Another day had passed since was Mei Mei was reborn. The world knew her as Lee Joohee, so she didn't have to waste time getting a new license on anything like Kenjaku did.
She was immediately able to consistently set up gates for Kenjaku, the first of which he just arrived in front of.
'So now all I need to do is focus on clearing gates as fast as possible.'
Set up next to the gate was one representative from the Korean Hunter's Association and a few handyman. They were responsible for making sure they got their share of the proceedings and everything went well inside of the dungeon.
Unfortunately they had to take this route because they couldn't form a guild just yet. Reason being, they couldn't form one with just two people. They needed one more person.
"By the end of today, I'll find someone else to join, Ken. You just focus on clearing these dungeons."
Mei Mei was with him as they approached the gate. She was going to make sure the extra hunters she called to "fill-in" spots just completed their roles without a hitch. Everything inside of the gate was Kenjaku's responsibility.
Tapping him on the shoulder, Mei Mei said quietly, "Have fun, Ken. Hurry up and come back to me.~"
Kenjaku quietly nodded as he entered the gate, his gaze focused on the mission ahead.
[Inside the gate.]
The full moon shone brightly in a blood red sky, illuminating the forest Jin was walking in with an eerie light. The sounds of howling could be heard in the distance and the figures responsible for these howls, were standing upon nearby cliffs.
"Werewolves huh? Heh. I know that those howls are just a distraction. The real enemy...is right here!"
WHOOSH!
An innumerable amount of steel-fanged wolves shot out of the bushes, all of them charging at Kenjaku with reckless abandon.
Kenjaku smirked and opened his palm straight ahead, his eyes emitting a golden glow.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
A seemingly infinite amount of spears appeared out of thin-air, piercing the wolves so easily one would think their flesh was made of butter.
"500 Legion Spears."
Since this was the weapon the Absolute Being was killed by, he made the spear the weapon of his sacred crusade against the Rulers and the Monarchs.
The weapon of his ultimate revenge.
This was the ability he blessed Kenjaku with. And this was only the beginning of its overwhelmingly destructive potential.
If one could see the forest from above, they would think lasers were being shot rapidly through it.
That was how fast the spears destroyed the enemies in front of Kenjaku.
But he didn't stop there.
Using his viral sonar, Kenjaku picked up on the location of any magic beast within the forest and eliminated them as he moved through it.
"Is this all a C-rank dungeon could offer?"
Grabbing two of the dead wolves by their necks, Kenjaku crushed them, absorbing their biomass into himself.
Seeing this, more wolves rushed at him from behind, assuming that he was left exposed at this moment.
Not even turning around to face them, six steel like spider legs shot out of his back, piercing through their skulls before they could even try to dodge.
Of course, he didn't forget to absorb them too.
Taking the traits from the wolves, Kenjaku developed shortened versions of their steel fangs and an incredibly enhanced sense of smell.
With this, locating the wolves was even easier.
Kenjaku ran through the forest, slaughtering the wolves as if their lives meant nothing. Even if they ran, his spears would catch up to them in no time.
Seeing the wanton slaughter of their kind right in front of their faces, the Werewolves standing atop the cliff couldn't hold back anymore.
"AWOOOOOOOO!!"
After a bloodcurdling howl that seemed to apply some type of magic debuff to Kenjaku, they jumped down and charged at him, their fangs itching to taste his blood.
"That magic spell tried to apply some type of fear to me. Tch."
They were three werewolves rushing at him, each of them followed by a medium sized army of wolves.
One had to realize that even the biggest dog in the world wasn't even half the size of one of these wolves, let alone the werewolf which was about five times that size.
No normal C-rank hunter or even B-rank could defeat these foes by themselves.
"Is trying to make me afraid the best you can do?"
Just as Kenjaku called a spear to his hand, a piercing howl shot into the night sky, causing everyone to freeze in their tracks.
An echoing voice that seemingly came from every direction at the same time said, "Pink-skin, you can understand and speak our language?"
Kenjaku could feel the power within the voice when it spoke. He could tell that this opponent wasn't going to be easy.
"I can speak just as well as any other beast."
The night went quiet for a short while after Kenjaku's response. Suddenly, the wolves started clearing a path through the forest as they stood to the side and lowered their heads.
This was a strange response to his genocidal actions.
"Don't be put off, man-filth.This is their penance for letting you get this far...and your reward for achieving such a goal. Now, make your way to me so we can finish this little farce."
Kenjaku didn't have any complaints about this arrangement. After all, the faster he beat the boss, the better.
Kenjaku proceeded through a long line of wolves until he got to a large clearing in the forest.
In the middle of the clearing was a massive throne made of bones, each side of it surrounded by at least ten Werewolves each.
Sitting on the throne was a large white werewolf, about half the size of the normal red Werewolves.
His body was filled with deep, ancient scars, some so deep that that it was wonder that the creature was still alive.
The back of the fur on its head was braided and gold pieces covered then, perhaps showing its royal lineage.
All of its limbs and fangs were covered in bloodied steel, showing that the beast had just finished eating or, the more likely conclusion, just finished fighting.
Whichever it was, it didn't matter at this point. The beast had its eyes locked on Kenjaku, it's gaze never even shifting once the moment he showed his face.
*sniff* *sniff*
"The closer you get to me, the more I realize I was wrong. You are no man...you smell like one of them!"
BOOM!
The white wolf got up and shattered his throne, his anger soaring to the skies. The full force of his mana erupted from his body, pushing back the werewolves standing guard around his throne.
'So much power...I can tell that's it right at the cusp of going into A-rank, but it's still in B. He's probably the strongest monster among the B-ranks. Heh...'
A crazed smile appeared on Kenjaku's face as he cracked his neck, preparing for battle with the creature. He didn't care about it's foolish words or it's culture or what it fought for. All he knew was that one of them was going to die today, and it wasn't going to be him.
"Can't you smell it, brothers?! That wretched scent! The scent of those who opened the gates and started this inter-dimensional war! I've marked this foul, nasty stench into my nostrils the moment I saw them that day!"
The wolf walked towards Kenjaku, it's anger building with each step.
"Oh? You're approaching me? I thought you would've learned from the ill fates of the dead mutts around me."
The wolves all started howling as their eyes turned blood red, each one of them hoping they could rip Kenjaku to shreds right at this moment.
His ruthless comments and blatant disregard for them infuriated them to no end.
The white wolf's claws glowed with crimson mana as he got closer and howled, "Be still, brothers! Your king will get you the revenge you deserve! This dog of the Rulers will not leave alive today! We will rip out his entrails and hang his dead body up as our banner!! Then those fake gods will know that we will not take this destruction lying down! I am Zaiga, King Of The Wolves! And I swear that I shall avenge my brothers!"
WHOOSH!
The moment he finished speaking, the wolf rushed at Kenjaku with its maximum power, it's claws glowing with a blood red light.
Bringing out a smaller, more compact version of his own claws, Kenjaku met the wolf head on, clashing claws the creature.
BOOM!
The surrounding area was destroyed as the force from the clash erupted.
Unable to back down due to their stubborn natures, both of them slashed continuously at the other, each of them taking hit that would've bisected other hunters of similar rank.
'Little does he know, I transcended the concept of 'slash' a long time ago.'
Unable to be cut by the beasts claws, Kenjaku rushed through the attacks and slashed Zaiga across the chest, causing blood to burst out of the wound.
"GARGHHHH!!!!"
Zaiga howled and clutched his chest from pain, but that only lasted for a short moment. In the next, he regenerated and met Kenjaku with his fists, instantly figuring out that his slashes weren't doing any damage.
Seeing this, Kenjaku put away his claws and clashed fists with the beast, the two of them fighting so fast they looked like little crimson stars moving around the forest.
"Zaiga, Zaiga, Zaiga, Zaiga!"
The other wolves chanted his name as he fought, his power seemingly increasing from the support of his brothers.
Zaiga fought valiantly, fighting fist to fist with Kenjaku for such a long time that even the latter became surprised.
'This wolf man...'
Dodging Zaiga's punch while they were both mid-air, Kenjaku grabbed the wolf by his arm and threw him down into the ground, causing a large crater to appear from the impact.
'...deserves respect.'
Compressing all of his biomass into both fists, Kenjaku extended them forward and charged downwards with all of his might. Every bit of power that Kenjaku could muster at this moment was put into this strike.
Just as Zaiga landed on the ground, he bounced back up and punched both fists right back at Kenjaku, intending to meet his head on.
BOOM!!
The impact was so incredible and destructive that almost half of the forest was leveled by a steadily erupting red pillar of mana created from the two warriors.
Weaker wolves died immediately while the stronger ones only got heavily injured. But they didn't take their eyes off of the battle. They couldn't. The existence of their race in this forest was at stake.
Within the erupting pillar of mana, Kenjaku and Zaiga still fought vehemently as their regeneration did not allow them to fall.
Through bruised, bloodied and battered fists, the two exchanged blows as if there was nothing else that existed in the world other than this fight.
Both of them swung their fists for the survival of their people. While the destruction of one was more imminent than the other, it was still for the same purpose.
So giving up was never an option. No matter how much pain they felt.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Each blow sounded like a giant hitting a hammer against an anvil with all of his might, sending reverberations through the entire dungeon.
It was deafening beyond compare.
This continued for days within the dungeon, the two refusing to stop until the other was dead.
At this moment, the two of them stood one against the other, with Zaiga gasping for breath. Kenjaku on the other hand, was mostly uninjured, due to the fact he wasn't made up of normal organs like everyone else.
Physically, he was just the Blacklight and Prototype Viruses given human form. He was even further away from a human than Zaiga was.
Seeing this, Zaiga caught his breath and folded his fists once again, his eyes never losing the glow of a warrior.
"Incredible..."
By this time, Kenjaku's opinion of the wolf race had changed drastically. Especially Zaiga.
"...you still carry the iron will to fight!"
Kenjaku's mana surged in full force as if he hadn't fought at all over the past few days. In fact, Zaiga could feel as if it had gotten a level stronger.
'Who is this man? I've never seen a dog of the Rulers fight with such tenacity! They're usually cowards who scamper back to their masters the moment they get into a real fight! But this man...his fists showed me who he really is.'
Looking around at his remaining comrades standing atop the cliffs, looking down worriedly at him, Zaiga couldn't help but think that he was blessed with good comrades.
"Brothers! Promise me this today!"
The wolves listened intently, patiently waiting for his words.
"Promise me that if I die today, you will not try to fight and challenge this man! I know you can feel it too! Just like us, he's a hot-blooded warrior through and through!!"
AWOOOOOOOO!
The wolves howled in agreement, shaking the valley with their overpowering voices.
This was quite the change from their earlier attitude.
"Then, if you die, Zaiga, I will find a way to take you with me, so you can see destroy those Rulers with my own two hands."
Zaiga was surprised as he heard this. This man wanted to destroy the Rulers? Then they shared the same goal!
"HA! I knew there was a reason I liked you, fellow warrior! Then this attack will be our last! Don't hold anything back!"
An overwhelming amount of mana started to converge over Zaiga's fists, the wolf continuously charging and compressing it.
"Then, Zaiga, I will respond with pure, divine might."
Kenjaku's Heart Of The Absolute drastically increased in speed, empowering his body with more mana than it could hold.
If he didn't release this within a few moments, he would explode into pieces from it.
But, for him, that's what made it more exciting. The sense of crisis was exhilarating.
"Are you ready, Zaiga?"
"Awoo! Don't hold back, warrior!"
WHOOSH!
The two of them charged forward with their most powerful attacks, their eyes filled with emotion as they got closer.
"Zaiga."
Time seemed to slow down as their fists got closer and closer to each other. It was as if Kenjaku's mind wanted him to savor this moment for eternity.
"You were magnificent. I will never forget you as long as I live."
Suddenly, Kenjaku's fist turned into a knife hand as he muttered, "One and Only Holy Spear."
BOOOMMM!!
The explosion that occurred after they clashed was so absurd that it even sent mana shockwaves flowing outside of the gate, blowing those who were standing outside away.
The woman from the KHA clenched her teeth and tried to stand up with all her might as the overwhelming mana continuously pushed her back.
"This...is only a C-rank dungeon! Why...am...I sensing the power of an...A...rank coming from it?!"
The effects only lasted for about a minute before it stopped, causing the scene to go back to a state of peace.
But, no one who was there could sit still. That mana was just too much. It caused their very souls to shake from its presence.
Immediately, the woman started making calls to various people, in an effort to get some help.
"That hunter was only a D-rank! The boss probably killed him already! That woman assured me that he was going to be fine, but...aagh! I should've listened to my gut!"
Back inside the forest, well, the few trees that remained of it, Zaiga could be seen laying on the ground, his entire chest missing from the impact of the Holy Spear.
Standing over him were Kenjaku and his wolf comrades, the latter holding their heads low out of respect for their fallen king.
"You know, Zaiga, if you had surrendered, I would've let you-"
"Ha! Gurgh! Don't tell me that nonsense! Take this experience as a gift from me...to you. I'm at peace knowing that my death will...Gurgh!...play a part in the destruction of the Rulers...!"
Even as his own blood and organs poured out of his mouth, Zaiga died with a smile on his face, his heart at ease.
This was the end of Zaiga, King Of The Wolves as the world knew him.
