Chapter Twenty-Nine: Ruins of a God

Alice awoke in a vast empty desert. Her chest had closed up and her clothes were in tatters. Staring at the night sky, Alice shivered as a gust of wind blew past her.

'Cold.' She thought. She used 'Item Creation' to create new clothes. She now wore black pants and black boots, along with a white tailcoat, which could regulate the temperature of the wearer. It had a hood attached to it if Alice ever needed it. She had a pink shirt under that.

Searching around her, Alice found her rapier, and her dagger was no where to be found. 'Strange.' Alice rubbed her chin before choosing to walk in a random direction for a bit.

"System, show me my stats." Nothing happened for a few moments. "Ascension, show me my stats. Close my skills."

Alice looked at the stats and sighed. "I wonder if I'm going to remain the same forever."

She continued on her way until the sun began to rise. Alice extended her wings and launched into the sky before taking off towards a giant hole in the ground.

"Not doing that." She began to fly in the opposite direction as an unknown force began to pull on her. Alice was sucked into the pit as it covered itself up, removing its existence from the world.

She fell for a long time before landing on a light in a floor. She saw her surroundings were nothing. Alice stepped off of the light, which revealed a massive ruined structure. It's doors stood at over one hundred feet tall, and began to slowly creak open.

A blinding light came from inside, forcing Alice to cover her face for a moment. The light dimmed down as massive footsteps echoed throughout the pit.

Alice unsheathed her rapier and waited for the existence to show itself.

A massive black shadow with dim red eyes stepped through the doors and was at least half the size of the doors.

Alice took a step back when she felt it's power radiating from its deep eyes. It's shadowy mouth opened, and a weak voice came from it.

"Who are you, Light-bringer?" The shadow bent over a bit to stare at Alice.

"I-I'm Alice Night, Princess of Lucifina. Or I was at least." Alice lowered her rapier when she said that.

The shadow laughed, shaking the strange place. "That is not what I meant, Light-bringer. I meant what is your place among the gods? I can feel the energy of Creation radiating from you. Yet, I can also feel the helplessness of a spirit, trapped in a place it doesn't belong."

Alice stared at the figure. "What do you mean among the gods?"

The figure sat down abruptly on the ground, nearly bringing the entire place down. "I'm what is known by gods throughout the universes, as a Guardian. Something created to safeguard the treasures left behind by a dead god, or one who has ascended to true immortality, from those who wish to take it."

Alice sat down to and stared up at the figure who had a "smile" on its face. "What do you mean 'true immortality'?"

"When a god is born, the universes sing together in harmony, and create an Aurora of blinding white and blue lights. This god goes through many challenges in their respective universe, and may eventually find the path to becoming truly immortal. That is when a god earns the title of Omniscient Existence."

Alice tilted her head while staring at the giant figure. "What does it mean to be truly immortal?"

The guardian laughed again. "If I knew that, I wouldn't have been turned into a Guardian during the Abolishment." Standing up, the Guardian motioned for Alice to follow it inside.

As they walked through the ruined corridors, the Guardian spoke. "How did you become the Light-bringer?"

Alice shrugged her shoulders. "I'm not sure. I used to be a Calamity, but that title was exchanged with Light-bringer when something happened to me."

The shadow rubbed its chin as another door opened. "That is strange. Come. Follow me to the library. I believe there may be something that could tell us why this has happened."

As they continued, the structure began to look much more stable and intact. Another pair of doors opened and the shadow sat Alice inside the giant library.

A few minutes passed before it came back with a large book in his hand. "This should help. The Last Prophecy of the Sightless Angel. My master asked this Angel about their last prophecy before he either died or became omniscient. Here."

The book shrunk in size as he sent it to Alice, who immediately began to read it.

'After speaking with the Sightless Angel, I have learned two things. One: The culling of the Angels were their own doing, and that a new god will be born once Fetoria disappears.

The last prophecy of the Sightless Angel is chilling. An Angel born to fall shall become a calamity on the mortal world, effecting the thinking process in those around them subconsciously, and will send the world into chaos. This will prepare the world for what the Sightless Angel calls the True Calamity: The end of existence itself.

Once everything is gone from their respective universes, one world will be left to allow life to bloom again. The calamity will become a Light-bringer, and will bring forth a new universe. One not split by the Abomination. This was all I could learn of the prophecy, but it sounds like the end is near, especially with how stressed and scared the Sightless Angel was.' - John

Alice closed the book after skimming through the rest of it. She threw it back up to the guardian, who enlarged it and put it back in its place.

"Who was your master?" She asked the guardian.

The guardian grabbed a green gem laying on a desk and walked toward a place in the wall. It inserted the gem and the wall began to split open.

"My master's name was John. He never had a last name, but I know that he killed me using lighting that shot from his hands. He had an empire, and a massive army." The guardian watched Alice enter the vault and clicked a gem inside which lit up the massive room. "It all vanished into obscurity and was forgotten because of the secret orders of the world."

Alice stared into the vault with wide eyes. Thousands upon thousands of shadowy figures stood in armor, without glowing eyes and wielding weapons of unknown origin.

"What was the name of this empire?" Alice asked as she approached the soldiers.

The guardian smiled as it turned into a ring which appeared on Alice's finger. "The empire was named by outsiders. The Promised Land."

The soldiers eyes lit up deep red and they all saluted to Alice.
