They didn't know how much time has passed as they were stuck in here, and for some reason, no light was emanated from the holes that the door had. It looked like you could look inside but not the other way around.
"Is everyone ready for departure?" Max said. As he was one of the people in the front of the formation he immediately had some weight to his words, so no one complained about him taking the temporary role of a leader as Andrew didn't even think of being one.
Both Andrew and Max got enough rest now, and even Anna replenished her stamina in the meanwhile so she would be able to continue casting magic for now.
As everyone nodded as a sign of approval, they got into formation and advanced through the hallway. As they walked, they looked at their surroundings. The tomb was quite spacious for now, they could maneuver around if needed. The walls were made of grey bricks, filled with the same black mold that was seen on the door, but on the walls there was a lot more, it looked like every crack in the walls were filled with that disgusting and smelly thing.
The walls were scratched and had green blood on it, sometimes you could see some highly damaged banners or just some material that made up some banners before.
'What a shame..' Max sighed. It truly was a shame.
Just from analyzing how this tomb looked it probably belonged to some ruler in the ancient era. No matter who you were though, your tomb becoming an undead dungeon would always be a pity.
They finally reached the corner. From the start of the hallway they were able to see the fact that at one point they had to take a right turn, and as they got ready to turn...
*BARK* a loud, distorted bark sounded, followed by a jumping sound.
A loud thump was heard as Andrew could be seen retreating backwards, seemingly unbalanced. And as Andrew was backing down, Max was able to see what attacked them.
It was a Death Hound, and an ugly one at that. In some parts it had black skin which could be seen barely holding on to his bones while in other parts only it's bones could be seen. On it's remaining skin, green ancient-like patterns could be seen. It had long claws and sharp teeth, which could scratch or bite your head off if you weren't careful.
It landed back on it's feet after jumping on Andrew and instantly dashed towards the next person it could see. Max.
Seeing this, Max had a change of face, and it didn't seem like he was afraid, rather, he was smirking!
The Hound ran towards Max and as he got closer, he jumped again. Max could be seen placing his shield in front of his body, ready to take the Hound's mad attack.
As another thump came. Max felt his shield heavy, and his hand hurting. It was surely stronger than a zombie or skeleton.
He didn't use both of his hands to defend the attack, but still held his spear tightly with his left hand. As he retreated a few steps away, he felt the weight on his shield lessen.
'This is the moment!' Max loudly said inside his mind, as this was his only thought right now.
He forcefully pushed away the shield from the front of his face to the side, almost losing his grip on it, and looked at the Hound. It was in mid air, Max smirked again.
He, with all his body weight, once again pulled his spear backwards as he made himself stop moving, then with the momentum gained he shot his spear towards where he thought the Hound will land.
The spear flew through the air as fast as the wind and right when the Hound landed, two thuds were heard. One for his body landing on the ground and the other for the spear that right now penetrated through it's entire body.
The green patterns on it's body slowly faded away, and soon the Hound feel on it's side, seemingly not moving.
"Wow man! Is your subclass a Spear Thrower?" Everyone looked dumbfounded at Max. It maybe was a lucky shot the first time, but the second time, even though it could be a coincidence on it's own, it was probably not.
'Heh..' Max looked towards Gwen for some reason. It wasn't her her voice but Will's so it wasn't any reason for him to look towards her.
"It seems I have a nick for throwing spears at enemies, I thought I should check it out." Max, a little bit embarrassed, said. Everyone was looking at him with content to understand how he has such aiming skills, but him giving such a listless answer made them think that he had something to hide.
Of course, not everyone thought that, for example Ashley and Anna both knew that he never did stuff like this before, so they believed his words, and for some reason, even Gwen believed him.
They calmed down after a while, and began marching, which made their jaws dropped to the floor.
As they turned to check what was on the other side of the corner, they were able to see another horde of undead, this time even bigger from the one before. There were about 50 undead, skeletons and zombies again, but this time there was an addition of Death Hounds, about three or so could be seen going around in the hallway, back and forth, left to right.
It looked like the Hounds had a more active personality than the other undead, and maybe that was the reason the first Hound attacked them right as they wanted to turn the corner, as from it's pacing around it got closed to the corner, and as Max and his group got closer to it, it was able to sense the life energy inside of them.
They were lucky for not getting the entire hordes attention that time, as they wouldn't have been prepared for it because the Hound took them by surprise. But because of Max's fast thinking and execution, the Hound died early, and even if it barked no undead looked it's way.
Max went and pulled the spear fully through the Hound's body, getting it back. They formed their formation again, and went towards the horde. As they got closer, one of the Hounds looked at them and another distorted bark could be heard, followed by others.
Rattling sounds and scratching could be heard right after, the horde began advancing towards the group.
