Sword God:Monarch of darkness

Almost 100 years had passed since the first portal appeared, a world which was peaceful and thriving was suddenly thrust into a dark age.

Magic portals leading to another world opened up in the middle of cities and monsters swarmed out of the portal.

The humans of this world are blessed with magic so they were mages and swordsmen who were used to killing beasts but this time the beasts were different, they were later known as shadow beasts and they tore through population of humanity.

But finally humans adapted and was finally able to kill low leveled shadow beasts and after years of trying they were able to stand toe to toe with shadow beasts and finally after 80 years of war, humans eradicated all the shadow beasts in the world.

But the portal that opened was of unknown origin and was linked to another world so mages were unable to close it, all the portal closed up by themselves but one particular portal remained open, but since shadow beasts no longer use the portal as a gateway it was left there and the city became a ghost town, but the portal was still under supervision.

For 20 years, humans have enjoyed peace and quiet without war or attack from shadow beasts, Just the usual animals and beasts, but no one knows how long that peace would last.

"No!!!" A young boy shouted as his body jerked upward and he gasped loudly.

His breathing was ragged and he was panting heavily with sweat covering his entire body, he looked around his small room and slowly his heart beat began slowing down till his breathing returned to normal.

He quickly took off his shirt and walked outside the house he was in, in front of the house was a well which had a bucket close by.

He grabbed the bucket and pour water on his face washing the sleep off his face.

This wasn't the first time he had been having nightmares, at first he was being chased by shadow beasts but this one was different, he was being chased by a demon.

The boy sat near the well and closed his eyes taking a deep breath trying to relaxed his body.

In a small famer village close to the capital city, Xavier had been having dreams about shadow beasts for a year now, but shadow beasts wasn't something he had seen, he had only heard about it from stories of his father.

"I wonder when this would stop," Xavier muttered to himself as he stood up from beside the well.

His father opened the door and saw him outside with a smile on his face, "Oh morning Dad, what are we doing today?" Xavier asked

"Morning, we already did everything we needed to yesterday, I'll visit the city to sell, and maybe buy a few things"

"Dad, I'm going to be seventeen this year, you said you'll buy me a sword when I turn sixteen, you didn't keep your promise" Xavier pouted.

"Fine, I'll buy one on my way back, but don't expect it to be a silver sword, and you have to give up on your dream of being an adventurer, you have no aptitude for magic" his father spoke.

"Then I'll become a swordsman, swordsmen don't need magic, and then we can leave this village"

"There's no stopping you is there, fine I'll buy a durable one" his father muttered as he went back inside the house.

Xavier was confined to this small village because his family was poor, his mum died when he was little, and his dad took care of him ever since, since he was the only child, Xavier and his dad took care of the little farm they had, along with hunting and fishing, that was how they survived but he was determined to change that.

"Xavier!!" His father called from inside.

"Yes.." Xavier answered as he went inside and his dad was on the bed lying with one hand to his stomach, "Are you okay dad?"

"Yes, I think, I don't think I can go to the city, you should go on your own, I'm sure you know who to give and how much to take, this isn't your first time"

"Yes, do you want me to buy you medicine?" Xavier asked.

"Yes, and don't waste all the money on a sword, you know we have to pay for things we bought right"

"Yes, I know, I'll get ready" Xavier spoke with a smile on his face as he rushed to take his bath.

Somewhere in the city of Avalon, a young man with handsome facial features sat in front of a round table, six chairs were around and the table and five of them were occupied and finally the door opened and a lady walked in.

She was dressed in a robe, she had black raven hair that flowed all the way to her waist and she was beautiful but not at the moment, her eyes had bags underneath them and she looks like she haven't gotten any sleep for some days.

She quickly took her seat and cleared her throat but before she could say a word, a man across the table interjected.

"Why did you call all of us here this morning, don't you know we have things to do, and why do you look like that" a bearded man spoke.

"Well I haven't gotten any sleep so it's no wonder, but I think the shadow portal is going to open again" She spoke and all the faces around the table turned grim.

"Are you sure?" The handsome man asked.

"I'm not 100% sure but I'm positive it's going to open again, for years the only thing humans can study about shadow beasts is their crystals, and today all the shadow beast crystals we have in storage began to glow and resonate like they were being drawn to something, a phenomenon that haven't happened since we got the crystal"
