Elena and Yuchen continued walking through the amusement park. Occasionally, Yuchen glanced at Elena, who didn't say anything at all. The awkwardness and cold air between them were palpable.
"What rides do you want to ride?" asked Yuchen, trying to strike up a conversation as it seemed like Elena was just walking without choosing any rides, even though they had already passed a few.
Elena remained silent, her bad mood apparent, and she secretly wished to go home soon.
However, it seemed like the two of them hadn't garnered much attention from the public. Though some people whispered as they passed, Elena felt it wasn't enough to make her plan perfect.
"Let's go on that ride," Elena said suddenly, pointing at one of the rides that caught her eye. She needed something extreme to lift her spirits, yet something suitable to ride in her skirt.
That's when she noticed the Vikings ride.
Yuchen was a little surprised by Elena's choice of rides. He hadn't expected her to opt for something quite so extreme.
After Elena paid for the tickets this time, they finally sat in the back row, ready for the ride.
As the ride finally swung around, the two of them could be seen holding the safety bar nervously, feeling their hearts pounding wildly as they soared higher
A scream echoed through the air, first from someone else climbing up, then followed by Elena's and Yuchen's laughter-filled screams. Elena even let go of her grip on the safety bar, enjoying the thrill of the ride.
However, as the ride continued to swing, reaching a daunting 90-degree angle, Elena's body tensed up, and she tightly clutched the safety bar. The fear of falling overwhelmed her, and she felt a moment of panic.
She didn't want to die yet! She can't die like this, especially on a viking ride. It felt too foolish.
Yuchen immediately noticed Elena's distress as he glanced at her hand and then her frightened expression. Without hesitation, he gently and carefully placed his hand on top of hers, causing Elena to turn directly towards him.
However, Yuchen didn't say anything, he just smile,.and that smile brought a sense of comfort and reassurance to Elena.
In that moment, Elena felt like she wasn't facing her fears alone; it was as if someone was right there with her, assuring her that everything would be alright.
After a while, the ride finally stopped, and the two of them got off.
Despite their silence, it wasn't due to awkwardness but rather the lingering adrenaline from the thrilling experience.
Elena's heartbeat gradually returned to its normal rhythm, and she stole a glance at Yuchen
"Let's go back. It's getting late," Elena said in a concise manner..
She didn't know how long they had been here, but the sky indicated that the sun would soon set.
It was enough to attract attention from the public because Elena knew that quite a number of people had already seen her together with Yuchen.
"Then how about one last ride? Let's go on the Ferris wheel," Yuchen suggested, flashing a charming smile and pointing at the towering ride. "
The view from above will be magnificent," he continued, trying to persuade Elena.
Elena found herself momentarily speechless at the unexpected proposal, but after a moment of contemplation, she nodded in agreement. The Ferris wheel offered a more relaxed experience, and she was also intrigued by the idea of seeing the scenery from above.
Like their previous agreement, Yuchen paid for their ride on the Ferris wheel. Once they were inside the cabin, the atmosphere suddenly turned quiet, and a slight awkwardness filled the air.
Elena could feel the situation was really awkward. Moreover, this was the first time she sat facing Yuchen quite close like this, without a table between them.
Elena then decided to put her sunglasses back on to hide her eyes and then looked away and looked around, trying not to stare at Yuchen's face which looked quite close.
"I'm sorry."
Suddenly, Elena could hear Yuchen's low voice broke the silence, startling her. Luckily he couldn't see her enlarged eyes.
Yuchen seemed to be scratching his cheek nervously.
"About earlier. I was just kidding and deliberately wanted to tease you who won. I mean, we're going to pretend to be a couple and I don't want us to look awkward as a couple," Yuchen said, starting to explain slowly, his words tinged with awkwardness.
At first, Yuchen did seem confused by Elena's sudden coldness towards him even though he thought they had become close, but after he thought about it, it started from when he teased her.
So, Yuchen decided to apologize. Of course at this time he was acting. After all, he's trying to create an image as loving and adorable.
Elena fell silent, taken aback by Yuchen's unexpected apology. It had been a long time since anyone had apologized to her, and the gesture felt strange, yet oddly pleasing.
"It's fine," Elena answered, her tone still tinged with awkwardness
Upon reflection, she realized she might have been overly sensitive and perhaps shouldn't have reacted so irritably.
But, she was pleased with Yuchen apologizing to her.
"He really is considerate," thought Elena, her heart warming as she inwardly smiled. She couldn't help but recall how Yuchen had shown small but caring gestures during their time together.
It seemed like she hadn't made a wrong choice. Despite his earlier teasing, Elena's impression of him hadn't plummeted; in fact, it had continued to rise
But Elena quickly brushed aside her thoughts. "Ah no! He's just doing his job! After all, I paid him with a lot of money," she reminded herself, trying to rationalize the situation.
She had compensated Yuchen generously for this, so it made sense for him to be attentive.
"Wow…"
As the cabin slowly ascended, Elena couldn't help but gasp in awe as she gazed at the breathtaking sunset before her. The sky was adorned with hues of pink and orange, creating a mesmerizing sight. She was captivated by the beauty of the scenery beside her.
"Can I take your photo?" Yuchen's sudden question interrupted her thoughts.
Initially, Yuchen had only wanted to spend time alone with Elena to apologize, but as he looked at the stunning view with Elena as the center, he couldn't resist the urge to capture the moment in a picture.
"I mean, you can upload it on your social media, just to show that you really came here today," he explained hastily, trying to justify his request.
Taken aback at first, Elena quickly softened and agreed when she heard the reason.
"Okay," said Elena, immediately trying to fix her hair for the photo.
Yuchen took out his cell phone and snapped several shots as Elena changed her pose.
"Let me see," said Elena, who was curious about the photos taken by Yuchen.
"Ohh… This is good… this one is also good… Ohhh you're good at taking photos," she complimented Yuchen with a smile.
"Please send the photos to me!" she requested with enthusiasm.
Yuchen couldn't help but smile at her excitement. He hadn't anticipated that taking her photo would make her so happy, and it was genuinely heartwarming to see.
"Oh yeah, how about we also take a photo together?" Yuchen suggested suddenly, the desire to capture this moment with Elena urging him to make the request.
Without waiting for her answer, he smoothly moved closer to sit next to Elena, causing her to shift slightly to accommodate him.
Yuchen then raised his hand and switched the camera to the front camera. However, Yuchen didn't press the button immediately and seemed to be trying to find the perfect angle.
"Ah! Looks like it was hard to shoot with the sunset as the backdrop," muttered Yuchen who looked a bit disappointed that the result wasn't as good as he had expected.
Both of their faces became even less clear.
"It doesn't matter. The view is so beautiful! Hurry and take the picture!" Elena cheerfully remarked, content with emphasizing the stunning cityscape rather than their faces.
As the cabin continued to move, Yuchen hurriedly snapped another photo.
"Let's take one more photo," Yuchen suggested, stretching his hand forward to adjust their positions and ensure both their faces were clearly visible.
However, in doing so, Elena's face got slightly cropped from the frame as she sat slightly away from him.
Noticing the issue, Yuchen moved even closer, making Elena look surprised by his proximity. The scent of his cologne filled the confined space, and she couldn't help but feel a bit flustered.
Despite her change in demeanor, Yuchen remained entirely focused on capturing the perfect shot.
He wanted this photo to be a reminder of the enjoyable time they had spent together, a memento of the moment when he was truly relaxed and having fun
