Plato

Elena and Plato were sitting in the living room that morning. "I have made you breakfast," she said to him. Plato was still in his bedroom getting ready for the day.
"Thank you," he replied to her.
"Hurry," she said to him as Plato was taking his time.
"In a bit," he replied again. Plato finally arrived at the table to his food. The both of them sat down for breakfast. Plato without wasting any time took out the docket that was detailing the planet Archimedea. This clearly annoyed Elena.
"Will you quit it," she said half jokingly and half with anger.
"I need to read up on it, it is urgent," he said to her.
"Is it really," she asked him.
"Yes," he replied.
"You are not even going for the mission, why would it be important to you?" she asked him.
"If Sergey comes with the required data then we may have to make more trips to that side of the universe," he said to her.
"When Sergey returns will he not have all the information that you need. And this docket of yours will be rendered useless, will it not? she asked him.
Plato was not happy with where the conversation was headed. "You are intelligent, aren't you," he said to her with a smirk on his face.
"You are dating a scientist, what did you expect?" she asked him.
"Nothing different," he said to her. "I expected the same."
Elena sipped her coffee and went to the kitchen to make some coffee for Plato as well.
"Plato," she said to him. "If one day we were going to get married you will have to put in more work and give more attention to the family."
"I know that," replied Plato.
"You are not showing any signs of progress," she said to him.
"Elena," said Plato. "I will put in the work when the time comes, now can we talk about something else. The weather is surprisingly good, is it not," he said to her trying to quickly change the subject.
"It is," she replied unconvincingly. "You do know I have a good career going on for me as well," she said to him.
"I know," replied Plato.
"Then why do you make it like it is always about you, that your job is the most important in the world. You give off the impression that you have the most interesting life and the rest of the mortals have to make do."
"I do not think any of that Elena, I'm just trying to do my best," he said to her.
"I just want what is the best for us," he said to her.
Elena poured the coffee from the flask and poured it to his glass.
"Things will need to change Plato," she said to him, "you will have to find a way." She put the coffee on the table and kissed Plato.
"Things are about to change, i promise," he assured her.'
Plato went to the office and went to meet the director as he had been called by him. Must be something important, he thought and as he walked up the stairs to the floor of the directors. As he went there he saw Romanov sitting in the chair beside the office door. He was shaking his leg fervently as thought he was in big trouble . Plato went and sat beside him, "what is it?" he asked him.
"What seems to be the trouble?"
"The minister of commerce is here," replied Romanov.
"What for?" asked Plato.
"He knows," said Romanov.
"He knows what?" asked Plato.
"Everything!" replied Romanov.
"The Plutonium?" asked Plato.
"Yes," replied Romanov still shaking as though the earth was ending. And Plato too started to feel that the world was ending. That their world was ending .
"Are they shutting us down?" asked Plato.
"No, quite the opposite," said Romanov.
This bought a quite a bit of shock to Plato. "I do not understand," he said to his senior.
"Kid," said Romanov. "What do you think greatly interests the minister," he asked Plato.
"Russia?"replied Plato.
"Of course," replied Romanov. "And what else?" asked Romanov.
"I'm really not sure," replied Plato.
"Money," repied Romanov.
"And now what represents a great deal of money?" Romanov asked again.
Plato kept silent.
"A material that is not found in this planet and that makes it extremely rare. And anything extremely rare is really expensive."
Plato chose to maintain silence, yet again. "If they realize that the future of energy is Plutonium which they will eventually sooner or later, then Russia controls the most important resource in the world. This will make Russia the most powerful nation in the world," finished Romanov.
"I do not see a problem with that," quoted Plato.
"You will very soon," replied Romanov.
"Very soon!" he muttured under his breath
