Chapter 4

"Don't help then." He decided in a dry voice, going over to the high shelf propped against one of the walls to get a file.

He would have to get someone to check the apartment over and he would also have to record it and mention the leak to the plumbers.

He got distracted with making plans in his head, not concentrating while he was getting the file which was a slip up on his part.

He dislodged the entire shelf of files, the bulky paperwork starting to fall on him.

Leon never took his eyes off Jaxon so he was already on his feet before the files even started to fall, pulling Jaxie out of the way.

They end up with Jaxie pressed up against the wall, Leon crowding him even as an audible crash of fluttering paper resounded behind them.

Jaxon had his hands up against Leon's bare chest, a lump forming in his throat as he tried to settle his eyes on a body part that wouldn't make his heart race.

He gulped, closing his eyes to try and gather his thoughts together, what was with him today?

Leon had his arms on both sides of Jaxon's head, trapping him in although Jaxon was pretty much very safe now.

Instead of letting him go, the Head Warrior preferred to stare him down with icy, hooded eyes.

Just as Jaxon was working up the effort to speak, a quiet knock rapped on the door.

Jaxon immediately knew who it was and he glanced up expectantly at Leon, expecting him to release him but a small smirk just played on the blond's lips.

Jaxon gasped as Leon pressed in even closer, a knee slipping in between his legs, he glared at him, whatever he was up to, Jaxon wanted no part in it.

Too late though, Darian was already coming in.

"I should have texted but have you eaten lunch yet? Do you want me to get you some or will you…" Darian trailed off.

He had been looking down into his phone as he walked in, freshly changed into grey sweats and a loose shirt, he had only looked up when he got to Jaxon's desk.

He frowned when he didn’t find the Head Beta sitting in his usual spot, he expected him to be back from Yvonne's apartment by then.

Darian's dark blue eyes scanned the room briefly before he caught a whole load of Leon all over Jaxon.

His first reflex was to rip Leon off Jaxon but he was quick to stop that thought in his tracks, it wasn’t his place to but that didn't make him feel any better.

"What the fuck is going on?" Darian asked coldly, eyeing up Leon like he was fitting him for a shroud.

Jaxon was about to push Leon away, to brush it off as one of those things Leon did because it was, just because they were childhood friends didn't mean he was free from the Head Warrior's advances.

Leo was already one step ahead of him, he was already pissed off at Darian and him acting remotely possessive over Jaxie was what tipped him over.

"You being a cockblocker, that's what, D." He answered in a drawl, swivelling his head so that the reddening spot on his neck was out in full gaze and just as he had been expecting, Darian read it wrong.

Jaxon found his voice at this point. "No." He said calmly and sternly. "No fighting in my office, go do it elsewhere." He warned, pushing Leon away.

He had been privy to a few of their fights and they hadn't been pretty sights, he didn't want something like that going down in his office.

Leon stepped away and he got his freedom, he was used to them ticking each other off just for the fun of it, he just wished he wasn't at the center of their rifts.

Jaxon backed slowly away from Leon, his thoughts shifting to delicious pumpkin pie. "Put a shirt on, Leo or you'll catch a cold." He directed, backing up one more step.

He bumped into something, that's odd, he was sure that he hadn't been going in the direction of the wall.

Slowly, he looked behind him and then up to Darian looking straight down at him with a dim silver gaze.

Well, this was awkward.

"Sorry, didn't see you there." He chuckled nervously, his shoulders curving inwards as he planned to make a quick escape.

He was stopped by a firm grip on his waist, making him freeze up in shock because Darian never willingly touched anyone, not unless he was about to inflict pain.

The shock of the action made him freeze up for a few precious seconds that he might have used to make good his escape but who was he kidding, it was Darian.

For the second time in the space of a few minutes, he was slammed up against something, it wasn’t the wall this time.

Darian had used the hand settled firmly on his waist to pull him back, making him fall against the Warrior’s body, his balance tilted.

Just as he was figuring out the hell kind of mess he had gotten himself into, Leon prowled forward, walking right into Jaxon’s personal space.

And that’s how Jaxon found himself trapped between the two Head Warriors, feeling and looking way too small in between them, maybe he shouldn't have stopped his workout routine because their size difference was unrealistic.

That should be the least of his problems though, what exactly led up to this? Was it the way he got out of bed today? Or the jeans? It was definitely because he was wearing jeans.

Now he was starting to regret not allowing Mae to read his palm the last time she came over, maybe she would have been able to predict all of this and he thinks, he thinks that the worst of his problems was that he didn’t hate it.

At first Darian and Leon shared a dangerous look over his head and he was starting to think that maybe it’s just one of their rows, all he had to do was try to calm them down and he would be off on his way to eating Agnes’s delicious pumpkin pie.

“I…” he started to say, catching their attention.

Jaxon had been looking up because somehow in the few years after he came back from college, he stopped growing and now Leon was over a head taller than him and his head was barely up to Darian’s shoulders.

When they both looked down, their usual eye colors faded to the shade of their status, a glinting silver and his words died on the tip of his tongue, every semblance of words were wiped entirely from his brain as a matter of fact.

Unable to hold their slowly heating gazes for long, he dropped his eyes, his hands unconsciously coming up to steady himself against Leon’s bare upper body, feeling like he was going to go over, it didn’t help that he was pressed up against Darian’s entire front, that alone was enough to make him go lightheaded.

With his eyes down, he didn’t notice the last look that Leon and Darian exchanged, a sort of agreement flashing in the silver depths of their eyes while Jaxon was trying hard to not hyperventilate.

What did the questionable books that he read teach him to do in situations like this? His brain drew up a blank, as expected.

His circuits were fried and he should be proud of his brain for keeping him breathing and upright.

He was always busy and had such high expectations of himself that he hadn’t gotten the chance to experiment, he was also spared any prodding questions because he was deemed too busy for them, he had never been so happy to have so much workload at moments like those because he had a very reasonable excuse.

He literally felt his breath leave him when he felt them tuck their heads on either sides of his shoulders, Darian started off with tiny butterfly kisses on the right side of his nect which made his tummy wound up tighter while Leon went in on the left side of his neck with a hot, wet lick.

He gritted his teeth against the foreign sounds bubbling, he wasn’t sure how any of this was supposed to feel but he was going to say that it felt really good but he really felt like… he was going to… pass out…

Darian had tightened his hand around Jaxon to hold him close so it wasn’t difficult to support his weight when he went limp.

Leon stepped back a bit in shock, the flash of horror on his face quickly changing to one of disbelief. “You killed him?”

Darian shot him an unimpressed look, easily hoisting up Jaxon’s limp body into his arms. “I wasn’t the one chewing on his neck.” He stated calmly, making mental calculations.

“Wait, where are you taking him?” Leon asked, his voice going hard as he followed after Darian who was making his way out of the Head Beta’s office.

“To my apartment.” Darian graced him with a reply.

Leon blocked off his path, his face hard. “Now, why the fuck would you want to do that?” He inquired, tilting his head to the side a bit to show his displeasure.

Darian let out a frustrated huff of breath. “I don’t know about you but I’m not about to let the Alpha catch me carrying his precious and very unconscious Head Beta around and my apartment is the best bet because it’s the closest and follows none of the familiar hallways.” He was nice enough to explain but that was only as far as niceties would go because he shoved Leon out of the way, brushing past him to continue his journey.

It was no surprise that Leon quickly followed
