Chapter 1The Girl

A girl barely dressed with her teared up clothes, that exposed more than protected, was walking down the streets of what used to be a beautiful city, with beautiful buildings. Now it was a broken down place that wafted with the scent of death everywhere one went.

Even as the girl walked forward with barely any awareness of her surrounding or of any ideas who she was, she kept stepping on piles of broken down, mingled bodies.

Underneath the soles of her dirty feet, she felt the squishiness of human entrails. She would continuously step on the piled organs with childlike excitement, as her broken mind couldn't recognise the corpses as anything but things to be stepped on.

She growled with cheerful glee, as she jumped on a corpse of a rather large man. Before her stomach rumbled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten for so long.

Her canine teeth elongated, and she crouched down to the take a whiff of the meat that was already dead, and ready to be eaten, with no need for cooking. The scent alone drove her mind into a half crazed state.

Her eyes alternated between crimson, like the moon and blue, their natural colour. Her stomach rumbled again, and she couldn't take it any longer. She tore an arm from the corpse, and brought it closer to her salivating mouth, but just when she was about to bite down on the arm.

A memory surfaced from the deepest parts of her mind. And deep revulsion took over and she immediately threw the arm away. She then tilted her head to the side, staring at the arm with a confused expression.

She knew what she desired, but when it came to acting on that desire. She couldn't go through with it, and it left her childlike mind bewildered.

She was confused, frustrated and starving. She hadn't eaten anything of substance since the apocalypse began, eight months ago. The only reason she survived this long was because she would sometimes get lucky to stumble upon human camps, and find food prepared by those said humans.

She would kill the them then eat their food, and then move forward to next place. But in the end, the food aren't enough to satiate her.

She howled at the moon in frustration, which unintentionally invited unwelcomed guests.

Her ears perked up, as she turned around to see four at least five metre crimson eyed werewolves. With a brown eyed seven metre pack leader.

All five of them looked scrawny and malnourished, glaring at the girl. The only thing they saw when looking at her, was a rather salivating piece of meat, that was about to be devoured whole.

The girl didn't retreat back with any form of anxiety or fear, instead she laughed and clapped her hands, as if she was watching the most entertaining show.

The werewolves didn't take well to the blatant mocking, which they responded by snarling and growling. They showed rows of sharp bloodied teeth dripping down with thick saliva.

The brown eyed wolf, signaled the closest wolf to it to attack the girl. And the wolf in question only hesitated for second before remembering it was hungry.

It's claws extended, teeth becoming even more menacing. And it's eyes glinted with a fierce crimson colour. It instantly lunged at the girl, and bit off her entire left shoulder.

The girl didn't scream, she simply examined her mortal wound with a childish curiosity, seemingly forgotten about the danger she was in.

Now would've been perfect chance for all the wolves to attack as one, but instead they all retreated back, cowering in fear, of what they saw.

The girl's wound started healing in record speed, but that wasn't what made them cower and quake in fear. It was the chilling laughter coming out of the girl, as the wolf that bit her was undergoing excruciating pain, howling towards the Crimson Moon for release from its agony.

In an instant when the wolves had gained enough clarity to run away, their heads all flew up on the air, before falling down with a bloody thud, never realising they were dead, until their final whimpering howl.

The girl was instantly bathed in blood, spewing out from the headless werewolves corpses. She kept running around in circles, while clapping and laughing.

She was free, but that didn't last long when a mechanical voice sounded in her mind. She screeched, as she blocked her ears, trying to keep out the voice.

She realised it was futile, and went as far piercing her ear drums, by sticking a clawed finger inside her ear. But that didn't help, because not only did she heal instantly, but the voice was not from external forces, but inside her head.

The girl had no choice to listen to the rumblings of the voice without any clear sign of the voice ending. And without the intellect to understand what it was saying.

[You have finally reached the requirements to awaken a system. The power of Symbiosis has been awakened, and now— *error* something is wrong, host's anatomy has been tainted by the red moon— *error* host's is only half tainted, but slowly losing awareness.

The girl could no longer hear anything, other than the sound of her own screams filling her ears, as she was undergoing the change.

She experienced pain that vibrated through her bones, coursed through her veins, and crushed every strand of sanity she was left with. Then everything went dark.

Despite the quiet that now permeated the night, the voice continued rumbling to the unconscious assailant.

"Really? Or is it because last night affected you so much that you couldn't stand being around me?" "Don't flatter yourself, Snow. You didn't affect me at all." He smirked, stepping closer. "Is that so?" His fingers brushed my chin, tilting my face up. My pulse quickened. "We're at work," I snapped, swatting his hand away. "This isn't professional." "You're my wife," he murmured. "You're supposed to obey me at all times." I bit back a retort, a hint of rebellion flaring within. Slowly, I stepped closer, letting my fingers graze his chest. His smirk wavered for a second when his wolf reacted and Snow bit his lips. "Careful, Boss," I purred seductively. "Don't hurt those lips. I'm sure plenty of girls would love to kiss them." Snow leaned down, his lips brushing my ear. "And you? Are you dying for a taste?" Caught off guard, I hesitated, then regained my composure as I looked him in the eyes. "Unlike other girls, I have strong resistance against—" I didn't get a chance to finish when Snow's lips crashed onto mine with a fierce kiss that left me breathless. *************** MATURE CONTENT Participating in the Viral Book Call Contest. In a world where Lycans and werewolves are sworn enemies, Eve Valmont is a werewolf cursed by a prophecy and framed. Betrayed by her own pack and imprisoned for years, her fate takes a darker twist when she is offered to the Lycan King, Hades Stavros—a ruler feared for his ruthless conquests and deadly prowess. Bound by an ancient prophecy and haunted by the ghosts of her past, Eve is now at the mercy of the one being she should hate and fear the most—The Hand of Death himself. Hades, a king carved from blood and his own soul's decay, determined to avenge his family's slaughter and rid his people of the werewolves. He believes Eve is the key to his victory. To him, she is nothing but weapon foretold by prophecy, a tool he will wield to destroy the opposing forces threatening his pack. Yet, he finds himself craving this powerful yet broken woman. Leaving him questioning if she is truly his weapon or the one destined to unravel his carefully laid plans. *** He stalked toward me, a predator closing in on its prey, his eyes dark and unreadable. "So, you laugh?" His voice was low, dangerously soft, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I swallowed hard, suddenly aware of how difficult it had become to breathe. "Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." In an instant, he closed the distance between us, so fast it left me breathless. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body, the heat of him making my skin tingle. I gasped, but before I could say a word, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming my mouth with a force that sent shockwaves through me. The kiss was punishing, hungry—I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. When he finally pulled back, I was trembling, my chest heaving as I struggled to regain my breath. His eyes, dark and stormy, searched mine with a possessive intensity. "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck. "I’ll have every other part of you instead." **** Dark fantasy romance Morally Grey ML Angst Suspense ENEMIES to lovers Smut (like sprinkles on your ice cream)
