Chapter One

HAPONG-HAPO si Stevie pagkatapos niyang tumakbo para makapasok ng hindi late sa kanyang trabaho. Sayang naman kasi kung mala-late siya. Kaltas pa naman 'yon sa sweldo.

Nagtatrabaho si Stevie sa isang Theatrical Workshop sa Ottawa, Canada. She's one of the best acting directors in their workshop. She was recruited to be one when she was 25.

Four years have passed and she's still in Canada. Working her ass off in order to survive. Now, she is already 29 turning 30 in four months.

Ngayon na naalala niya na magiging trenta na siya sa susunod na apat na buwan parang nawawalan na siya ng pag-asa na makakapaghanap pa ng asawa. Most of her co-workers in the workshop already have spouses or engange or in a relationship with someone special. Except her.

Malakas na napabuntong hininga si Stevie. Makakapag-asawa pa kaya ako? I don't want to die alone like what happened to my grandpa's sister at the age of 40! No! No! No!

She heared someone cleared its throat before saying . "Deep thoughts.''

Napalingon si Stevie sa nagsalita. It was Laurin. Laurin Tremblay. One of her friends in the workshop. Unlike her Laurin is already 28 but in a relationship. Well, her friend has the looks and good personality so its not surprising. She sighed again.

"Problem, Stevie?'' Nag-aalala na nakatingin sa kanya si Laurin.

Kaya naman sumagot na siya.

"Wala naman. I'm fine, Laurin. So wipe the worry face, babe.'' She called Laurin her babe. Well, she call her friends babe. Laurin can understand some tagalog words such as wala, oo, and sobra to name a few.

Laurin hummed then said, '' Scared being an old maid?'' Then chuckled.

Binigyan niya ng matalim  na tingin ang kaibigan. Mr. Wilson was the one who started calling her 'old maid' when he learned that she haven't experienced a single relationship ever since.

Mr. Raymond Wilson is the owner of the Wilson Theatre Workshop. In short, her boss. And now, everyone started teasing her old maid especially, Sherill Gagnon, her co-director slash rival.

"Shut it, babe. I'm not scared. Not a single bit.'' She denied. Why would she admit it? Laurin will only pair her up like what she did in three years. At wala ni isang nakapasok sa puso niya. All only wanted to sleep with her which she declined ALWAYS.

THROUGHOUT the day,  'yon lang ang nasa isip ni Stevie. Even when she head home it still lingers in her thought. She was already on her front porch when her phone beeped. She looked at it and saw that it was a call from her friend Shaina - a dear friend of her from Philipines- she took the call while inserting the key to get inside her small home in Canada. Her house was a one story house composed with one bedroom, a bathroom and toilet, kitchenette and a living area. Her little home sweety home.

"Hey, Shaina'', she greeted her friend excitedly as she entered her house. She heared Shaina scream in delight as she answered her call. Her friend wasn't able to call her this past few weeks for unknown reason. And she was delighted that it called her now. Maybe there was a good news?

"Stevie!'', she heard Shaina squel in the other line. '' Wait your on loudspeaker! The whole squad is here!''

She took a sit on her couch and put her bag on the tea table in front of her. As she remove her shoes she heared her friends greeting her and she greeted back.

"What's the reason for your call? I believe there's a reason behind it?'' Stevie asked. She put her friends on loudspeaker so she can move freely around the house. She carried her phone towards the kitchen to have a glass of water. 

"Well..... Brace you're self! It's a good news!'', as she got the water, Stevie recognise the voice on the other line now belongs to Miyuki. One of her friends.

"Good news? Well, that will be great. I badly need it! Nakakasawa nang mastress buong araw.'' She said and roll her eyes, pagkatapos ay uminom siya ng tubig.

"The good news is that our friend here, Caren, is getting married!'' Miyuki informed her with glee. Dahil umiinom siya nang tubig bigla siyang nabilaukan and that almost made her out of breath!

Fuck! Napamura nalang si Stevie sa isip. Not that she's not happy. Naisip niya lang na dahil engaged na si Caren ay siya nalang ang hindi pa natatali sa kanilang magkaibigan.

"Stevie? Hello? Still there?'' The voice she heard on the other line brought her back from her thoughts.

"Yes, still here. Tell Caren that I'm happy for her! At last after so many years she's finally getting married!''

"Hey! let's do facetime! Can't wait to see if may nagbago ba sayo 'no!''

"Sure! Wait a minute. I'm gonna get my laptop so I won't have to hold my phone for a long time! I know that we will be talking for hours.''

"Okay! See you in a minute!''

Pagkatapos ng tawag ay dali-daling kinuha ni Stevie ang laptop. After turning it on she immediately went to the app to videochat her friends. A few seconds later she finally saw her friends in the living room of Caren the 'celebrant' of the day.

"Hey, guys! I miss you all.''

All her friends laughed then told her that they misses her too. Especially because they haven't met again for a long time. Last time she went home was 3 years ago. And it only last for a week because she need to go back to work ASAP.

She and her friends talked for almost two hours and Caren told her to do the invitation for the wedding. Caren and her fiancee decided that the wedding will be in two months and of course she agreed. Her friends are precious to her after all.

After talking to her friends she then again remembered her co-workers teasing her about being the only person at the age of 29 without having any intimate relationship. And now, siya nalang ang wala pang lovelife sa mgakaibigan niya. That at thought, she knew she must make a plan. A very very good and devious plan. If Mr. Cupid is not on her side, maybe Lady Luck is. That's what she need right now. A Very Good Luck.
