Chapter 9 - School Club (2)

*ding dong deng deng!

The school bell rang loudly. Indicate the end of today's lesson. "Okay, that's it for today. Don't forget to take notes and erase the blackboard when you're done", the history teacher said. """Okay, thank you sensei""", and with that, the teacher left.

Various types of commotion immediately ensued. All the students in the class did not immediately leave to go home. They are now planning to go to the promotions of the clubs they will each visit. Same with me, after I finished taking notes on the material on the blackboard, I immediately closed my notebook and put it in my bag. After that, together with Juutaro and Ame, I walked out of the classroom and headed towards the drama club room.

As seen in the pamphlet, I followed the map and arrived at the front of the room. After separating from Juutaro and Ame who went to their respective clubs, I stepped inside.

As expected, the inside of the club looks quite large with various kinds of property items contained within it. As soon as I entered, I saw a lot of people who were gathered on the seats that had been provided. Written on a medium sized blackboard on the front, 'please wait here, recruitment will start at 3.50pm'.

So, after reading the information, I walked over to the other students and greeted them. "hello", while taking the nearest seat.

"Hello"

"hi!, interested in this club too?"

"Yeah, I think everyone here came because they were interested. What kind of stupid question is that?"

"Shut up Una! I'm talking to him!"

"a-hahaha, yes. I came here to become a new member," I said. Answering questions from a girl who looks cheerful and full of enthusiasm. With several other people answering my greeting or just nodding.

"Looks like we still have to wait a bit longer. Where is club senpai?"

"oh, they're in that room, look. Looks like they're having a meeting", the cheerful girl pointed to the door labeled 'meeting room' and explained to me.

"oh I see"

So, I waited for the meeting to start while chatting with the two people in the seat in front of me. It seemed like they were good friends, because with how they behaved with each other, that explained a lot.

"My name is Sakura Ichiba! Nice to meet you!", said the cheerful girl, or should I say, Ichiba-san.

"Hello, I'm Una Kazuki. Nice to meet you," said another girl.

"My name is Ryousuke Toru. Nice to meet you two"

"un! I hope for your cooperation, club mate!"

"haha, yeah"

'what a lively girl', I thought. With her petite body and innocent aura, she looks like a child and is approachable. Don't ask her face.

To Kazuki-san, she looked like the serious and reserved type. With a body that is very tall for a woman, even almost the same height as me. And this one too, don't ask me how she looks.

We continued some of our chats to get to know each other better. During our chat, more students flocked to the club room, and by the time it was exactly 3:50 p.m., all the available seats were almost completely filled.

*drak!

The meeting room door opened. From there, as the door opened with a bang, all the talking that was going on between the new members immediately stopped. From the inside, came out a lot of senpai with... Gosh, what is that...?

What I saw in front of me were senpais wearing various animal costumes. Tiger, elephant, cat, crocodile, etc. I also saw the girl distributing the flyers this morning who was still wearing a bunny costume.

'what will they show?' I thought curiously, seeing the costumes they were wearing, would they be showing a wildlife drama?

We waited with anticipation for what might happen. Not a single sound could be heard from the new members, they were all looking forward to the performance that the club senpais would put out.

"quack quack!"

"Rooaaaaar!"

"Auuuuuuuuu!"

"Meow, meow~~~"

"huha huha huha, U Uu Uu!"

"Cut cit cit!"

"What the hell... "

"Is this zoo hell?"

"Kya! That's funny!"

"... Damn. Is this the kind of club I'm going to join..."

Various kinds of astonished murmurs could be heard. Even though there were strange people who took pictures with their cellphones and said that it was funny, but most of the students were starting to feel disappointed.

The events in front of me continued for a while. During the show, students who were disappointed by what they saw started walking away from the room. Not just one or two, but a lot of them.

To be honest, I also wish I could stop seeing this horrific scene in front of me. Let me explain, the senpais who came out of their meeting room in costumes earlier, after appearing, immediately screamed and acted as if they were animals. They imitate the sounds of the animals in their costumes and also imitate their behavior. It was horrific to see in person, and it lasted for ten minutes. I'm even starting to doubt whether they really are part of this elite school. But, having seen their theater in the past, I know that they must be better than this.

So, I didn't go. I watched and waited in agony while thinking about what they were really up to.

"Hahhh, hahh… That was quite tiring. Fuhhh…", a senpai in a lion costume said, while taking off his lion mask and smoothing his sweat-drenched hair.

"...."

"..."

"...."

"Umm… No applause?", senpai the lion asked. After noticing the silence in the room.

It was only then, upon hearing his voice, that we new members somewhat forced and unenthusiastically applauded.

"hahaha! Thank you so much for watching!", with lion senpai's words, the other members started bowing to the audience, that is us.

"Wohoooo! Good show senpai!", out of nowhere, an excited shout rang out. I turned in the direction of the voice and saw a man with a blindfold over his right eye. Screaming and clapping enthusiastically.

"Phew. Thank you everyone. Sorry for our actions that were a little unclear earlier, we all want to test your willingness to join this club", it seems Senpai Lion is the leader. He had been the one leading the conversation all along.

So I see, that was a test earlier... Although one I could say, that action was not only a little unclear, but very unclear!

"Therefore, to everyone who is still here, we welcome you to the drama club!", senpai the lion announced. With a big smile on his face and arms open.

It seems I have entered a rather strange club.
