Civil Conversation

"What is it?" After Max and Alexander followed her into a separate room, Aphrodisia asked them once again before taking a seat. Inviting her two guests to seat beside her.

"Spit it out!" Alexander ordered and Max knew he had no other choice, telling Aphrodisia about the talk he had with his teacher.

"This is indeed bothersome…" She thought out loud after hearing what Max had to say. A complicated expression enveloped her figure as she did. It was true that Max spied on their conversation but who could blame him, curiosity killed the cat after all.

She felt conflicted upon punishing Max or not as she remembered that he wielded the Black Dragon Flames and just because of that she was wondering for his reason. She was like this since that made her think about Max being affiliated with the dragons but of course, that wasn't the case.

"Is there a reason you want to know about the Dragonborn? There is no need to fear me, maybe Alexander; but you can tell me what's on your mind truthfully." Aphrodisia comforted Max who was close to telling her about his spirit weapon but as Matt noticed he suddenly retorted, stopping Max from doing so.

'What are you doing? Are you an idiot!? She's obviously trying to find something out' He said after realizing, managing to stop Max from talking just in time.

'is it something important?!' Max said after being agitated by Matt, his body turning stiff at the thoughts that were given to him.

'I don't know exactly what she wants to know but it is something specific, don't tell her anything until then.' Matt said but quickly changed his mind 'In fact, tell her why is she asking this.' He told and Max had to oblige, his question making Aphrodisia lean back in her seat from a sudden shock.

'Just as I thought' Matt proudly said after seeing the obvious reaction of surprise.

"It's because of your powers. You wield the abilities of the Dragons and of course, I want to know where you learned them from" After deciding to reveal her intentions Aphrodisia said in a slightly ominous tone.

"The power of Dragons?" Max was creeped out by her tone but his interest in the small detail she revealed made him decide between being a coward or curious.

"It's about those black flames you can use, that isn't a power accessible to any beast other than the legendary dragons and their successors, the Dragonborn. Now that I told you this you have to respond, why do you have this power?" Aphrodisia who was just one step from jumping onto him revealed more information to the clueless Max before demanding some herself, Matt finally finding it acceptable to tell her about his existence.

"I have to tell you then…" Max phrased it as if he gave up on his tough act. "I was able to use this ability right after my spirit weapon awakened. It's his awakened ability but neither he nor I know why it's this exact ability" Max revealed the least he could, refraining from telling her Matt's name or other specifics.

"A spirit weapon?!" Aphrodisia shot up from her seat as if she was insulted "Bring it out right this moment!" She demanded in a somewhat entitled tone.

"But why?!" Max asked while looking at the lady in front of him who puffed her chest in an attempt to look intimidating.

"What do you mean by why?!" She didn't refrain her tone this time and got extremely close to screaming at Max, this action of hers even earning a call-out by Alexander who tried to calm her down a little.

"Ahem…" She adjusted her voice before continuing. "I won't ask you again," She told Max for the last time and it seemed to work as Max finally moved, revealing Matt's physical form. This of course happened because Matt also accepted this, it seemed like the more they revealed about themselves the more she revealed about her race.

"This… this is incredible!" Aphrodisia gasped in surprise while examining the weapon held by Max, her eyes watering in the process. She reached out her hand, caressing the surface of the weapon as she slowly moved her hand around the white patterns of the shield that begun shining; making Max wonder at the scene.

"It's true!" She exclaimed before shifting her gaze on Max who looked at her awkwardly.

"I hope you are aware that this is a treasure of the Dragonborn's, I thank you for taking care of it and retrieving it back to us but as no one bestowed you with it you aren't allowed to keep it" Suddenly Aphrodisia reached for the edge of the shield while she beckoned, bringing the weapon toward her while Max who didn't let go of it was pulled as well.

'What?!' Max alarmingly thought before using his power to pull back Matt but to no avail, Aphrodisia held it with an impossible grip which made it feel like the weapon was stuck on her hand.

"HANDS OFF!" Max yelled, claiming Matt for such a dumb reason angering him greatly. He pulled once again after being unsuccessful on the first attempt but this time, as his eyes glowing in a yellow hue, his strength increased and he managed to pull Matt out of her grasp with relative ease.

"A mere beta dares to defy the dragons!?" Aphrodisia asked a rhetorical question but her angered tone and expression made Max understand that she was serious.

"Aphrodisia stop!" Alexander suddenly yelled; he didn't know about most of the stuff the two were talking about just now but he knew that if a fight was going to start then Max was most probably going to be killed in it unless he did something.

"Don't intervene Alexander!" Aphrodisia yelled and for once she addressed him by his name.

Alexander looked at the person which he unquestionably loved, her eyes changing color from hazel to burning shades of amber which were fueled by motivation and anger. Horns grew on her forehead, protruding through her smooth skin and claws grew on her hands and feet while two humps grew on her back.

Max was aware of the fact that she was transforming but what he didn't know was the monstrosity was she turning into.

"I SAID STOP!" The voice of Alexander roared before Aphrodisia was flung away by something that shot toward her at an extremely fast pace, Max only being able to see a brown shadow before hearing a loud crash.

'What happened?' Max asked himself as he investigated his surroundings, managing to spot a sizable hole into a wall that once stood whole; signifying the direction where Aphrodisia was flung toward.

"Alexander?" Max looked for his teacher but he wasn't anywhere to be seen. Only one thought came into his mind while looking back at the hole; concentrating on his sense to pick up more information.

Thumps, one after another and in quick succession, that is what he heard from the hole.

'I'm going to regret this decision soon enough' He said after thinking about what he should do, deciding to go and help Alexander if he required any.

Just like that Max paced into the hole, swiftly passing through it before reaching another room through this new 'secret entrance'.

'It's quiet' Max thought as he realized something, right as he got here the sound of thumping stopped.

I really enjoyed writing this chapter. It was a long dialogue pretty much but I think it was worth the read.

I am not able to complete a contract for my story so most probably I'll be finishing the whole story before being able to lock in any chapters.

it's a free novel so I hope you can leave support through some votes, the whole contract stuff took so much time just to end in a total failure.

Hope you had a beautiful day and I hope to see you again tomorrow!
