Hi, my name is Andrew Garfield.
Yes, yes, it's me. Your favorite actor.
Well... you might be wondering why I am here, talking to you. Or maybe not since you've read the synopsis of the novel already...
I'm here to tell you a story, my story, or at least how it began.
It's a myth about how I read my first comic book.
I don't know why that interests you. But here we are, no use crying over it!
My best friend forced me to do so with his incessant, sarcastic, verbal attacks.
"Oh, you haven't read comics yet? I guess you're still ignorant about the world."
"You must have too much time on your hands to be jacking off instead of reading the book I lent you."
"You have acted as Spider-Man for crying out loud... How come you haven't read the Comics yet?"
Hearing such words daily can break a man.
So, I caved in.
"Today is the day I lose my Comics virginity.
Today is the day a man will be born.
TODAY, there shall be no event more important than the one transpiring on top of this here red sofa whilst drinking a cup of tea.
For today, I, the great Andrew Garfield, will finally read the book that has been passed down from one great to another."
I said out loud to nobody in particular.
You can't imagine how disturbing it is to have thousands of people judge you in their minds. But I forgive you.
"first page, here we go!"
I had no idea what was in store for me that day. Putting on my glasses, a magical journey filled with action, drama, knowledge, and excitement began.
Reading the comic was simpler than I imagined it would be. Simple to understand and doesn't require long descriptions since it's already been illustrated.
It was a fascinating adventure! Immersed in the story without delay. Experiencing the world from a first person perspective -the best form of reading- wasn't a hard thing to do.
Walking in another man's shoes. Wearing another man's skin. Learning from their experience.
"Hahaha!" Peter breaking the faucet reminded me of the same scene I acted out. What a day that was! It was also the first time I met Emma, Gwen's actress.
Sadly, Gwen had to die in the second movie... And then they had the audacity to make a third movie. I mean, how stupid can people get!? Killing the Female Lead and then replacing her with another in the next one!
So I refused. It wouldn't have felt the same... Besides, it's not like the contract said anything about me having to act in a trilogy, anyway.
But enough ranting.
The Comic continued with Peter going to highschool. But... "Wait no he's 13 not 15, and he just became a freshman in highschool by mistakenly skipping a grade..." I was puzzled about why I knew so much about this version of Peter Parker.
But no matter, I shoved that thought to the back of my mind, not paying attention to how I knew he was 13 with the comic book saying otherwise, and continued on to see Peter being bullied by his schoolmate.
"Wait, is that Scarlett Johansson? Why is she drawn in the—" By this point, I started feeling excruciating pain throughout my whole body; It started with a little tingling in my eyes, and then my head, going through my neck as I started having a problem breathing, yet I couldn't stop reading the comic.
Flash Thompson, a smile stretched on his face, was choking peter in the locker room.
"You thought I wouldn't find out about what you said to my girlfriend? HUH!?" he said, adding more force to his grip around my neck as he lifted and smashed me on the lockers.
"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!"
I opened my mouth, trying to speak, but not a squeak came out.
Clutching on his hands for dear life as my legs were flailing, I tried to move, breathe, crush his hands but to no avail...
I was confused, panicked, and weak.
"Not so tough anymore, are you?"
'WHAT THE F*** IS GOING ON??' for some reason, that word was censored in my mind.
Before long, I was losing consciousness, my struggles decreasing while my head was about to explode.
But suddenly I was on the floor coughing and gasping for air, regaining my senses just to feel a kick land on my face.
"This isn't over, Parker." Flash said between his teeth.
Hearing several footsteps fading in the background, I was relieved.
After a minute of covering my presumed broken and bleeding nose, I opened my eyes to see a white ceiling.
Looking left and right... that's right, I wasn't in the hotel anymore. I attempted to stand, but the pain was too intense for me to do so. So I determined lying there until I figured out what was happening wasn't such a bad idea.
'I was in the hotel room reading... wait, what was I reading again?' I spent a while trying to remember what I was doing before this, but I couldn't.
I steeled my resolve and picked myself up, a grimace on my face. It was time to flee the premises, not forgetting to smear the floor with a bit of evidence.
Limping towards the door, something came to my attention... Looking at my body again and my surroundings; I realized that I'm actually small compared to wherever I was.
"F***!" why is it still censored I wonder!
I opened the massive door, looking left and right of an empty hallway.
"Now's my chance!" I ran, or more like staggered, to a cafeteria in the same building. Finding an open window, I was able to get out of the lion's den easily.
Or so I wished.
