Pacific Ocean, on an Island
After the era of Nirvana, when monsters took control of the oceans, many islands were abandoned and became nests for these creatures. But on one such island, in a cleared area, a group of warriors in uniform armor stood guard, their imposing presence keeping the monsters at bay.
Suddenly, there was a loud roar in the sky, and a triangular, jet-black fighter jet appeared.
With a swift motion, several figures emerged from it. At the forefront was Wang Yi, accompanied by four powerful warriors from the Ma Shi clan.
"Master!" The guards stationed there greeted him respectfully.
Wang Yi's gaze quickly landed on the 100-meter-tall, black humanoid sculpture being protected in the center. He approached it after a brief glance.
If the sign-in fails, he would have to return to the original site where the carving was discovered to attempt again.
...
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have successfully signed in and been rewarded with an increase in will power and talent.]
[Your willpower has been enhanced.]
[This location no longer has available sign-ins.]
As the sign-in notification chimed, Wang Yi's mind seemed to slip into a mysterious world. He witnessed an ancient race, emerging from a primitive era, overcoming countless obstacles, and advancing through the ages. Leaders rose and guided their tribes into the cosmos.
Wang Yi snapped back to reality, as though he hadn't fallen into an illusion at all. Yet, his mind felt transformed, cleansed, and stronger than ever before. His dark eyes deepened, and his aura shifted subtly.
Willpower is an intangible quality—difficult to grasp, but it greatly influences one's consciousness and strength of character.
Wang Yi's previous willpower was nothing extraordinary, especially compared to Hong, Thunder God, or even Luo Feng, who had undergone extensive training from ancient Earth's civilizations. Yet willpower doesn't necessarily correlate with strength.
"This sculpture truly holds a connection to the civilizations from eras before Earth…" Wang Yi mused.
There were two great epochs before the current "Earth," but they had long been lost to the annals of history. This rare sculpture was one of the few remaining testaments to their existence.
"If Earth was destroyed and this sculpture survived, it must be extraordinary. There's more to Earth's secrets than I know."
Wang Yi decided to establish a base on the island to study the sculpture and explore its potential connections to Earth's hidden history. He also issued orders to continue searching for similar ancient ruins across the globe.
His efforts soon bore fruit. Four days later, another sculpture was discovered at the North Pole. This one, however, was white and featured a figure with a human upper body and a snake-like lower body—evoking characters from Chinese mythology.
Wang Yi hurried to the site with Gao Yurong and his team.
[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have successfully signed in and been rewarded with an enhancement to your spiritual talents.]
[Your spiritual realm has been elevated.]
Unlike the willpower boost, this time, there was no illusion. Instead, Wang Yi felt a cool sensation flow through him, as though his entire being had been cleansed.
These two sculptures were the only ancient relics Wang Yi had managed to find. Despite further extensive searches across Earth, no other remnants surfaced.
The elusive metal fragments of the Nine Tribulations Secret Codex also remained hidden beneath the planet's surface. However, Wang Yi was not particularly concerned with retrieving them, as they were meant for Luo Feng.
Wang Yi had already mastered the first Tribulation and knew that the second fragment was located in the Wulong Starfield, one of the nine so-called "junk starfields" of the human universe.
However, the Wulong Starfield was incredibly distant from the Milky Way. Even with a fully functional Yun Mo Planet Sect spaceship, it would take over a year to reach. For Wang Yi, with his current capabilities, the journey would take even longer—at least ten years.
What's more, despite its name, the Junk Starfield was heavily guarded, as it was rich in hidden treasures. Only certain individuals could access and explore its depths.
If Wang Yi wanted to enter the Junk Starfield sooner, he would need to participate in the Virtual Universe Company's pinnacle genius competition.
And even if he managed to sign in at that location, success wasn't guaranteed. It could take much more time.
Patience would be key.
...
On August 18th, Chinese National Time, the autumn skies were clear and bright. High above Earth, in the vastness of space, Wang Yi had deployed an array of monitoring equipment throughout the solar system to keep a close watch on all activity.
Suddenly, a golden streak of light shot through the stars, hurtling toward Earth at nearly the speed of light!
The golden light descended into Earth's atmosphere and plunged into the Pacific Ocean—hundreds of nautical miles from what were once known as the Hawaiian Islands before Nirvana.
At a depth of more than 3,000 meters beneath the ocean, the golden light dissipated, revealing a large, oval black egg approximately twelve meters in diameter. The egg's surface was covered in intricate golden patterns.
Silence.
Soon, a few more streaks of light converged on the scene, revealing a group of men and women with black hair and amber eyes, clad in uniform attire.
"This is the spot where the micro-robot sent a signal," one of them said excitedly.
In various locations throughout the Pacific, Wang Yi's slave guard had established secret bases. With their strength, they had little to fear from the ocean's monsters.
As for the Earth's satellites? Bermuda had long taken control of them, ensuring that no secrets would be revealed.
"Let's go and investigate." The ninth-level spiritual warriors of the Ma Shi clan dove into the ocean. Any monster daring to approach them was instantly cut to pieces by a sharp, cold light.
Without resistance, they reached the seabed and laid eyes on the black egg, which lay undisturbed amidst the ocean's depths. A massive fish, over a hundred meters long, circled the area but kept its distance, startled by the sudden appearance of humans.
Slash!
Before the sea monster could react, it was effortlessly dismembered by a psychic blade.
The Ma Shi clan warriors paid no attention to the beast. Their eyes were fixed on the mysterious black egg, their faces lit with excitement.
"This is it! Just like the information said! We must report this to the master immediately!"
