Chapter 6: Buying a Wand (Edited)

Throughout the day, Bell was by Shanna's side at all times. They ate together, played together, and slept together. Basically, except for going to the bathroom, the two of them were together all the time.

What? You say he wants to buy a wand? To hell with the wand if it means separating me from my little sister!

Seeing their children getting along so well, Elena could finally relax. She had been worried that the prolonged isolation might have a negative effect on Bell's mind and character. Now, seeing her son happily playing with his little sister, she could finally stop worrying.

Elena cried tears of happiness, and Bell and Shanna comforted her for a long time. Only when Shanna was about to cry as well, Elena finally calmed down.

The next day came quickly.

"Bell, do you remember saying you wanted to buy a wand? Shall we go to Diagon Alley today?" Elena proposed during breakfast.

"What!? How can you think of buying Bell a wand?! He's still too young!" exclaimed William in surprise.

He wondered if his wife was fully awake or if she was talking nonsense so early in the morning. After all, he hadn't bought his wand until the age he would start school. In fact, most young wizards received their first wand at the age of 11.

"Hmph! What do you know?"

Elena cast a disdainful look at William, feeling that he didn't care enough about Bell. How could he say such nonsense?

"Bell's magical power is naturally strong, and after years of training, his control over magic is much more skilled than yours. Why can't he have a wand?"

Faced with his wife's stern gaze, William shrunk his neck. There wasn't much he could do!

He also wanted to maintain his dignity as the head of the family, but what could he do if he couldn't win against his wife? He was completely helpless.

And besides, why praise Bell and belittle him at the same time? He should know that he was very talented too. After all, at one point, even the Dark Lord had invited him several times because of his power. Thank goodness Elena didn't know what William was muttering in his mind, or she would have definitely kicked him to the ground!

Voldemort was "admiring his power"? No, he was simply desiring his body! How despicable!

"Eh!?"

Bell made a disdainful face.

"I don't want to be separated from Shanna, right, Shanna?"

Seeing her brother's mischievous expression, little Shanna burst into laughter, saying, "Separate~ separate~"

"See? Shanna doesn't want to be separated from me either."

Bell looked at his mother with determination.

"It'll only be for a little while, okay? We'll come back after buying the wand. To purchase a wand, it's necessary for the person to be present," Elena tried to convince, resigned.

"I don't want to!"

Bell tightly embraced Shanna.

"Separate~ separate~"

"..."

Since Bell flatly refused to be separated from his sister, Shanna clung to him as well. So in the end, Elena had to take both of them to Diagon Alley.

The three of them traveled in a flying carriage pulled by two Thestrals. Bell noticed that, surprisingly, he could see the Thestrals. Could it be because he had witnessed his own death in his past life?

The Thestrals flew at great speed, and it wasn't long before they arrived at Diagon Alley (without passing through the Leaky Cauldron).

Looking at the street in front of him, Bell felt no excitement or enthusiasm at all. Instead, he wanted to turn around and leave.

The alley was narrow, with shops of varying heights on both sides, which triggered Bell's obsessive compulsive tendencies. He could responsibly claim that, compared to Diagon Alley, he would definitely prefer a 21st-century shopping mall. Although he didn't like shopping at malls either.

Overall, Diagon Alley wasn't very long and didn't have many shops. After all, the total population of the British magical world wasn't large enough to sustain a large number of stores.

Perhaps because it was still early, there weren't many people shopping in Diagon Alley at that time, which made Bell feel a little more comfortable.

At Bell's request, the three of them went straight to Ollivander's wand shop.

Looking at the shop from the outside, honestly, if this wasn't the only wand shop in the entire UK, Bell would never have entered.

The wand shop was small and appeared quite worn from the outside. He could also see that the inside of the shop was covered in dust. So, why not clean and spruce up the shop to make it look better? Even changing the sign to a newer one wouldn't be that hard, right?

However, in reality, yes, this was the only wand shop in the entire UK. So, reluctantly, Bell entered.

Upon entering, a bell on the door rang clearly.

"Welcome! Oh, Mrs. Minethil, do you have any issues with your wand?" said the shop owner, Ollivander.

"My wand is fine, Mr. Ollivander. Today, I came to purchase a wand for my son, Bell."

Ollivander scrutinized Bell for a moment and then said, "Mrs. Minethil, let me be frank, your son isn't yet 11 years old, is he? Isn't it too early to buy him a wand?"

"No, Mr. Ollivander, Bell is a prodigy, I believe he already has the capability to possess his own wand," Elena said proudly.

"Well, if you insist."

Ollivander pulled out a measuring tape and approached Bell.

"Which hand are you accustomed to, boy?"

"The right hand."

After a somewhat enigmatic measurement, Ollivander soon retrieved a wand.

"Try this, boy, ten inches, vine wood, unicorn hair core."

As soon as Bell's hand touched the wand, Ollivander withdrew it. "No, it's not this one. Try this one instead, eleven and a quarter inches, willow wood, phoenix tail feather core."

Bell took the wand, wanting to make a move in a safe direction. However, after a few seconds, he gave up, as all the spaces in front of him were filled with boxes. He waved the wand carelessly and felt his magic flow into it, but somewhat roughly, not smoothly. Several wand boxes floated in the air, about to fly away, but Bell quickly controlled his magic to return them to their place.

"It seems you're not suited for wands of gentle temperament, boy. Alright, let me see. Try this one, thirteen inches, holly wood, fire-breathing dragon nerve core."

After receiving the wand, Bell infused his magic into it. This time, Bell was very satisfied with the wand. He could feel his magic flow smoothly inside the wand and finally burst into a rainbow. Little Shanna, upon seeing the rainbow, started jumping for joy.

"I didn't expect this to be the right one. Mrs. Minethil, though this wand is powerful, it is also of a violent temperament and difficult to control. Frankly, I wouldn't recommend you to buy this wand for your young Bell. Are you absolutely sure you don't want to reconsider?" Ollivander frowned as he asked.

"Of course, I trust that Bell will be able to use this wand very well."

"Very well, it's 10 galleons. Would you like to purchase a wand care toolkit? Just one more galleon."

After Elena paid eleven galleons to Ollivander, the three of them left the wand shop.
