My Path Through the Infinite Worlds | A Wish Fulfillment Fan-fic

I woke up in a dark room. Not just any dark room, but a DARK DARK room. Like pitch black can't see my hands room.

Ahh.

Wait. Nevermind I just don't have hands. Well, I don't think I have a body either.

Great.

Either I'm insane and trapped in my own mind or having crazy hallucinations, or I'm dead. I kinda hope it's the latter. My life was kinda boring and I don't really enjoy the idea of spending the rest of my life in a mental asylum.

I mean there is only so much that a single world can give you. Eventually everything becomes boring. *sigh* My world was too peaceful for my liking, to be honest. I'm not saying that war is fun, but - nevermind who am I kidding, it's quite fun. The victories, the strategies, ahh never gets old. But then again the horrors of war are nothing to laugh at.

*shiver*

I wonder how I did that, seeing as I don't have a body. Oh well. I guess I kinda am a bit insane.

I close my nonexistent eyes and let out another sigh. I hope my consciousness fades soon, I rather not spend an eternity in this abyss.

[And you won't] says a mechanical voice.

I jolt up, well really just me being a bit more alert seeing as don't have a body.

"Who are you?" My voice echoes through the pit of nothingness.

[I am the Wish Fulfillment System, and you, are my Host]

"I see," I say. "So is it a quick transmigration kinda thing?"

[Close, but not exactly]

I let out a small hmm of acknowledgment.

[How are you so calm about this, Host]

"I already came to terms that I was dead or either insane, so having a system isn't that big of a stretch now."

[I see... That is good. We can move on to the first world quicker then. Would you like a tutorial before you start?]

"I'll take whatever you can give me as knowledge is power."

[Good, I like that mindset Host.]

{Starting Tutorial}

[Welcome Host, to the Wish Fulfillment System. This system fulfills the regrets and wishes of deceased souls in order to properly put them through the cycle of reincarnation. You have been chosen from an infinite selection of souls to perform this task. You are one of the many different hosts who are attached to this system. You will go from world to world, fulfilling the wishes of others, this in turn will make you more and more powerful. Eventually, you will either be allowed to rest in heaven or be allowed to roam free of the system with a few restrictions. Since your past is a bit special, you will be starting off without a beginner system. This means that you will have more freedom, but in turn, will not have a system from the typical quick transmigration novels you have read off. The system will keep track of the wishes you have and haven't fulfilled and a basic status of your health and strength. In turn, you are allowed to do anything that will fulfill the wishes of the soul, meaning that you can go ahead and kill everyone in a world to become the strongest if you wish so. But that is not recommended. As the soul of the customer will be given a report of what you do and in turn give a rating of how well they believe you fulfilled their wish. This rating will determine the tier of reward you will get. The rating is from F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, from lowest to highest. Do you understand, host?]

"Hmm," I let what I just learned to sink in for a few minutes before asking, "Can you give me an example of the beginner system and what I will be getting?"

[Of course host. The beginner system while assigning quests to help the novice hosts achieve a soul's wishes. While these quests do give rewards to help their host get stronger and gain more experience, the punishments are quite harsh, sometimes resulting in death in that world, resulting in a penalty for not finishing the wishes of the soul. Your system however will simply tell you how well you have finished a soul's wishes and your health and strength ranking in the world. But as you are a first-timer in this system, even with your past experiences, it has been decided that you will be given a perk of your choosing and the ability to choose your first world and customer.]

"I see. Fair enough."

[Do you wish to choose your perk and world now?]

"Yes." I do a quick recap of what worlds I know off before saying, "Is BNHA an accessible world?"

[Yes Host. In fact, it is a recommended beginner world as it is not too hard but not too easy.]

"True, I can see the thought behind that," I say with an affirmative hmph. "Well then, I'll take place of Midoriya, as I feel like he's one of the easier ones to fulfill. And I might be able to snag the One for All quirk as Izuku. As for the perk, how bout a kitsune quirk?"

[What kind of kitsune quirk?]

"Let's see. I don't want to be too overpowered too quickly, or else I'll get bored out of my mind. Hmm, make it so that I start off with just basic powers after I awaken the quirk like Eidetic memory, slightly better parallel thinking, a foxes better senses, reaction time, flexibility, strength, and stamina. Oh and make me have some fox features as well. From there spread out the powers between every tail I gain. You can choose the powers from the legends in Japan from my earth. But make sure that when I gain the final tail I have some sort of immortality, regeneration, and psychic/elemental powers."

[Are you sure that you do not wish to go into the specifics of your perk? And do note that you will change genders once your quirk awakens, as kitsune are depicted as only females.]

"I'm sure, and I do understand. I always wanted to see what it would like to be a girl." I say without hesitation. "Anyways Life isn't fun without surprises, isn't satisfying without challenges, and isn't worth it without a bit of trust. And I trust you, system."

[I see. Thank you for the trust, host. I won't let you down, but I expect great things from you, host.]

"I will try to exceed them," I say with great determination.

[I look forward to it. Good luck on your first world, host]

As my consciousness fades away, I could see a subtle outline of a woman in the dark. The voice of the system was laced with warmth, and it spread through me as if I was hugged by the grace of mother Gaia. And then, all was dark.
