Brothers

--1 Year Later--

Neji launches a palm strike towards Zenoshiki's chest, but it is quickly countered by Zenoshiki as he uses a soft high block with his left hand and then steps into Naji's guard before thrusting a spear hand towards Neji's stomach.

Neji manages to use his free hand to redirects the attack off to his side as he quickly retreats just in time to avoid a series of aggressive attacks.

The two brothers who are now four years old and preparing to join the academy are currently sparring without chakra in the courtyard of the Hyuga Clan Compound. The Courtyard is very beautiful featuring many sakura trees now in full bloom and a beautiful stream that flows through the rock garden surrounding the sparring circle in the middle.

Over the past year both brother have proven themselves time and time again as they continually learning new techniques and improving their old ones.

It was a clear night and a full moon shone down on the courtyard illuminating the faces of the two brothers both of which are panting by now. As for why the two brothers were awake? Well, neither understands why, but there was quite a bit of commotion in the compound that night.

It didn't seem to be stopping o they had decided to head outside and train until things settled down.

It seems that neither of the brothers have managed to pull ahead of the other in any way or form as both are equally battered and bruised. Despite Zenoshiki having superior speed and strength, Neji makes up for it with his strategic mind and superior intellect.

After a few moments of panting, Zenoshiki looks up at Neji and asks, "Neji, why do you have to have that seal on your head and I do not?"

Neji, startled by this question simply frowns, "Zeno, you know that it's because I am a member of the branch family. You are a special case."

While Neji knew the reason Zenoshiki was not required to be sealed, he was forbidden from mentioning it so sadly he wasn't allowed to tell his little brother.

Zenoshiki furrowed his eyebrows as he then launches himself at Neji. He dashes forward faster than before and manages to slip through Neji's guard. Neji attempted to retreat but it was too late.

Zenoshiki then slams two palm strikes into his chest before twisting his right wrist and slams Neji in the chest with a two fingered spear hand. Neji, unable to withstand the assault collapses to the ground breathing heavily.

Zenoshiki stands over him frowning, "Does it not anger you brother? That just because of your birth you have to wear that seal?" As he states this he gestures to a greenish seal which resides on his brothers forehead.

What is the purpose of this seal you might ask? Well, this seal is used by the Hyūga clan in order to protect their kekkei genkai, the Byakugan. Members of the clan's branch house wear this seal so that, when they die, their Byakugan will be sealed away, preventing its secrets from being learned by enemies.

The seal can also be used by the members of the main house to discipline branch house members. If a main house member uses a special hand seal, the branch house member will experience intense pain, discouraging them from disobeying the main house again. If the pain is great enough, it can even kill the branch house member, destroying their brain cells.

The fact that his elder brother, Neji, was forced to wear such a seal pained Zenoshiki. He hated it. Why should his brother, a prodigy, have to wear such despicable thing. His father too! He had tried to ignore this as simply tradition, but he could not.

This is slavery! How could he just stand for this. 'Lord Hiashi, I swear one day I'll remove the use of this accursed seal.'

Neji however, snarled before shouting, "Of course I hate it! Of course I feel like a slave! But I have no choice! Until I get stronger I will have to live this way got it?"

Neji's outburst made Zenoshiki realize that of course he hates it. But he has to put up with it. "I'm sorry brother. I didn't mean to..." Zeno whispers as tears start to develop in his eyes.

Neji sighs before standing up and wrapping his arms around Zenoshiki, "It's okay Zeno."

After a moment the two simply lay down and stare at the cloudless sky admiring the thousands of glistening stars in the sky above. Suddenly, after a few moments, Tobias, a member of the Hyuga main family, walks over to them.

"Zenoshiki, Neji, you two have both received summons from Lord Hiashi." Turning to face him, the two brothers saw the tired and saddened look on the young 10yo Chunin face.

Tobias had been the prodigy of the Hyuga clan in the previous generation. He was also considered Uchiha Itachi's only rival. However while he was able to keep pace with the young Uchiha during their childhood years, once the two joined Genin teams Itachi quickly outpaced Tobias.

Despite being overshadowed by the Uchiha, Tobias was still a prodigy who managed to become a chunin at 9 and is in the next few years, expected to be promoted to Jonin.

Neji and Zenoshiki then turn and bow to the boy sensing that something was off. With his head down Tobias then proceeded to lead the two boys into the Main branches head office.

After opening the door, Tobias gestured for the two to enter. Upon them doing so, Tobias enters behind them and closes the door. The room was a large circular room filled with large banners hanging on the walls and papers on the ground around the desk.

Sitting in his chair behind his desk, looked to be an exact clone of their father. The clan leader, Hyuga Hiashi. Upon seeing the man Zenoshiki tightened his ball into a fist, but restrained himself as currently there was nothing he could do.

Hyuga Hiashi looks depressed, but he still managed to sit upright and address the two young boys, "Zenoshiki, Neji, sons of my brother Hizashi, and my nephews. I am sorry that I must report this news to you."

Neji looked up and asked, "What news lord Hiashi?"

Hiashi sighs before stating, "First, before I tell you, let me start from the beginning. Earlier this night, the cloud envoy who had come to the leaf to negotiate, broke into the Hyuga main household and kidnapped Hinata, my daughter."

This caused both Neji and Zenoshiki to look up in shock. While they both disliked the main branch, Hinata was an exception. Hinata was a sweet delicate little girl who never wanted to hurt a fly. She was like a little sister to them so this came as a shock.

"What happened? Is she okay?" Zenoshiki asks desperately.

Hiashi nods, "I managed to reach the kidnapper and time, but in my rash decision I killed him. I killed a envoy from the land of lightning. Even under the current circumstances at the very least they will demand for my head."

He then sighs before continuing, "I'm sorry to report that your father is going to be used as the sacrifice rather than me."

Upon saying the last part Hiashi's eyes began to water despite his best efforts. Neji, stunned, does nothing, but Zenoshiki, unaware of the man's tears, begins shaking before looking up, and snarling, "Where is he."

Hiashi then wipes at his eyes as discreetly as possible before replying, "The clans elders have already detained and eliminated him...."

The last part caused Neji to fall to his knees, tears streaming down his face as he looked forward as if into empty space in silence. Zenoshiki however, exploded.

"HOW DARE YOU!" He screams as his chakra explodes from his body. His mouth is drawn back into an terrifying snarl exposing his fangs. His hair drifts upwards as veins spread out around his normally blank eyes causing his Byakugan to activate for the first time.

Hiashi, surprised at the level of chakra which Zenoshiki is producing, looks up just in time to see the now monstrous looking boy leaping towards him.

Landing on the desk Zenoshiki gathers as much chakra on his hand as he can and thrusts a palm strike with all his might towards Hiashi's heart. Hiashi however casually grabs the boy's wrist stopping him about 4 inches shy of his target.

However what happens next shocks him. The chakra gathered around the boys hand changes in nature. It goes from the usual base chakra, to an unique one that is extremely rare. Hiashi however remembers this type of chakra perfectly as he had once done battle against someone who wielded it.

'Explosion release!' He thinks to himself in surprise. Before he could do anything however, the chakra gathered in Zenoshiki's palm detonates causing a massive explosion to blast Hiashi in the chest at almost point blank.

The blast causes Hiashi to release Zenoshiki's wrist as he's blasted through the wall behind him. The wall breaks under the stress caused by the explosion and collapses causing a large cloud of dust to rise.

Zenoshiki, still filled with rage and Byakugan activated, lunges towards the dust cloud. From the dust cloud the figure of Hiashi can be seen standing up. The moment Zenoshiki leaps from the desk he is met with a flurry of strikes moving far faster then he can react to.

Each strike pierces him and with a sharp bladelike form of chakra seals off all of his non fatal tenketsu causing him to crash to the ground immobilized next to his brother Neji.

Neji, just now snaps out of shock and realizes what just happened, "Brother!"

He then lifts the half conscious Zenoshiki in his arms more tears than before flowing out. Hiashi however then speaks to him, "Don't worry. Your brother is fine. He just will need a good night's sleep or two to recover. I never expected him to possess not just one, but two Kekkei Genkai."

He then sighs, "I'm sorry." Is all he says to them before turning to Tobias, "Take them back to their room. As it was once their fathers it now belongs to them. Please watch over them for tonight."

Tobias nods, "Yes sir!" Before picking the two up and leaving the room.

The moment they did so, Hiashi melts into his chair tears streaming down his face as he cries silently, "Hizashi my dear brother. Why? Why must you have volunteered yourself? Not even given the chance to say goodbye to your own sons. I will change the Hyuga clan for you. I swear it."
