Special Evolution

When Matthew opened his eyes again, all Matthew saw was darkness. Matthew knew that his eyes were clearly opened, but he still couldn't see anything. Matthew then felt the familiar feeling of his body floating and tried to move his body around but he couldn't. Not because he was restrained or something, he could feel his body shifting slowly, but the feeling of moving is nonexistent. Or to put it in a simple term, he feels like he is currently moving on a treadmill.

As Matthew wonders where he is right now, suddenly a similar rectangular window that he first saw when he first came into this world, appeared again in front of him. But this time, the words written on the rectangular window are,

-Do you want to hear the evolution manual?-

This time, the first thing that Matthew checked is to see whether there is the yes or no option box at the bottom of the window to prevent the reoccurrence of his stupidity in trying to open the floating window.

After seeing that the two option box existed, Matthew sighed with relief and then replied in his mind,

'Yes'

The window then disappeared once again and the machine-like voice that he heard for the past few days, appeared again on his head.

'The evolution process will give The Host a boost in The Host's strength by strengthening certain parts of Host's body or even increase the overall mass of host's body. And some stages of evolution also may add new body parts or aura abilities to host's body that are related to host's species characteristics.'

'The usual procedure for the evolution process is, when a creature reaches the required level for evolution, the process will begin automatically when they're asleep, but for Host's unusual condition, instead of the usual evolution procedure, host will undergo the special evolution.'

-Do you want to hear the special evolution manual?-

'Yes!'

Then the usual machine-like voice is replaced by another familiar voice that Matthew knew.

'Hi, Matthew! How is it going down there? It is me, God!'

'God? Are you here right now?

'This is a pre-recorded message that I added to the system before I gave you the system. Since the special evolution process is quite different from the usual procedure that occurred in this world, I myself will be the one who will be explaining it to you.'

'First, congratulations on working hard and reaching level 5! Now that you are able to undergo your first evolution, please listen closely as this may be the last time that I, myself will be guiding you on how the process works. Now, before proceeding with the special evolution, you are able to see what your evolution will be if you proceed with the normal evolution process, go and check it first.'

Then, in front of Matthew, appeared a 3D Hologram of his supposed new body post the evolution process. Although he can't move, Matthew can rotate, zoom in and out to see the 3D hologram more closely. The color and shape of the hologram are the same as Matthew's real body. But there seems to be some difference from how Matthew remembered his body supposed to look.

The one thing that Matthew noticed right away is that his body size is way bigger than his current one, the overall size is maybe twice as big or even bigger than now. And he also noticed that the muscles in his body seemed to have more mass and were more robust than before. The small little claws on his feet and his teeth also increased in size and they also looked sharper and tougher.

Looking at how his body would have become when he evolved, Matthew guessed that he would even be strong enough to go head to head against the boar if his claws were as sharp as they looked. And his body size is now big enough that he will be able to eat the wandering spider that he usually hunts in just a few bites. He imagined all the amazing things that his new body will be able to achieve, 'Having my revenge on the wolves and crocodiles won't be that far off, I guess.'

As Matthew was lost in his imagination, the voice started to speak again,

'I believe you already have enough time to adore your new body right, Matthew?'

'Ah yes, god I'm sorr... Wait, this is a pre-recorded message…'

'I know it's fun to wonder and think about the future, but time is still running in the real world while you're still here in your consciousness. And don't get yourself losing track of time since the concept of time is a little bit different in the real world and your consciousness world. You may feel that you've only spent minutes here, but it turns out to be hours when you wake up, so please remember my advice and don't spend too much time here.'

'Yes God, thank you for the advi... Ah, it's a pre-recorded message..'

'Now that you've seen how your body is supposed to be if you went through with the normal evolution, let's see how the special evolution works.'

After confirming his answer, besides the 3D hologram, appeared another rectangular window with a white outline, black background, and a white text can be seen written on the window.

Matthew then moved his imaginary hands and mentally clicked the text. The moment Matthew did so, the words written on the window changed. The bionutrients storage tab becomes smaller and moved to the left corner of the window, while the rest of the screen is filled with a list of the wandering spider's body parts, starting from its fangs, exoskeleton, legs, webs, mouths, even its respiratory and digestive organs are written on the list. And there are also numbers written at the side of the body parts.

'Wow… I can add all of these to my body?'

'And Matthew, if you asked if you can use all of those body parts, the answer is well yes, but actually no.'

'Wait what? God are you really sure this is a pre-recorded message?'

Without answering Matthew's last question, the voice continued 'You can surely add all those things to your body and change your body into a spider completely, but it requires a huge amount of bionutrients to do so. And I'm sure that right now, you are already used to and have fallen in love with your new chameleon body and won't be having plans changing to any other species completely in the future or at least for now.'

'Well, that's true…'

'Now that I've given you the basics, please spend your bionutrients wisely and think things thoroughly before deciding to add or change your body parts. See you next time, Matthew, Good Luck on your adventures!'

After God's voice was completely gone from his head, Matthew then tried fiddling away with the special evolution tab. Matthew tried clicking on the text that said spider legs and spider legs soon appeared on the 3D Hologram of his body. The spider legs came out of Matthew's spine in the middle of his body. Seeing how gruesome he looks, Matthew repeated the words, 'Take it back, take it back, take it back!' aloud in his mind.

Scrolling through the list, Matthew didn't even look at the respiratory and digestive organs since he didn't have any plans to have a double respiratory or digestive system in his body.'

After going through the whole list, there are only three things that caught Matthew's attention. They are the spider's venom glands with Enzyme glands and the spider's fangs. The venom glands is the thing that produces the spider's venom and the fangs are the sharp teeth that can be used to inject venom inside Matthew's opponent, while the enzyme glands are the place where the enzyme that prevents Matthew from being affected by his own venom is produced, so if Matthew wanted to add the venom glands, the enzyme glands is also a necessary body part to add.

The venom glands cost him 50 bionutrients, the enzyme glands cost 55, and the fangs only cost 10. Checking his 3D hologram model, Matthew could see the two fangs on both sides of his mouth, the fangs are actually only two teeth that came out of his mouth and became larger, longer, and sharper than the rest.

'No, I don't want it to come out of my mouth like that! I want it to be like vampire fangs!'

Just as Matthew wanted, the two fangs shrunk and became smaller, but it is still slightly longer than the rest of the teeth inside his mouth.

Matthew then clicked one more time on the venom glands. Although Matthew couldn't see the difference from the outside, he could see that the bionutrients requirement for the evolution increased.

'Damn...I can have twice the amount of venom from the spider! This special evolution thing is really nice!'

After making sure that he doesn't want anything else, Matthew then said to the system,

'System, I've finished the special evolution process, can we proceed with the evolution?'

-Are you sure you want to spend 165 bionutrients in exchange for 2 venom glands, 1 enzyme glands, and a pair of spider fangs?-

'Yes!'

And once again, the usual occurrence of Matthew losing his consciousness happened again.
