23. Bento?

Yuki finally got the chance to place his order.

As he sat waiting for his meal, he sat down and thought about everything that had happened in the last few days. He couldn't help but realise that this day had more happening in it than the previous.

But thinking about his mental state when he first arrived, it surely made sense. (A/N: Right?)

Yuki thought about his stats and brought up his status screen. (A/N: Reminder?)

There was a drastic increase in both his stats and his skills. The only thing he was curious about was the Job tab. Would he gain more Jobs by actually working or were there hidden conditions?

While Yuki was absorbed in his thoughts, he had no idea that a lot of the female customers were checking him out. It wasn't rare to see a handsome man in the area. Yuki however, seemed very...contradictory.

He clearly looked like the quiet handsome type, but he gave off the vibe of a flirt. It was fascinating, to say the least.

It didn't take long for his food to arrive. Yuki ate the gratin with relish. Although the taste wasn't necessarily the greatest thing the best in the world, the meal remind him of home.

Yuki quickly finished his meal. He ordered a cup of hojicha and slowly finished it before heading out.

As Yuki walked out, he noticed that a lot of the customers were also eating the gratin.

'Must be a good dish...' Yuki thought, unaware of the influence he had.

As Yuki walked home, he thought about restocking the house. Although there was surely something to eat, he wanted to make something from scratch today.

With a quick search on his phone, Yuki finally found his way to a shop.

'Tokiwa Supermarket.' Yuki read the sign as he walked in. (A/N: You Know?)

When Yuki walked into the shop, he noticed a crowd was gathering in a section of the store. Not only that, It was strangely quiet around them too.

Yuki walked over to see what was going on. Standing on his tippy toes, Yuki saw that the crowd was watching a staff member pack bento onto the display shelf. (A/N: Is that what it's called?)

Yuki didn't think it was much until he discovered something.

'Half-priced bento?' Yuki was slightly shocked. It was quite a discount.

'Maybe I should grab one for tomorrow.' He thought as he inched closer to the front.

Some of the other members of the crowd had expressions in the crowd as they watched Yuki push forward. While some had looks of concern, others had smirks on their face. Some glanced at him, while others ignored him.

Yuki didn't notice all of these looks. The school day had made him oblivious to others' stares. If he had, he would have saved himself a lot of future trouble.

As Yuki got closer to the front, He noticed that he couldn't get through anymore. The people in front of him simply didn't make any way for him.

"Excuse me? Can I please come through?" Yuki asked as he tapped the shoulder of a nearby person.

The man looked at him before looking away, "Only after he leaves."

Yuki was confused by the response. It took a while for him to figure out who the man was talking about, "The staff member?"

"Sure." The man said in response. Yuki couldn't figure out if he was right or wrong.

It took a while for the man to finish unpacking.

Yuki noticed the crowd tense up as they waited for the employee to enter the backroom.

For some reason, Yuki felt his heartbeat speed up as the man got closer to the door. The feeling that something was about to happen kept growing.

Yuki could see some people's faces change. They didn't have the faces of regular people anymore. There were solemn expressions, worried expressions, even some crazed ones.

A strange thought popped into Yuki's mind as the employee eventually disappeared behind the door.

"These people are heading to war!"

"Aah!"

"Roar!"

The roars of men echoed throughout the store as they began rushing towards the display.

The sight shocked Yuki. He couldn't understand why all of these men were rushing to the displays in such a manner.

Then Yuki witnessed a sight that would forever be imprinted on his mind. The men started fighting.

Some with technique, some with brute strength.

The brawl was a purely chaotic fight.

Yuki could feel his heart racing. He didn't understand why. Why his heart was racing? Why the men was fighting?

Yuki could see finally see the reason for the fight. As one man grabbed a bento, he was immediately intercepted by another. A punch to the head had disoriented the man.

Just as the interceptor grabbed the bento, he was also intercepted by another.

Yuki watched as the men tussled over a lunch box. This sight happened in multiple groups.

"All of this...for food?"

The thought came off as boorish, disgraceful and even barbaric.

And yet, for reason unknown to even himself, Yuki felt drawn to it.

To Yuki, the scene became one he would pursue for the rest of his life

"..How beautiful."

I'm thinking of adding a separate plane where supernaturals would fight and such. Sort of like the abyss from the gamer (I think that's what it's called?) Either that or make it a separate world in general. Here we would have characters from the devil is a part-timer and even high school dxd fight their battles without interfering with the real world. I think this would be a good idea but let me know. I also made a discord for my stories but I have no idea how to run it. Help
