, my mother was the one to answer my question.

"You don't need to wonder. Your Father once was a hot-blooded young man. Once, he encountered a gunfight between two groups of gangsters while studying abroad."

Hearing this, all of our attention has gravitated to my mother. seeing the look of anticipation from our faces, she smiled.

"Since you guys are interested let's start from the beginning. It's a cliché story actually. At that time there were some problems in the country your father was studying in."

"Some gangs started appearing to take advantage of the situation, stealing and taking 'Protection' money. Let's call them 'Bad' gangs."

*crunch* *crunch*

I don't know how they did it, but someone passed us bags of potato chips and the crunching sound resounded. Let's ignore Father's pissed expression.

"Other gangs were formed to really protect the residents; its members are from the communities they were formed in. let's call them 'Good' gangs"

"One 'Bad' gang wanted to get rid of a 'Good' gang, but after trying for more than a year they weren't able to."

"Until they got the news that the daughter of 'Good' gang Boss was going to be at a certain place at a certain time. An ambush was laid."

my mother stopped to take a sip of water.

I have to say, even if the story is really cliché, being told by my mother and knowing it involved my father, even with lack of details, is kinda exciting.

"Mom, Please continue!"

"Come on mom, don't stop talking"

"Mommy!"

The three youngest brats couldn't handle the suspense, so they started asking her to continue talking.

"The 'Bad' Gang almost succeed in capturing the 'Good' gang Boss's daughter"

*gasp*

"They managed to separate her from her guards. While she was running away, a young man driving a Chevy saw her from a distance running toward his direction."

We collectively turned to look at my father's expressionless face. He didn't seem to care.

Then we looked in mother's direction, asking her to keep ongoing.

"The man was young and hot-headed at the time, he watched too many action movies. seeing such a scene in real life he.... waited for the next chapter happily."

meow!

second day after getting vaccinated.

I felt a little bit sleepy all day long but wasn't able to get a wink of sleep.
