Swallow Worms

(Important Notice for calculation of the damage = Wade's damage does NOT stack if he equips multiple weapons. All the other stats work the same way except for the health stat. (mainly because it wouldn't really make sense with his blood longswords. It is only the weapons he has in his hands that count as his damage. For example, if he equips a katana (two-handed) he cannot equip anymore weapons unless he decides to dual wield with another dagger or such. This applies to skills as well. This is just to clear things up in this chapter. Enjoy!)

Wade rented a horse with the 7 coppers he had left and galloped out into the Beast Forest on a search for a Boss monster to test his new weapons on.

After wandering through the Beast Forest with his horse, Wade noticed that there were more mist and fog in the forest the deeper he went. Wade drew [Reaper's Edge], activated [Stealth], and edged his way slowly through the forest, being careful not to step on branches or twigs.

After walking like this for a couple of minutes, the fog had deepened so much that Wade couldn't even see his own feet. Suddenly, he felt a wriggling sensation crawling up his armor.

Wade noticed he was losing health and scraped a part of his leather armor with his katana. Tens of gray numbers appeared.

Wade quickly used [Reaper's Breath] and many more system notifications appeared. Wade couldn't even see anything else but the red numbers appear along the ground. Wade noticed that these worms had low hp and did an extremely low amount of damage to him. His stealth disappeared as he slashed many of the worms into pieces of red mist. Wade used [Inspect] and finally saw the reason why these worms were everywhere.

Swallow = Depending on how much meat of the opponent you have swallowed, you will be able to increase your damage. 1-10% = 5% damage increase, 10-20% = 15% damage increase, 20-30% = 20%, 30-40% = 25%, 40-50% = 30%, 50-60% = 35%, 60-70% = 40%, 70-80% = 45% 80-90% = 50%]

Wade decided to employ another strategy. Since these worms had blood, why not let his new longswords absorb it. Wade sheathed his katana and pulled out his two longswords. Wade leaped and slammed both of his swords downward into the ground. The second that the swords touched the ground, it caused a crater in the middle of the ground and blood oozed into it.

Wade stabbed [Bloodbath] in the crater and saw his health increasing steadily as the sword absorbed more blood.

Soon Wade's health maxed out and he saw [Blood Tank] activated. Wade then looked down and saw many dead worms. These worms were still moving as the blood around them was getting absorbed. Wade sheathed [Bloodshed] and equipped his [Wild Wind Wolf Bone Dagger]. The reason he did this was to use its skill, [Weak Wind Blast]. Many worms started to pour into the crater and soon Wade was losing more health than he was gaining.

Wade aimed [Weak Wind Blast] at his feet and it immediately killed all the worms beneath him.

"Damn it."

Wade cursed as he continued the fight for another 10 minutes and the hordes of worms seemed to be almost endless. Wade had used many of his skills but he thought that this approach wasn't very effective so he sheathed his dagger and pulled out his other vampire sword, [Bloodshed]. Wade activated [Blood Manipulation]. He then realized that these worms had an incredible amount of blood in them. With his [Blood Manipulation], he could feel that even a mile away there were still worms coming toward him.

Wade closed his eyes and wrested the blood out of all the worms. After doing so, Wade felt a warm liquid drenching his feet and moving up his legs. Wade opened his eyes and deactivated [Blood Manipulation] and looked down just to see massive amounts of blood pooling around his waist.

All of a sudden, his head started ringing and after sheathing his longswords, Wade collapsed in the middle of the pool of blood with dozens of worm corpses floating alongside him.

A few hours later

Wade woke up to the sun shining brightly on his face. He realized the worms dropped practically nothing except a crap ton of copper coins. He had almost 3000 copper coins in his storage wristband.

Wade held his hands up and saw them dyed in red. It smelled like rust and Wade tried to sit up only to realize he was still in a small puddle of blood. A system notification sat in front of Wade's face.

Wade's body felt as if it was out of strength but he saw a notification that made him smile in pain.

Wade's new menu looked incredibly stacked. Wade assigned 30 stat points to every stat to keep it balanced while allowing the [Strength] and [Agility] stats to dominate over the rest by a slight amount.

There weren't any streams or rivers nearby to wash in so Wade limped into town wearing blood-soaked and torn leather armor. He had thrown all his gear into his storage ring except the two daggers as with his tired body, he couldn't carry any extra weapons. The minute he walked into the square, it turned quiet. All the players and NPC's stood away from him watching as he opened the door and limped in while stabbing a dagger in the door to help him up. The chatter then resumed as he disappeared.

Wade walked into his room as he took off his torn leather armor and the clothes he had underneath. Surprisingly, he had no wounds underneath. The only thing you saw was a tanned body with lean muscles.

Wade took a shower and washed all the dirt and grime away then decided to log out. The mental stress that he had endured while using [Blood Manipulation] was enough for a man to faint after using it for a few seconds. Yet, Wade had used it for a minute straight on over 2500 targets.

On top of a stone building near Wade's house, a dark silhouette talked into a handheld transceiver.

"It seems that our good friend Wade is living the life. I see nothing wrong with him. He is not a suspect for the murder."

In a building on the opposite side of Wade's house in the slums. A bald man spoke into a similar handheld receiver.

"Very well. Take him off our suspect list for now but monitor his actions as I don't trust him after he left our gang to live a supposed simple life."

The dark silhouette replied in accordance.

"Yes sir. He won't escape my sight. You can be assured about that."

The dark silhouette threw the handheld receiver on the roof of the building and crushed it before incredibly flipping off the roof.

Wade held his head as he sat on his bed. The backlash from using [Blood Manipulation] was a bit too much for him to endure but his will was quite indomitable and it had never been broken.

"Shit. With this headache, I can't focus on anything for a few hours."

Wade cursed as he walked clumsily to the door and wore a thick black overcoat before closing the door to the balcony.

A few minutes later.

Wade enjoyed the sun rising as he had logged out of the game quite early due to his headache. The sun rising was one of the benefits his eyes could enjoy if he logged out earlier than when the game logged you out automatically.

Wade walked back into his apartment and made himself a smoothie before closing the door and heading out. He put on some earphones before blasting some rock and thinking about his next actions.

An hour before Wade logged on to Second World Online today.

A man wearing a black suit with two daggers on his waist and a katana on his back stood on top of a skyscraper looking down through binoculars.

"It seems that this rich aristocrat has a few plans tonight. I'll take him out before he gets to complete any of them."

The man grabbed a grappling gun before firing it toward the window of a dark office on the highest floor of the next skyscraper. As the grappling hook connected to the window with a slight click, the man connected the grappling hook to a pole near him. He then took out a mechanical ascender and activated it as he flew up the rope. When the man neared the window he stopped the mechanical ascender and took out a round object with a red beeping light. He then placed it on the window and pressed a button. When he pressed the button, the round object disappeared and the man nodded, satisfied before sliding down the rope again.

The man deactivated the grappling hook and it fell for a bit before hooking back onto the grappling gun. He then removed any traces of his existence before shimmying down the building with a rope in hand.

Wade had eaten a bit of fast food outside and as he jogged back to his home, he noticed a glint in his eye that appeared on the top of a building. Wade pretended not to see it and continued jogging. When the glint disappeared, Wade took out a black telescope before looking through it on the same spot where he saw the glint. The telescope showed a man with surveillance equipment setting up a telescope with a sniper rifle on the left of him.

Wade put back the telescope in his pocket before jogging at his usual speed back to his apartment.

"It seems that my gangster friends have gotten a bit suspicious of me assassinating some of their dealers. I better lay low for a bit now."

Wade muttered as he neared his home. He was armed with a combat knife in a sheath near his calf. As he entered his home, he checked for any sign of entry and when there was none he sighed in relief.

Wade checked all around his house for a few minutes and when he discovered nothing out of the ordinary, he went straight to bed with a gun beneath his pillow and a knife in his hand.
