The Challenger System

In the midst of a busy street, among the many houses, one house in particular was important to this story.

In this house the curtains were opened just enough to leak in some sunlight that woke up the person in the bed.

The boy got up and yawned, but excitement was evident on his face!

This boy, Alex, was a student at the UFA, otherwise known as the Unknown Fighting Academy.

The UFA was widely known because of their strength, the Academy focused on raising strong and talented individuals to help battle the unknown that even now still plague the world.

This upcoming week, the UFA would be releasing all of the weak and untalented kids.

This weekend all of the students were assigned with fighting their first beast, by fighting a beast the system could be opened and the ability could be unlocked, depending on talent of course.

The poor had to find a way to accomplish this themselves, whilst the rich had the luxury of buying escorts to ensure 100% safety.

Alex, a poor teen, obviously fell into the former category and had to rely on his own power.

However that didn't discourage him, there was no way it would, with or without an escort, today was the day he was going to fight his first beast.

As such, Alex got out of the bed and stretched his body a bit, he grabbed some clothes and then went off to the shower.

About 10 minutes later, Alex came out and got dressed, he then equipped the little armor he had and placed two daggers to both of his sides.

It wasn't the best, but it would work.

With all of that prepared he left his room and made his way towards the kitchen. He started cooking some food.

Not long after, the food was done, he grabbed some of it and began to eat, the rest of the food he covered so his sister could eat later whilst he was gone.

After finishing, he left his house and made his way towards the gates, this would be his first time ever leaving the city on his own.

As he neared the gate that would lead outside the safety of the city, he saw more and more students and adult Seekers.

Seekers were people that have either graduated from a Academy focused on battling the unknown or people who had abilities that were not able to get into a Academy.

Seekers was the designated name for I these people, they were named as such because they are supposed to seek out the unknown, slowly revealing the secrets to all.

Quite grand, Alex strives to be a seeker as well, not for the fame or glory, nor because it's a fantastic job, simply because it's a well-paying job as long as your good!

You see, Alex had grown up with his sister without anybody in their life, they were dirt poor.

At young Alex got a job simply to provide for his sister, some nights he wouldn't eat anything, but as long as his sister was fine, the world was brighter!

Now don't get him wrong, he wasn't some sis-con, definitely, 100%, right?

It's just that growing up seeing the only person who's ever been with you, suffer and live horrible is not exactly a great thing to experience.

Anyways, Alex arrived at the gate.

The gate was grand and very large, in front of the exit were many guards, all of which were specially trained and prepared for disaster at any moment.

Alex walked up to one of them, "I'm a student at UFA, I've come to kill a beast!"

The man nodded and said, "May I see your student ID?"

Alex showed him the ID, the man nodded again and signaled to the other guards to let Alex pass.

Alex walked out and was immediately greeted with a majestic scene that was impossible to see from the inside of the city.

The grass was slightly wet, flowers were sprinkled across the fields and rays of sunshine beamed down.

Mountains in the background seemed so majestic and tall, the trees swayed back and forth as their leaves fell!

It was almost impossible to imagine that this world was rampant with deadly beasts!

Alex, decided to sit there and bask in the beautiful scenery, he would undoubtedly see it more often, he was confident, but, this was the first time and he couldn't help but enjoy it.

"Gahhhhh"

He broke out of his dream-like state when he heard a loud roar, he turned towards the direction of the sound and saw a large Bull coming his way!

He recognized the bull, a Hell Bull, Class 2! He didn't even have a class yet, there was no way to take this thing down!

However, the air cracked and blood sprayed everywhere, the once magnificent looking Hell Bull was decapitated!

He looked towards the killer and saw that it was one of the guards!

No wonder, all the guards had a minimum requirement of Class 2 whilst the vast majority were in Class 3!

He then looked back at the bull and noticed that the guard left it there, not caring about it at all.

A smile crept on his face and he walked towards the bull, he then started to dismantle all the expensive parts and put them in a little bag.

He had long since learned how to dismantle beasts for this exact reason.

After doing that he left, it was now time to activate the system.

He the headed towards a field filled with Blood Bunnies, they were just barely first class monsters and were optimal for newbies to target.

He knew exactly where to go because he had long memorized a map of the surroundings around the city.

After about 15 minutes of walking he saw a blood bunny, he slowly snuck up on it, watching the bunnies every movement.

From the twitch of its ear to the movement of its tail, once he got close enough he pounced with a dagger in his hand.

With one hand he grabbed the bunnies head and smashed it into the grass, with his other hand he slammed down the dagger right into the bunnies head.

Siiiiii-

The knife slid through cleanly, he then pulled it out and cleaned off his dagger.

He then waited in expectation.

Nothing?

Nothing?!

'No!'

He ran towards another rabbit and this time just sliced it cleanly at the back of its neck!

Again, nothing!

"No! NOOO!"

Again he killed another rabbit.

Another rabbit.

And another..

Again and Again…

Until, [Ding!]

Alex stopped in his tracks, wondering where the sound came from.

In the next moment a transparent screen appeared in front of him.

[Challenge Completed: Kill 10 beasts of any kind!

[Challenger (Ability): In the face of despair, whilst others will crumble and fall, you will grow exponentially stronger!

Effect 1: When engaged in battle, especially challenging battles, power will rise permanently exponentially! Multiplier depends on the difficulty of the battle.

Effect 2: When conquering a challenge much more difficult than your level, there will be a 50% chance to unlock an ability relating to the challenge!

Effect 3: When facing difficult challenges, depending on the difficulty, a Experience Multiplier will be built with varying multipliers.

[Note: Challenges can be created by the host, however the system will regulate what is accepted, only challenges of similar or higher difficulty will be accepted, system challenges will also be issued however not forced, rewards are decided by the system.]

With all that said, all of the rewards were used by him.

[Ability - Condense: Condense anything and have 100% control. Ex. Condensing space into a small, destructive ball. Ex 2. Condensing fire.]

He felt a mysterious power enter him, most likely the ability.

After that, Alex felt a warm energy slide through his body, he could feel his body strengthening and his Magic energy improving and becoming larger!

Alex couldn't help but say, "wow."
