Another Test? (2)

Chwidenchas was one of the most dangerous spider aberrations that one could encounter deep underground. I was also known as Spider Leg Horror by the surface dwellers, and it was an extremely dangerous and aggressive creature.

Chwidenchas were able to climb up walls as well as any spider, but were also proficient burrowers that were able to move as quickly under the ground as they could on its surface. A common tactic for chwidenchas was to hide beneath a layer of earth while using its tremor sense to notify it of any approaching prey.

This allowed them to sense the movements of their target extremely precisely, and some more powerful of them could even predict the next moves based on the steps of their prey, which was a rather dangerous ability.

Upon detecting a suitable target, the Chwidencha would burrow under or behind their prey, then suddenly emerge to strangle, constrict, or impale with its dozens of spiked legs.

Chwidenchas were also known to simply charge at their prey in a flurry of legs and claws in an attempt to crush them with their many limbs. After killing its prey, the Chwidencha would usually drag the body off to somewhere it could safely devour its victim, as it took it several hours to do so.

It was clear that the spider aberration was waiting to ambush Valkorion as it chose him to be his target. Not to mention, far in the distance, Valkorion noticed that the Chwidencha was surrounded by several Ettercapts who were listening to the monster.

It wasn't that surprising, because Ettercpas were cowards at heart most of the time and were easily subjugated by more powerful spider-like creatures, like in this case, as the chwidencha in front of his was already Sequence 7 Extraordinary Creature.

After Valkorion was attempting to remember everything that he could about these wretched abominations, because they were rather common in the deep mines and underground caverns of the Valyrian Freehold. 

Subterranean spaces like this one typically swarm with spider-like creatures, but for them, this was rather a safe haven. However, this safe haven was often disturbed by the miners of the Freehold and thus quite commonly led to deaths.

'Encountering a chwidencha could be terrifying indeed owing to their fearful presence and their ability to regenerate lost legs within a day, which could be lopped off with no damage done to the beast itself. However, they were very sensitive to sound, which left them particularly vulnerable to sonic attacks; loud, high-pitched noises would cause a chwidencha to attempt to flee...'

Suddenly, he remembered one book that talked about the weaknesses of the various spider-like beasts, monsters, and Extraordinary Creatures, and there were also some weaknesses about the chwidencha.

Making noise...

That was it.

He looked around, thinking about the method of making as much noise as possible, which would most probably at least shock the chwidencha. He knew, as this was already Sequence 7 Extraordinary Creature, it wouldn't escape from the battle upon experiencing sonic waves, but it should still be enough to incapacitate it for a while.

He could then use the opportunity to slay the beast when it would be in a state of shock, but how?

Unfortunately, it seemed that the spider aberration decided not to give him any more time, as it appeared in front of him with a flash of speed and stabbed him with several of its legs. The legs of the chwidencha were exceptionally sharp and strong enough to be capable of slicing through solid rock and stone with ease.

And this was already Sequence 7 Extraordinary Creautre, so its power was even greater, which forced Valkorion to promptly dodge to the left, only to be met with a huge Ettercap that was lunging at him at great speed.

He immediately raised his sword and hacked forward, stabbing the Ettercap into his stomach as he dodged another strike from the chwidencha. The creature, despite its huge size, was rather agile and fast, mostly due to it already being Sequence 7. 

If not, he seriously doubted that it would be this fast, but it was, fortunately enough, still slower than him by a good degree. Valkrioon focused on utilizing his superior speed and agility against the chwidencha that was several times of his size, and it was working rather well...

'The first thing is to clean the battlefield... the Ettercaps are the problem right now.'

He chose to strategically target the Ettercaps as the first ones to go because they were obstacles on the battlefield; if he were to effectively fight against Sequence 7 Chwidencha, they would be only making things worse.

They would be hindering his movements as he started attacking the Ettercaps, which was rather easy because even though the Ettercaps were under the command of the Chwidencha, the sider-like aberration couldn't really effectively command them.

Valkorion was thus running all around the space, dodging the clumsy Ettercaps that were attempting to attack him, occasionally also avoiding the strikes from the chwidencha, as he grabbed the nearest Ettercap and threw Ettercap into the trajectory of the chwidencha's leg that cleaved entire Ettercap in half.

Blood splattered all around the place, as everything was covered with the purple blood of the Ettercap. Valkorion grinned, seeing this, as he managed to get rid of another Ettercap as the number was getting lower and lower, after he decapitated the head of the last of them.

In fact, Ettercaps were not really something that was feared among the common populace because they were rather weak monsters. Normally, even Bugbears or sometimes even Goblins were more dangerous than Ettercaps.

The real danger of the Ettercaps lay in their capability of ambushing the people from their hidden spots; when that was taken from them, their danger level was lowered tremendously to almost nothing. 

That was also the main reason why Valkroion managed to dispose of them without much effort on his part.

Once the ettercaps were disposed of, he looked at the chwidencha that was getting enraged when it realized that all of its minions were dead and stretched in anger as it lunged forward at Valkorion. 

He immediately raised Excalibuer and blocked the legspears of the chwidencha that slashed at him in one swift move. 

Valkorion then flipped backward, and the moment he landed, he started running away from the chwidencha in irregular patterns, making it harder for the chwidencha to pursue him, as his free left hand roamed into the backpack and searched for something. 

Not long afterward, he took out another one of the supercharged crystals that was used to make light in the darkness. He immediately threw the crystal in the air, closed his eyes and used his sword to slash through the crystal while it was still in the air.

In a split second, a small soundwave was heard through the entire cave when the crystal was destroyed, and it really paid off because even the Sequence 7 Chwidencha stopped in its tracks as it was frozen in place for several seconds.

'It seems that it worked rather well... even though the numbness from the mini-explosion is anything but pleasant...'

Valkorion muttered as he stretched his body a bit because the soundwave that was created from destroying the crystal was rather unpleasant to him as well, but not that much compared to the state of chwidencha.
