Back

A figure wrapped in dark and worn out clothes, stood at the very end of a cliff, the expression on their face, contorted in a mad joy, the person barely looked like a human, they looked directly at the rising sun, uncaring for the pain in their eyes, it was the day, the day all had been waiting for, the day for the great champions to come back.

The state of their world had been awful and getting worse for a long time now, fundamental laws were forgotten, it had been long since someone had been able to truly die, all rose back after a while, the creatures had become warped and had stopped following any order, the champions were the only one that could possibly fix it all.

By proving themselves worthy and becoming consort to the world will, the great champions had been sent in exile to become stronger but today was the day for them to come back!

"Oooh, great champions!" cried out the figure, raising its thin and decayed arms in the air.

The figure kept repeating these words over and over again, breaking its voice, after so long, the names of these champions had been long forgotten by the awaiting people but the figure still distinctively remembered the name of one of them, the one closest to suceeding in its eyes, as well as those of many other.

Ignosi, The Ever-Seeking, his might was still remembered by the decrepit people, to them he was the personification of a hero, in their mind, it was clear that he would easily be able to prove himself worthy by defeating the malevolents that roamed this world.

In reality however, their hero was not like that.

Ignosi stepped once more in the lands he had been sent away from by the very world, so as to strengthen, despite the abject state of this world, the scenery was still impressive, his red cloak fluttered in the wind, the golden patterns shining from the sun reflecting on them, a drastic contrast to his dark clothing underneath the cloak.

A pristine white mask on his face with green patterns on it, covering his face, none had ever gazed upon his face.

In his right hand a long staff that he used as walking stick, it seemed made entirely of dark iron at the top of it, rested a cracked, dark mana crystal, it's shape seemingly perfectly round.

Tapping the end of his staff on the ground, he was immediately transported to a great hall, this was where the champions were to meet and discuss, however, many had already met their end in the boundaries, under unknown circumstances.

"Heh" Ignosi let out a small sound with his deep yet soothing voice, this was the equivalent of a chuckle for him.

He walked around the great hall for a bit, looking into the various rooms, weapons, scrolls, books, techniques, armors, everything was here but none were of use to him, the other will most certainly be needing all of this though.

Ignosi had already went through all of the knowledge stocked within these walls and none he had forgotten, if he was to try and get more knowledge he would have to go looking for it.

He sat at the very end of a long table, as if he was the one in charge, this table would hardly be filled at all, only a few were still up and running and many of those wouldn't show up at all, having already given up.

Awaiting for some time, it didn't take long for others to show up in the great hall.

None of their names were important to Ignosi, they may have shown up but they lacked motivation to achieve anything, nothing but husks of great champions, only one of them seemed to possess the motivation, a face The Ever-Seeking had never seen.

Quite the curious sight for him, he must have been a new arrival, one deemed interesting by the will, Ignosi approached the young man, dark hairs, green eyes, slightly taller than average, no muscles to speak of and an idiotic child-like wonder plastered on his face.

"I was not expecting new blood to join us at such a late date" he spoke, ignoring the young man attempt at a handshake.

"Welcome to the great hall, you may have been allowed to join but remember, you lack even the speck of renown or power the other clowns have, if you wish true access to what the great hall has to offer, you must first prove yourself to it and then only may you attempt at proving your worthiness to the will" he then said, his tone constant and polite, unlike his words.

"How can I prove my worthiness?" asked the young man.

"One must find their own answers" simply said Ignosi before walking away, walking toward another champion, a behemoth of a human, wearing stone armor and a mask representing a vile creature.

Among all of the champions, she was the only one he saw fit to give errands to.

He spoke a few words directly inside her heads and she immediately ran off to do as he had commanded, she also listened to his words as of he spoke gospel, she lacked a core quality of champions.

The young man had already left by the time, he had given his orders, it was no issue since he could view his position and actions at all times, he had already casted a spell on him and all of the others.

'Even with the state of this world, you are still able to do it' he thought.

'How interesting...' he thought a few moments later, his expression, unknown.

He sat back at the end of the long table, as a champion he should already be on his way to get rid of the ones that cause havoc thoughout this world but he did naught, he would observe the situation for a while and think about the good thing to do.

First chapter of this novel, this one is deemed to be rather short, don't hesitate to give me feedback!
