The shores of Love

My friends and I wanted to write these stories in honor of our dear friend Katelyn Young. She was married to lieutenant Scott Gayle. He was a lieutenant in the navy. Now before I get to far ahead of myself. My name is Bianca Stevens. I am married to a wonderful woman named Jessica Kurtosis.

Anyway let us begin on how we all met Katelyn and what she meant to each and every one of us. This first chapter will tell you how she met her husband Scott. Katelyn was working as a paramedic. One night her and her partner were driving someone to the hospital after a shooting had broken out at a near by public high school.

This patient was rushed into the emergency room . After they did that Katelyn went to go get coffee from the coffee shop that was inside the hospital. Scott came and sat down beside her.

Katelyn said"are you waiting for some type of news on a patient?"

Scott said "no one of my friends was caught in a domestic violence case."

Katelyn said "was it a woman or a man?"

Scott said "She is a woman. Her name is…"

Katelyn said "you don't have tell me her name. I just think that hitting a woman is totally wrong."

Scott said "I could agree with you. Hey do you want to go out sometime?"

Katelyn said "sure."

Then she left. The next few dates went by like a whirlwind for her. On their last date she got to meet his two daughters. His oldest was 16 and his youngest was 5. Their names were Faith and Gabriella.

Faith said "Daddy are you going to give her the present?"

Gabriella said "Yes he just waiting for the right time."

Faith said "Is that true?"

Scott said "yes dear."

Katelyn said "what present little Faith?"

Scott pulled out a small box from his pocket. Then he got down on one knee and said "I know we have not been dating for a long time…"

Faith interrupted and said "Will you be our new mommy?"

Scott said "Katelyn will you marry me?"

Katelyn said "Yes I will marry you."

The next day they were married in a Louisiana courthouse. Then they drove to the base that Scott and daughters lived on which was in Florida. The house that they all lived in was huge. It had six bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Katelyn said "this house is huge. I mean how many families live in this house."

Scott said "just one but it just double in size but we do have a lot of over people over sometimes. Would you like a tour?"

Katelyn said "no I am sure that I can find my way around. Who is the woman in some of these photos?"

Scott said "those are pictures of my late wife."

Katelyn said "what happened if you don't mind me asking?"

Scott said "She passed away."

Three weeks later was when she met me. I was an OBGYN doctor at the women's clinic that was just off base. Anyway one day I was helping her with unpacking some boxes. That was when I found some drawings.

I said "are these yours? They are amazing."

Katelyn said "yes. Will you excuse me? I really don't feel so good."

I said "Here how about you sit down. Could you possibly be…"

Katelyn said "No or least I don't think so"

I said "trust me I know the truth and you really should go lay down. It will probably help…"

That was when she had fainted. So I caught her in my arms. Then I lied her down on the couch. Then I called 911 on my iPhone. Thirty minutes later the ambulance showed up. They had asked me if I wanted to follow in behind them.

I said "No."

I then called Scott and told him that I would pick up Faith from school and Gabriella from cheerleading practice.

Scott said "What happened to Katelyn?"

I said "She is in the hospital."

Scott said "ok I will be right there."

I said "Alright."

Scott drove to the hospital. While I picked up the girls from school and cheerleading practice.

Faith said "Where is mommy?"

Gabriella said "Yeah where is Katelyn?"

I said "she is in the hospital. So how was school and practice?"

Gabriella said "Good I was voted captain."

I said "That sounds exciting. What about you Faith?"

Faith said "I drew a picture of my family."

I said "That is beautiful. So do we want to go straight to hospital or do you want to get some ice cream."

Gabriella said "Let's go see Katelyn and then afterwards we can get some ice cream."

Faith said "I want to show mommy my picture."

Meanwhile at the hospital. Katelyn woke up.

Scott said "You are awake."

Katelyn said "yeah, um what happened?"

Then the doctor said "you fainted."

Katelyn said "Oh."

Scott said "does she have something serious ?"

The doctor said " Oh heavens no. Your wife should be fine within 9 months

Katelyn said "Huh?"

The doctor said "congratulations you are pregnant."

Scott said "Oh that explains why she fainted and the nausea that she has had for the past two weeks."

Then I came in with the girls.

Katelyn said "I guess you where right."

I said " About what?"

Katelyn said "About me being pregnant."

I said "Oh."

Faith said "Mommy I drew this for you."

Katelyn said "It is beautiful."

Gabriella said "Are you feeling okay?"

Katelyn said "Yes I am fine.

Faith said "Mommy sick?"

Katelyn said "No but you going to become a big sister."

Faith said "Yay."
