Chapter 1Chapter 1: All New

(Mia's POV)

Darkness swarms around me as I fall from the edge of the cliff. His demonic laughter echoing around me as I plunge deeper into the dark abyss, only to awake with a scream seconds before I am consumed by whatever monsters awaited for me below. My mother burst into my room to make sure I was alright.

"I'm fine mom really, it-it was just a bad dream." I lied once again. This isn't the first time I've dreamt about this man, nor the first time I've lied to my mother about it. Each time the dream feels more and more real, and each time it becomes more difficult to lie to my mom. My therapist believes it could be from all the stress of changing schools.

"High school is a very stressful chapter in our lives and given everything you've been through it's no surprise that your stress is being projected in this way." He would say as he scribbled in his little book taking notes on all the little details. "Just breathe and enjoy what you can, remember you got this!" I get he means well and believes I need someone in my corner but, do I really?

I shake my head to clear the fog and the thoughts of the nightmare from my head and put on a brave face as I see my mom hesitantly stand in the doorway, I can see the wheels turning in her head as her right hand clenches her heart. Close to tears from the fright I got up and walked to where she was standing to give her a hug to reassure her that I'm fine, only to get a smack on the back of my head.

"Ow mom what the heck-"

"You nearly scared me half to death! I thought someone had broken in or something bad had happened to you!!" She lectured me as she pointed at the bottle next to the lamp on my nightstand. I had been up late last night working on a sketch and had passed out drawing again forgetting all about the medication. My mom's a bit taller than me but only by an inch with the same sandy blonde hair only cut short highlighting the frame of her face and the same sky blue eyes with flecks of green in them. It's just been the two of us since I can remember.

"I-I'm sorry mom.." I sighed. I hate worrying her so much like this but it's not like I can help it.

She gave a heavy sigh and hugged me "It's alright you can't help it I'm just glad you're alright. Now get cleaned up and come downstairs for breakfast."

< 1 hour later>

I pull up into the school parking lot in my red Jeep and hop out of the car. Straightening out the navy blue skirt of my uniform, I grab my bag and books as I head to the door. Messaging my mom to let her know I made it to the school I bump into something hard I fall to the ground, my books scattered around me. I look up to see what or who I ran into, only to see that my du****s ran into a wall. Could this day get any worse. I put my hand to my head in embarrassment then start to pick up my things.

"Are you alright?" A smooth voice says that I can only assume it belonged to the pair of shoes that had just approached me.

"Other than being thoroughly embarrassed on my first day. Peachy.." I say suddenly breathless as I look up into the pools of two sparkling deep blue eyes that greeted me as he helped me pick up my things. He was tall and lean, with shaggy brown hair and a tan to match. Realizing the amount I've been staring at him, I turn my face away trying not to blush "Uh- I'm sorry you really don't have to do that.."

"It's Wilson, and I don't mind, it's the gentleman thing to do, you know." He says so matter of factually. "What's your name?"

(Wilson's POV)

"Mia, and thank you!" She stutters a bit, her cheeks as blushed as a coral reef, her voice as alluring as a siren's song. I admit when I first saw her run into the wall I struggled to hold back a laugh. Her flustered face was just so adorable, it was when I looked into her eyes that I could see it. They were as deep as the ocean waters themselves, the waters I long to swim in, taking me home.

"Mia…" that was all I could manage to say. I wanted to stay that way as long as possible, taking in every detail. The second our hands had touched only confirmed it, she was my mate and she was wondrous!

The bell for class screamed in our ears, causing her to jump up in a panic. I watched as she scurried off, frozen in place like a love sick guppy. An unfamiliar twinge of warmth and curiosity grows inside of me as she disappears into the crowd.

(Mia's POV)

I rush off to my first class, doing my best to keep a steady pace so the skirt of my uniform doesn't fly up too high. It's not a very big school but this being my first day of my Senior year and at a new school, I can honestly say I have no idea where I am going just yet. That is until I see the one and only familiar face in the sea of uniforms, Brittany. She's about my height standing at 5'4, slender, long brown hair, eyes as green as emeralds, and a pale complexion riddled with freckles. I swear if it wasn't for her being here I would feel more lost than I am now.

"Mia! Where the heck have you been?! Day one and you are already starting a bad habit." She teases me as I slow my pace and walk into the classroom with her. Laughing along the way she takes my hand guiding me to our seats. I sat down and pulled out my sketchbook and started working on one of my drawings while we waited for our history teacher to arrive.

"GOOD MORNING CLASS!" We turn as we hear a rough voice shout.

Arlan's gaze darkened with hatred. “If I knew I was betrothed to you, I would have killed myself before you even killed me!” Oriana mirrored the same emotions as him. He pulled out a dagger and offered it to her. “It’s not too late. Just slit your throat with this and you'll bleed out painlessly.” She accepted the knife, her fingers clutching its handle tightly. The next moment, he was pressed against the wall and the knife was on the right side of his neck. “How about I try it on you first, my betrothed?” “Feel free to try. But when you fail, this knife will first taste your grandpa's blood, then yours.” Anger rose in her eyes, and the next moment, blood was flowing through the right side of his neck. She cut deep enough to severe an important blood vessel. “You should not have challenged me,” she sneered and stepped back, waiting for him to collapse. He simply smirked and brushed his finger along the deep wound on his neck. “Seems like you failed.” She watched the wound on his neck heal on its own and felt shocked to her bones. “You.. what are you?” “Guess?” ----- Instagram- mynovel.20 Facebook- Author mynoveltwenty

Bound by an ancient prophecy and haunted by the ghosts of her past, Eve is now at the mercy of the one being she should hate and fear the most—The Hand of Death himself. Hades, a king carved from blood and his own soul's decay, determined to avenge his family's slaughter and rid his people of the werewolves. He believes Eve is the key to his victory. To him, she is nothing but weapon foretold by prophecy, a tool he will wield to destroy the opposing forces threatening his pack. Yet, he finds himself craving this powerful yet broken woman. Leaving him questioning if she is truly his weapon or the one destined to unravel his carefully laid plans. *** He stalked toward me, a predator closing in on its prey, his eyes dark and unreadable. "So, you laugh?" His voice was low, dangerously soft, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I swallowed hard, suddenly aware of how difficult it had become to breathe. "Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." In an instant, he closed the distance between us, so fast it left me breathless. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body, the heat of him making my skin tingle. I gasped, but before I could say a word, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming my mouth with a force that sent shockwaves through me. The kiss was punishing, hungry—I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. When he finally pulled back, I was trembling, my chest heaving as I struggled to regain my breath. His eyes, dark and stormy, searched mine with a possessive intensity. "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck. "I’ll have every other part of you instead." **** Dark fantasy romance Morally Grey ML Angst Suspense ENEMIES to lovers Smut (like sprinkles on your ice cream)
