The Legend of Caelestella [BL]

Warning: Irregular updates at this point in time. Overview: ~[Millennnia ago a star fell from the sky, blessing the lands and illuminating the dark, and the people rejoiced and thanked the star. However, there was a section of land where the star's light couldn't reach. While the people's hearts were lit up, their minds were not; they were easily swayed by the ungrateful voices and soon turned on the star. Lonely and betrayed, the star cursed the lands, saying, "You creatures, so easily tainted by the minds of others, do not deserve my light," and with that, the star fled to the sky, taking its light with it. As the star looked down from the sky at the horrors of the earth, it wept tears for the tainted souls; as these tears reached the land, they burst into flames and burned the land around them; as the land burned, the people's souls and minds were purified and cleansed. Exhausted, the star crashed to the ground, shattered, and as the star shattered, mana flowed out of it, blessing the land for the final time.]~ A powerful mage, destined for tragedy and cursed by his demonic blood and a lonesome boy with a past shrouded in darkness, despair and cruelty. World's Denouement Online

On the verge of the 22nd century, with the culmination of Virtual Reality technology, the world has reached the summit of interconnectivity, and countless platforms have been constructed for the rise to prominence of the ordinary. One such facet is the world of Virtual Games. However, with the vastness of variety in the forms of Games, it is almost impossible to recognize only one, or even several, as the GOAT in the gaming industry. Yet, Svengali, the multi-trillion-dollar company and the host to the greatest minds of the world, as well as the creator of the latest high definition Virtual Technology boasting an almost 100% synchronization rate, has made the claim to have developed the game that will undoubtedly grasp the summit of the gaming world, and solely occupy that spot for eternity to come. Indubitably, such a brazen and outrageous assertion is bound to draw the ire of the gaming community, and so it did. That is, until the legends at the peak of the gaming industry, having participated in the Closed Beta, failed to make an appearance to denounce the game, and rather, alongside the big names all around the world, began madly investing in it instead. Jayden was but one of the ordinary teens drawn in by the flames of discontent, curiosity, and doubt ignited amongst the general populace by such an unprecedented change. But, when he found himself embroiled in the heat of the moment and making a promise he was unwilling to renege, he was forced to partake in the upcoming game that had been riding on everyone's mouths, World's Denouement Online. What does the mysterious game entail to hold the world's attention in the palm of its hand? And how will it impact Jayden's seemingly monotone life?

I like the start of this novel. The MC isn't a spaz like most other novels are from the start he's been pretty calm and takes things as they are. The progression is quick which I look for in this type of wish fulfillment novel. It's not enjoyable to read a bunch of filler where nothing happens or if struggles are put in place needlessly to make it seem like the MC earned what he got. There is no reason to do that in this type of novel since the system is a provider type. Taking the approach to delve more into the items given and provide information and background about them is a nice touch and something other novels often ignore but is the selling point of these type of novels. He has a mission to develop the sect and he is doing it at breakneck speed. The system doesn't have much impact on his path since it's a standard sect system and it doesn't seem to be sentient which is good. I can't stand sentient systems and slave systems where it feels like the MC is the system itself. So all in all it's a good start but could use more world building. But I understand that the beginning is him establishing the sect and he needs personal strength before he can look out beyond his hidden world. I do see the classification of items being difficult to understand in the future. The system used for classification of items and how it all is broken down uses elements of other novels and some new additions. I don't like how you have a grade for an item/manual and then an additional modifier for rarity on top of that it seems a bit convoluted unless that rarity is in relation to the system instead of the world at large.
