Chapter 53

At Empire City,

Damian sat in his office going through a document on his laptop when Lloyd walked inside and behind him was Ezekiel. Damian frowned when he saw Exekiel walking in. They had not spoken to each other ever since Ezekiel walked out of the office the last day and he didn't expect to see him come to work today either.

He stared expressionless at them. Lloyd smiled while Ezekiel remained poker similar to Damian. They walked over and Lloyd sat down while Ezekiel remained standing with his hands inside his pants' pockets.

"You both need to stop this and start talking to each other again," Lloyd said, annoyed by the silent look the two shared. If it was because of something else that they stared at each other that way, he would not have minded because they could be cooking up something interesting. But this time, they had issues with themselves so getting them to talk it out with each other was a must. He would not want his friends to be at odds.

"Why don't you go first, you came all the way here," Lloyd said looking over his shoulder at Ezekiel. But the man remains silent, leaving him frustrated.

"How is Pearl?" Damian asked, talking to Lloyd instead. He didn't want to be at odds with Ezekiel but the man was just annoying him with the way he was looking at him right now. Damian had more important things to worry about than to worry about him.

"Pearl is as troublesome as always, but she sent her kisses to you," Lloyd replied. Though he would prefer the two talking, the air was no longer as tense as it was before. "She wanted to come along," he informed and Damian raised a brow. "I cannot bring her here, you know what she is capable of,"

"Fine, I will set a date to see her, it has been long," Damian said and Lloyd smiled.

"What happened to the lady boss? She left already?" He asked looking around for any signs of her but there was nothing, not even the faint scent of her perfume that always lingered around whenever She visited the office.

"Yes," Damian replied. Right now it felt as if there were only two of them inside while Ezekiel was just a statue standing there and listening to them. "I have a job for you," he said, turning the laptop around so the screen faced Ezekiel and Lloyd. "Keep an eye on this for me," he said.

Ezekiel frowned when he saw who he was referring to as 'this', he was none other than Collins Nova. The picture changed once again and another image was seen. "Gale?" Ezekiel asked not understanding why they should keep an eye on a fresher in the game and industry.

"You know him?" Lloyd asked not understanding how Ezekiel would know about him.

"Yes," he replied but before he could explain, another image appeared on the screen, and his frown deepened.

"Scarlett?" Lloyd asked not understanding why they would be watching an actress, what harm could she possibly cause? Or what had she already done that would warrant them having to watch her?

"Yes, her," Damian replied.

"Diana's classmate in high school?" Ezekiel asked still not understanding why she should be watched.

"You seem very familiar, keep an eye on her too, as well as Gale, Lloyd you would watch Collins Nova, everything he does should be reported to me. Nothing should escape your eyes,"

"We have heard you but why should we watch these two, Collins we understand the need to keep an eye on him, but these… I don't see the point," Lloyd said, making the pictures align on the screen.

"She was a friend of Melody and Diana," he said and stopped there. He didn't know much about her; he didn't even care who she was until he learned that she had something to do with Melody five years ago. Now that he had been trusted with what belonged to her, he would keep it all safe and even take advantage of that to track down all that had been done and happening before and after Melody disappeared.

"You still haven't told us why we should do this," Ezekiel pointed out the obvious.

"You will soon enough. Investigate them," Damian responded. He would like to keep an eye on Gale himself knowing his history with Melody, but he has Ace breathing on his neck, watching his every move, ready to strike with the slightest mistake that he made. He couldn't give him the chance to do anything, especially target Melody. She would take care of herself but right now her position was not yet guaranteed. When she can achieve that, she will take on anyone head-on.

"Alright," Lloyd said standing up. He looked between Damian and Ezekiel, one had gone back to staring at the screen while the other just stood and watched him go it. It looks as if they were only willing to talk to each other only when it was work-related. He shook his head and pushed back his chair so he could leave. They would give him a headache if he stayed any longer.

"You both should talk it out, you are not children, or women with tantrums," he said and left the room.

Ezekiel turned around to leave as well but stopped when Damian spoke.

"What do you feel for my sister?" Damian asked.

Ezekiel stood with his back facing Damian but he knew he was not looking at him. He still had his eyes on the screen in front of him. He knew Diana couldn't tell Damian anything and neither had he, the way Dian would have known would be that he was watching him.

"I am responsible for her welfare, don't think I am not watching you," Damian said as if he was able to read his mind. "What do you plan to do with my sister?" he asked and closed the laptop and pushed it to the side of the desk.

Ezekiel turned around to face his friend. He did not plan to let it out so soon but he could not deny what Damian already knew to be true and make it a lie. That would hurt Diana and would give Damian a reason to keep his sister away from him.

"I care for her," he replied, walking back to where he was.

"That does not answer my question, Ezekiel, you are my friend, but she remains my sister," Damian said.

Ezekiel could hear the warning in his tone and understood what he was saying. It wasn't so long ago that he was with another woman and now he had Diana in his arms, if he were Damian, he wouldn't trust him too.
