The Alpha On Campus

Everyone has that one person who makes them uncomfortable. That guy when he walks in a room you can feel the energy shift. A constant string of different girls under his arm, never really caring about much of anyone but himself. Two years I spent avoiding him, making sure he never knew I even existed. Even though we’re apart of the pack, a few families like mine weren’t able to talk to our wolves. Not ranking in a society built on levels can really take it out of you, so being in the same room as them is nevertheless difficult.. Who knew that all of that avoiding would eventually bring me here to this moment. Striding towards me was that same guy, dripping blood on the floor as he walked. "Mate.." he said sliding out the chair on the other side of the table plopping down into it. His face had splattered blood all across it, causing his piercing emerald eyes to shine bright against the red. I wanted to run.

The goddess's gift

I was shocked, why would the Moon Goddess be in my room? Why had she visited my dream and what was that pain? The questions continuously coming up one by one. She just watched as I relaxed before she spoke.

"My child you know which pack you belong to but are surprised to see me." she shook her head "Your mother the poor thing, she still has no access to me any longer." her face grew solemn before continuing, "You must break the curse Daliah. Only you and Finn will be able to."

"What do you mean?" I asked confused "What did you mean by transformation is never easy?" she looked at me weighing her words carefully.

"You will understand when it is time little wolf. You are one of my children, and I have bestowed you a gift. Which you have used tonight excellently, how do you think those others were not able to sense you?" she smiled and put her hand on my shoulder. I was surprised, I had noticed the change in me but with still being so new with Fallon I just thought it was that.

"You will be exceptional my little alpha, I have great plans for you and your mate. I know you both won't let me down." she turned to go down the stairs. I was still frozen in my place, by the time I had looked she was gone.

I went into my room closing the door behind me. It was almost as if she was not even here to begin with. Sitting on my bed I tried to see if I could smell or sense that she was here only to make it a reality, but there was no trace.

"Am I going crazy?" I asked Fallon knowing she would talk some sense into me as she always does.

"Definitely not, that was her.. I could just tell." she said lost in thought.

Laying down I let the days events play over one last time while lazily kicking off my shoes and covering myself with my small blanket. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep, I was exhausted from running so much today. Luckily I was that kind of dead tired where it was a dreamless night.

The next morning I woke up to shuffling sounds downstairs, I went on red alert until a familiar scent was outside the door, Val. She hesitated, so instead I just called her into the room.

"Dustin told me what happened." she said walking in with a big plate of brownies and a sad expression.

I flopped back on the bed curling up into a ball remembering that blonde she wolf on top of my mate. I let out a groan, why did she have to bring it up. She sat on the end of the bed placing the plate between us. I reached out and grabbed a brownie taking a bite so I wouldn't have to talk.

"Okay, obviously this is more than brownie serious. Dustin just said you got into an argument." her expression growing more concerned.

"HA!" I snorted mouth still half full. "An argument you say? More like caught him under someone else." I finished taking another bite.

"Are you f*cking serious?" she stood up her eyes flashing with anger as she tried to contain her wolf. "I'm going to kill him." Val started to head to the door but I grabbed her hand to stop her.

"Its okay Val.. Well its not but I'm okay now." I said trying to calm her down, "How'd you find me any way?" she smiled brightly at that.

"Well your my best friend, when they told me you were back I figured the one place you would want to be is in your bed." she gestured to me still bundled up on it. "Where did you even go yesterday?" she said a frown taking over the smile.

"When I saw that I ended up running away, all the way into the small town on the left side of the pack. I actually met some really nice humans. Oh and I got this." I got up and walked to the bag Mel had packed up for me pulling out my new dress.

"Its fabulous! Since when did you dress so sexy?" she jumped up feeling the material. "This must have been expansive you have to tell me where you got it!" I smiled as I finished pulling out the rest of the outfit. She was in love with the whole thing.

"Well Melanie's on main is the shop but the Mel, she gave me all of this for fifty bucks! She could tell I was having a bad day." Val eyed me suspiciously at the friendliness I had with a human.

"Do I have to worry another girl is swooping in on my best friend." she made a pouting face causing me to laugh.

"Never hun, your my best of best friends." I laughed harder at the thought of someone else taking her spot.

"Good, and now since were talking outfits I guess its good you got a dress. The Luna said even with everything going on we will still have our fall festival activities as usual. To show solidarity she said." Val looked excited, she had always loved the festival but this would be my first year attending. I never really saw the reason for it before.

"What about training?" I asked looking at my phone that said seven o'clock. "Did you really give me a brownie at seven am?" I asked, she looked a little guilty.

"Hey, emotional support brownies can be any time of day. But unfortunately I am here to take you to training. Your parents thought I would have the best luck at getting you out." we both sighed knowing they were right.

I nodded putting the clothes back into the bag, I would have to take them to the pack house with me. Getting dressed I threw on some of the work out clothes my mom hadn't packed for me and left with Val. Her driver was waiting for us out front of the house. Getting in she instructed him where to take us. The ride was silent as I tried to work up the courage to face not only my parents after basically running away but the alpha family as well.

"Give em h*ll Dali." Val said to me as we arrived. I nodded at her trying to soak up some of her confidence.

The training area was off to the side of the house, a large field full of all different ages, genders, and sizes were all there training along side one another. I tried my best not to seek out those who I was trying to avoid. Soon enough Alice came over to us.

"Young luna, Valarie. You ladies will be training with me." we both nodded and followed her over to a small area off to the side. "Since this is your first session, we will be focusing on the basics." as she said that two wolf warriors dropped off a couple of punching bags.

She went over the basics of throwing a punch, making sure to show us how to use your core. How to properly kick. But most importantly how to anticipate your attackers next move. The session lasted longer than a few hours, by the end of it both of us had improved exponentially.

"You ladies did amazing!" Alice cheered as we came to a close. "Val are you sure your the daughter of a omega? You fight like a Beta." she said eyeing her.

"She's my beta!" I said wrapping my arm around her, all of us laughing. "I'm hungry how about you guys?" they both just rubbed their stomachs and nodded in agreeance.

We walked to the house joking and laughing like we weren't just training for an inevitable war. All the while I could feel eyes on me, I ignored them knowing who they probably belonged to. Instead we all went to the kitchen to join the others, the room loud with people talking and eating. We were almost done when I felt his presence behind me. It took everything in me not to turn around look at him.

Val saw him and her face went dark, taking me under her arm and shaking her head. The image of him under that b*tch the only thing my mind could think about, Fallon growling at the memory. I stood up gently shrugging her arm off of me.

"If you'll excuse me." they both just nodded understanding I no longer wanted to be there. I tried to walk past him with out looking but he caught my arm stopping me.

"Daliah we need to talk." he hissed at me under his breath.

"We have nothing to talk about young alpha. I was just leaving, please do enjoy the food its delicious." I shook off his hand and walked past him. Even Fallon didn't wish to hear him out.

He let out a low growl as I kept walking not even throwing a glance his way. For some reason I found myself outside the Serena's office. She opened the doors knowing I was already on my way. Her face looked sympathetic but how could I basically tell his mother what happened. That felt like an odd thing to do, so instead I opted for other things on my mind. She walked me inside and we sat at either side of her desk.

"Have you ever spoke to the moon goddess?" I asked when we finally settled in, her face shocked as I said that.

"Me? No, never but I had heard stories when I was younger about her visiting the alpha. Did she come to you?" she looked like she was excited to hear.

"She did last night, she said she had big plans for Finn and I. That she had given me a gift." she looked like she was trying to find something.

"Hmm, well your aura is.. sad to say the least but I do sense something is different.. Your harder to read than before." she kept on looking at me puzzled.

"Well that's the thing.." I said standing up from the comfy chair slightly pacing. "She said I used it but I was already good at avoiding people. I did that long enough hiding from Finn.. No offense." she laughed at that.

"Non taken, the kid has his ways about him.. He seems better with you around I must admit." she sighed when I laughed out right at that thought. "Well how about we put it to the test? Try to hide from me, I'll give you two minutes." she said getting up and walking to the door.

"Wait can't you see my aura? Won't that give me away?" I asked her before she was all the way out.

"I think I may know what it is but first you have to hide." she closed the door leaving me alone.

I looked around the room for a good spot, but the place was just too open. It was not meant to be a place to hide it, was there for council. The only acceptable place would be the long curtains that hung on the windows. Quietly I took my place in them, I moved at that same silent speed that I had used in the forest. Serena came in and looked around, she walked right past me and looked under the desk.

"Okay so, I can't sense you at all... Daliah?" she said checking the curtains on the other window.

"Well that's pretty cool. Hiding in plain sight." I laughed coming out from my place. She jumped around startled from my voice.

"Goddess, don't scare me like that." she placed her hand on her chest. " Just as I thought. Some of the warriors for our pack were gifted such stealth skills to help them surprise attack those who wished to harm us. She really did give you a great gift." she let out a breath. "What ever you and Finn must do, it will be dangerous." walking over to her chair she sat down.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused at her sudden concern.

"She only gave this gifts in times of war. I thought we could fend this one off by ourselves. It seems that is not the fate decided." she put her head in her hands.

"I'm sure we'll take care of this.. All of us together." I said trying to reassure her "Thank you for helping me again." she tried to give me a small smile but it did not reach her eyes as it usually did.

"How come you don't just ask your mom about these things, I'm sure she knows more about it than I do?" my face fell, talking about these things with her were difficult.

"She's still sensitive about it... It seems like a painful topic." she just nodded understandingly.

With that I said goodbye and headed to the room I shared with my parents. Before I could get there I heard giggling. To my surprise it was that blonde she wolf with a few others. I tried to avoid them but I had to walk by to get to my room. So I hurried trying not to look at her.

"Hey, its you. Thanks for barging in you pervert." she spat at me as I passed by her voice laced with venom.

"Shes not even worth it Jess, shes just a scared little girl" one of her friends said as I ignored them.

"Yeah he still let you stay after." they all laughed together at that.

I almost stopped, but my better judgement was to let it go. If I went back I can't guarantee Fallon wouldn't hurt or even kill one of them. My rage and hurt spiraling through my chest. I knew he was a player before but he seemed different, like he wanted us. The rejection stung like nothing I have felt before. The tears streamed down my face freely.

When I got to the room my mom leaped up and took me into her arms. That was the last straw I sobbed like a child. Everything I had been holding in just came flowing out like it never had before. It felt like a life time since I had let it out like this. We didn't say anything she just let me cry. Only letting go of me to get some tissues from the bathroom.

After a while I had let it all out, I had no more tears to cry for now. I cleaned myself up and let out a huge breath. Why did the goddess pair me with him, she had plans for us but why let this kind of stuff happen. My chest heaved at the thought of him with another, even with us being under the same roof.

"Thanks mom, I feel a little better." my voice was barely a whisper but she heard me.

"Of course honey, life can be difficult sometimes. I'm not sure what happened and you don't have to tell me if you don't want to but just know I'm always here for you." she gave me a kiss on the top of my forehead.

"I think I just want to relax and hide away in here for the rest of the day okay?" I asked exhausted from crying.

"You bet honey, I'll go grab us some movies to watch and a little ice cream." she smiled before leaving.

Quickly I went and got a shower, changing into some pjs. My mom came back with some of our favorite movies and a big tub of my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream. We settled in for the night, just us since my dad was prepping for a catering event tonight. She put in the first movie, to my excitement it was practical magic one of our all time favorites.

"Lets make this night better." she smiled handing me the ice cream and wrapping us up in a blanket.
