In the Vermillion Empire's Capital City , all the people were currently in a joyous mood . The day was special which arrived every year and thousands of new cultivators embarked on their journey on the same day .

Here in this world when a child reached the age of 15 , they undergo a simple ceremony which decides their future path . Whether they will remain a mortal or embark on the path of cultivation . Only people who have awakened their Martial Spirits can use it as a medium and absorb the energy from heaven and earth to cultivate . There are myriad abilities but Martial Spirits are ranked on the basis of energy gathering talent . Human , Saint and God - Martial Spirits are divided into these three main ranks while each rank has nine sub ranks . Human Rank 1 Martial Spirit is considered weakest while God Rank 9 the best .

Today was the day when the children regardless of their backgrounds , were given the chance to touch the Awakening Crystal and see if they have can awaken their Martial Spirits or not . The ratio was low as only 1 in thousand have the talent . Thus a huge crowd was gathered before the small stone platform to see birth of future big shots .

The small platform had a 1meter long blue stone laying there and an old man was currently standing next to it . The old man wore white robes and did not look any different from normal old men . But nobody dared to underestimate him because he was the current headmaster of Vermillion Academy which was responsible for grooming new cultivators of the Empire . His strength was known to have reached unfathomable heights and even the Emperor treated him with extreme respect .

Headmaster Rick eyed the children who had lined up now . The number was more than one thousand but all of them were commoners . Those from Noble or rich families have Awakening Stones at their homes so they obviously would not bother attending such public ceremonies . Rick was himself from commoner origin thus he bothered to supervise this ceremony himself every year in the Captial City which was closest to the Academy .

" Cough... Youngsters , I will not waste more time by some flashy speech . Touch this stone one by one and leave the rest to Fate ! " Rick only gestured the first child to move and stopped talking but his eyes were concealing a look of anticipation. He was eager to see if any talent worthy of his personal guidance emerges from the crowd .

Following the first one in just about twenty minutes , almost half of the teenagers had tried their luck but none succeeded . Just as some people were going to leave in disappointment, the blue stone started emitting blinding light which lasted only a second . Finally someone had succeeded but no one spoke as they waited for the headmaster to evacuate the rank of Martial Spirit. Still many flashed envious glances at the young teenager who wore tattered black robe because they knew that even if he had the weakest Martial Spirit, he will still stand above many in future .

Rick on the other hand had disappointed look in his eyes . " Rank 1 Human ! " He announced in a normal tone but the crowd heard it . They started pitying the poor looking young man as with his talent , his path would be severely limited . In fact it had been years since someone managed to awaken the lowest ranked Martial Spirit.

" Child , tomorrow morning come to the Academy Gates and receive your admission Token . " Rick saw that the child was not happy which he could understand so he gently patted his shoulder and whispered in a low voice .

The poor young man left the crowd and dissapeared after that and nobody seemed to care about him . But after he arrived at a corner , the young man suddenly smirked " Mirror World huh ? Hehe... the name does not sound bad at all . " He then started walking towards the outskirts of the city where the poor lived .
