My Thorn Lily

Kally, Kally Kally , hurry up before we miss the school bus , Tiana , my best and only friend shouts and tell me before skipping downstairs to have her breakfast. I am Kally Cruz, a sad and a broken girl.My parents got divorced when I was 5 years and after the court proceedings my mom got custody of me. Even though I was sad that my dad was leaving , I had no option than to follow my mom because my dad didn't want me. He didn't say that to my face though but his behavior and action said it all and I accepted that fact as young as I was because I didn't want to be a burden on my dad. A year after my dad left, mom felled in love with another man and she started giving her attention to him. What pained and broke my young heart the most was that the man also had a daughter whose was my age mate and that girl is very spoiled. So in other for mom to get a solid stand in the family, she gave all her love and attention to my stepdad and stepsister, and I became the unwanted member of the family. My stepdad , who is a rich businessman was always busy so he didn't know of how I was treated, and I know he wouldn't even have cared because I'm not his blood.

The situation went from bad to worse when I started schooling in the same school with my step sister . At the young age of six, my step sis Cassie and her friends started bullying me and when I told my mom about it, she warned me to never tell a soul about it. She said that if I don't want to be thrown out of her life, then I should endure everything that's going on.

After she told me that, I started living my life as an empty shell, with the hope that one day, all this troubles will end.

But sadly ,that dream of mine has always being a dream and I have no hope for it now. The only thing that I feel glad and proud of is being able to befriend Tiana Arenas. The only person who has shown me light and happiness in my dark and bleak life. Before, I met Tiana , I was ready to commit suicide but she made me change my mind and gave me a reason to live.

Kally, are you still thinking of the past. I have told you not to think about those people, the don't deserve it, Tiana says as she enters my room and break me out of my thoughts. Yes madam I'm sorry , it won't happen again, I pout and tell her before skipping out of the room in a happy mood. We go down for breakfast before leaving for school. Tiana and I are in our final year in University and will be graduating very soon. Luckily, we are offering the same course so we talk together to class as soon as we got off the bus. Kally, will you be joining the Quiz club , Jolie the class president ask me as soon as I sat down. No , I won't get the time to participate since the final examination is near and my schedule is fully packed, I decline politely. Okay, if you say so, Jolie sits down to continue her reading. It's good that you are not joining the Quiz team, I heard that , your bitchy step sister is also competing and I know that she will surely find trouble with you the moment you join, Tiana tells me. I smile weakly and continue to revise my note since that's my only way to success.

Time passes quickly and it's time for the last lesson of the day. Madam Kate , the communication lecturer enters the class and we all greet her. Hope you all are doing good, she asks the class. We respond positively and then she brings out the results of our last test. You all did well in the test but there's more room for improvement so backup with your studies. You have less than a month to write the final exams so take your revisions seriously and I can guarantee that you all will pass the exams, Madam Kate tells us. We thank her and go forward to receive our papers as she mention our names. I get my paper and smile happily after seeing that I got full marks for the test. Tiana also jubilated happily because she got a very good score. After getting our papers, we hear the Bell and we pick our bags to go home. But my happy mood vanishes the moment I got out of the school gate as I bump into the person I hate the most in the world.
