Chapter 93: Meeting

Naruto rushed back to Konoha as fast as he could, he had no time to waste after all, Konoha was currently extremely weakened, their defenses were down and Naruto sensed hundreds of people die during his fight, most likely civilians but Genin and Chunin could have died as well.

Naruto arrived back in record time and immediately headed to the Hokage tower, or rather what was left of it, most walls had crumbled and a small office was still intact which was where the two elders were located.

Naruto opened the door and headed in, sitting down on the chair behind the desk that was in the room, the elders had already been informed of Hiruzen's orders so they didn't say a single word as Naruto entered.

Naruto sent out a pulse of chakra in a specific anbu code and an anbu wearing a bird mask immediately appeared before Naruto.

"I want reports on the civilian and ninja casualties, I want the files of every prisoner we have brought to me and I need a squad to be assembled and sent to Sunagakure to discuss what happened today, also I need reports on the damage that Konoha has received, we need to start contacting merchants to procure rebuilding materials, for now I will start filling out the papers needed I will call you in an hour." Naruto said and nodded to the anbu member who promptly left, a few minutes later another anbu member arrived with a stack of papers.

Naruto grabbed the first of the many papers and read the words at the top, 'Civilian Casualties' as Naruto read the report he couldn't help but be mad at himself, because of his slow actions 1389 citizens of Konoha died, he then read the next paper, 'Ninja Casualties' in total 245 ninjas of Konoha died in the invasion, 140 of those were Genin 90 were Chunin, 5 were Jonin and 10 were anbu agents, this was a significant loss to Konoha as the Genin and Chunin could have gone on to join the anbu force or become skilled enough to earn the rank of Jonin, there were even some students from Naruto's old class that had died during the attack, they were the ones that had been moved to the Genin Forces upon graduating.

"Ah, Naruto-san if we may suggest something, we would like to hold a meeting with the clan heads to elect a new Hokage, its best to do this as quickly as possible." Homura, one of the elders said to Naruto.

Naruto raised an eyebrow at him and summoned a clone to continue looking through the papers.

"Very well, I shall summon them to the meeting room, I will see you there in 10 minutes." Naruto said and vanished.

Naruto quickly went to gather the cland heads personally and told them that they needed to go to the meeting room in the Hokage tower, which was one of the few rooms that survived the attack.

After 10 minutes had passed every single clan head had been gathered and Naruto entered the meeting room sitting at the Hokage seat.

"Ladies and gentlemen let us start this meeting, Homura has asked me to do this meeting to select a new Hokage, if you have a candidate you may state their name and why you think they would be a good Hokage, after we have compiled every candidate we will vote for the next Hokage, you may start." Naruto said and pointed at Shimura Danzo who immediately elected himself stating that he would be the best candidate as Konoha needed a decisive leader that wasn't afraid to make decisions, safe to say that no one other than himself voted for him.

Hyuuga Hiashi also proposed himself along with Fugaku Uchiha, what shocked Naruto is that Shikaku Nara, arguably the smartest and most intelligent person in Konoha had proposed Naruto himself, Naruto had made it clear a long time ago that he did not wish to be Hokage but if it came to it Naruto wouldn't mind becoming Hokage, it came with a lot of paperwork but the benefits far outweighed the disadvantages in Naruto's minds.

Then it was Inuzuka Tsume's turn to propose a candidate, and it was quite surprising who she suggested, "I think that Senju Tsunade would be a great choice with our current situation, she is an S-rank ninja and a godly medical ninja, she also holds a lot of political strength through her connection to the Senju clan, it would also be a great benefit for Konoha to have her back in the village as we could heal many of our injured ninjas, it would also be a great moral boost to the general populace of Konoha to have the Senju Princess as the Hokage, it would give the civilians and lower ranked ninjas a sense of safety, although I do admit that she may be very out of practice so we would need someone to train her back up to top shape, but I think we all know the person most qualified to do this." As Tsume finished she looked right at Naruto, making it clear who she was thinking of.

The clan heads slowly but surely voted and in the end Tsunade was selected with 6 votes, Naruto only behind by 2 with 4 votes, Fugaku had 2 votes and Danzo as Naruto had predicted got 1 one from himself same with Hiashi.

Naruto nodded "Very well it seems we have come to an agreement that Senju Tsunade is to be the next Hokage, I will personally go and look for her, I will leave a few thousand clones behind to help with renovation and to do my duties as temporary Hokage, I will be back within a week." Naruto said and left the meeting room not giving anyone else a chance to object, there was a lot on his mind and Naruto needed some time away from the village.

He already had everything that he would need with him in his inventory so he immediately set out to search for Tsunade.
