The Female King
"Like a flying kite, I wish to be free."
Fifteen-year-old Berniss Rousseau, dreamy princess of the Kingdom of Connick has a wish that may not seem to happen in her lifetime: flying a little red kite outside the castle walls.
Because her dream is forbidden in the eyes of her father, Berniss hesitantly conforms to his command yet still aims to flee from the castle— not knowing how she can leave her home nor find a path towards the other side of the unknown.
But as she discovers a secret door at the end of the hedge, Berniss encounters freedom and adventure, together with Tadeo Febo who disguises himself as Mila, the princess's lady-in-waiting and possibly... a life-long companion.
