LOG 53: The Fifth Task

My wounds had been aided further by some of Valery's old equipment and her skills with berries. It had been just now when I was informed of the boat Valery stole while I was apprehended by the Bureau, and now it is our vehicle for travelling to the next part of our mission.

"It was easy to knock off some sailors," Valery boasted with a sharp smile as we drove forth eastwards.

A moment while later, we received a call from headquarters. It was from whom I assume is Madam Boss.

I answered the call why resting my legs in the gunwale and was left shocked to had seen Domino, the leader's secretary, instead. She was at the control room and carried with her a dozen sheets of paper. I was also able to take a sneak peek of Charlotte doing some electric work with a few other of her colleagues.

"Ms. Domino?" I said.

Valery left the steering wheel and took a gander at the screen.

"Oh, hello, Ms. Domino! Is Madam Boss absent today?" Valery asked.

"Sadly, yes," she said. "She's not feeling in herself right now, thus, I'll take charge. So, how does she do this? Er... Report... I guess?"

"We got the fourth thingy. Luna got injured but she's in a fast track to recovery. Now we're headed to where, Ms. Domino?"

"Four? Nice. I'll make sure Madam Boss gets hold of this news. Your next destination is in Mahler Island."

"Mahler? That's only a few miles according to my phone," I said.

"From Valkrie? Yes. Oh, and maybe extra of these information will help. Mahler Island is on lockdown. There seems to be an outburst of gang activity within the area."

"We'll show them who's boss!" Valery said with enthusiasm.

Domino chuckled. "Good luck! And be careful. We've heard of the Bureau behind your back. You will be passing a little bit more checkpoints. Surprisingly, the police knew it was you along, Luna, since the very first time you lied on your first checkpoint. They also found weird Rocket gadgets--"

"--My bad! I forgot to take those back. They're holographic identities of ourselves. Thought it would be clever to trick them when Luna and I made an excuse that we went Archery training."

"No wonder," said Ms. Domino. "The police could've easily visit a town hall and check if there were really any competitions. That's probably how you failed despite your gadgets, and is another reason why that project was turned off years ago."

"Aw. I had a jolly good time using them," said Valery.

We said our last remarks, as did she. Our conversation ended from there.

"So, Luna? You look feisty. Ready for the next round?" Valery asked.

"No. I'm going training in Mahler Island."

"Training? Like battle training?"

"Yes. Fletchinder evolved and now what? He needs to learn new moves too. Especially Zorua. I've been giving them less attention nowadays."

"I guess you make a point. Off to training it is! So, you're gonna battle me? Please!"

"Or we could participate."

"Participate?"

"Have you read the brochures? The Battle Tower is present. It has three rounds, and luckily, is a two on two battle. So you can team up with me."

"That'd be fun if it weren't for us being on the watch list."

I sighed. "Forgot about those. But I'm not giving up that quick. Dock at the farthest point and I'll use Gardevoir just this once."

"You got it."
