4 Chapter 4

20 Years Ago

We’re seated in a very fancy restaurant with big smiles on both our faces, his more than mine. We just pulled a prank on my mother that I got pregnant out of wedlock. Being a very Christian woman my mom almost collapsed over the phone and it was honestly funny the way her voice changed over the phone.

I actually don’t see why I can’t be pregnant for Ethan since we’ve been in this relationship for some time now even though he hasn’t proposed yet it’s okay to me. Our waiter walks up to us and while I order my meal I can’t help but notice the way Ethan is staring at me. I look towards his gaze and ask what he wants to eat, “I’d rather have you.” He said.

I just order his favorite meal when he goes out for him to save our waiter from his misery and the awkwardness at our table. A ping comes from phone and I smile at the ten text messages my dad sent to me asking about the prank. I reply with a simple ‘IT WAS JUST A PRANK’ at least that will get them to leave me alone on my date.

“Honestly, I’d rather have you Queen. I want to make you the Queen of my heart, my home and everything that’s mine. I want to wake up to see your beautiful face every morning, to see your tummy get bigger because of the countless children we’re gonna have and to just live together in love for the rest of our live”. I’m so confused about all what Ethan is saying but I’m sure he means what he’s saying because of the sincere look on his face.

“Ok--’’, I was gonna reply but what Ethan does next is gonna be the highlight of my day as he goes on one knee and says, “Will you be my wife Queen?”. He opens the little box he brought from his pocket and I see a gold ring with ‘MY QUEEN’ written across it with little diamonds around it.

I’m taken by surprise and just when I was about to answer, the staff of the restaurant comes out with a huge cake with the words ‘SAY YES, PLEASE?’ on it. I’m literally taken by surprise and I’m moved to tears. He knows I’m a very emotional person and he does this to me.

I remember Ethan is still on his knees and I just want to scream my answer to the whole world but I’m quite reserved I don’t want to make a scene even though the scene’s already made. “Yes yes Ethan yes I’ll marry you”. He places the ring on my ring finger with shaky hands and I pick him up and we kissed a very soft and peaceful kiss and my stomach becomes a pool of butterflies. I’m brought out of this trance by the loud clapping of the other people in the restaurant.

I can’t wait to tell my people at home even though im sure the news would be all over the internet that the CEO of Hearn’s Law Firms has gotten engaged to the number one eligible bachelor even though now he no longer is a bachelor.
