The Universe Over

Unbeknownst to humanity, an asteroid twice as large as the one that ended the reign of dinosaurs is set on a collision course with planet Earth. In just over a year, all human life will be extinct, as well as most non-human life on Earth as well. That is, unless the Galactic Peace Committee helps to redirect the asteroid off of its course. Which they are more than willing to do, since Earth has wonderful biodiversity and a large race of sentient beings. So what's stopping them? Well, the GPC has been avoiding humanity for centuries as they wait for the human race to make peace amongst themselves, as no race is able to join or reap the benefits of the GPC unless they can first achieve peace without outside help. So, most of the GPC is content in letting humanity be erased from the universe. That is, until a single important member convinces them to give humanity a chance at proving themselves worthy. That chance comes in the form of an ordinary University student, who must spend one year in the GPC, and prove to the intergalactic community that Earth and its creatures are worth saving.
