Prologue - The Scroll of the Daemon

According to the Scroll of the Daemon, long ago, there was a peaceful field called The Sanctuary of the Springs. It was surrounded by wonderful trees filled with fruit and full of flowers. Beautiful creatures dwelled there, and it was the only place on Ocuery where everyone could live in peace and harmony. Everyone but the two goddesses, Azbris, deity of the heaven Evala; and Senniza, goddess of the underworld Thyris. Senniza wanted the power to take over the world. Azbris kept her at bay for a long time, but eventually, Azbris grew tired. Azbris' mind had slipped away for a few moments, and Senniza took her chance and left the underworld. Senniza challenged Azbris for control of the heavens. Once Azbris accepted, war ensued.

Fires, plagues, and hellish creatures all filled The Sanctuary of the Springs, destroying the land and turning what was once a beautiful field and forest into a horrible hellscape. The war raged on for hundreds of years without any sign of stopping before Azbris had enough. They took Senniza head-on, fighting with all their might. This went on for hours, days, even years. The scroll writing doesn't specify. All it says is it took a long time. Eventually, both of them used their greatest power, and deathly injured both of them. Azbris knew that both of them would return to their respective realms once dead in the mortal realm.

Azbris called upon their best soldier, Solaris. Azbris bestowed upon him the power to fight whoever Senniza bestowed her powers, too. With the powers came a curse. There are two other forms passed down upon Solaris. One was a shadow version of him, following him and persuading him to join the dark side. The other version was a ghost version, which is incredibly powerful but also unable to be controlled and blood hungry. The ancient ones call this "The Bane of the Ghost." Solaris then went off to start a family, and with each second born child, The Bane of the Ghost was passed, and the original host dies.

With each passing generation, a being by the name of Storm takes over the hellscape that was once The Sanctuary of the Springs. Over time, people began being trapped in the old field, now with the new name of "The Shadow Plane''. This being is said to have the powers of Senniza herself. With the new reign, a new species called the Riivad, a human with the bottom half of a spider, spider eyes, large fangs dripping with venom, and large black claw-like fingers. These have taken over and are the known ending to people trapped in The Shadow Plane.

There have been known cases of people who have escaped The Shadow Plane, but they leave with a horrible disease. Those who escape The Shadow Plane alive don't stay alive for long. They get horrible cracks in their skin, and eventually, it shatters, leaving them with a horrible flesh eating disease with no known cure.

The scroll was written as a warning to the people over two thousand years ago. It was expected to change by now, but no changes have been seen. Storm still reigns over The Shadow Plane, and the curse still passed on.
