Chapter 11. A Primary Disaster

A sound of a foot tapping echoed off of the glossy white floor and onto the dull white walls of the small room. Accompanying the ever present tapping was the tick of a plain black and white clock. The "ticks" and "taps" began to form a melody over the three long hours the woman had waited there. She made her rounds, looking from the ticking to her own tapping, to occasionally checking her phone every 20 minutes. She had turned up the ringer to max, even checking to make sure there was no missed call that somehow escaped her grasp. In the back of her mind she knew it was futile, there would be no response from that man, yet hope or maybe desperation kept her persistent.

"It's his son too, damnit," she had thought to herself multiple times that afternoon (or was it night now?) Despite staring at the clock, time became meaningless. Every second that passed was just another second of uncertainty where she was away from her son.

Suddenly another set of taps entered, breaking the melody the green-haired woman had created with the clock. A tall, spikey haired blonde woman appeared through the door. Upon noticing her friend she picked up the pace and the two embraced, forcing Inko Midoriya to finally get up from the uncomfortable waiting room chair.

"Mitsuki, what are you doing here? What about Katsuki—" she began, Inko's throat shaking from hours of crying.

"Shhh… my blockhead of a son is fine, he just had a minor concussion after being thrown from the blast. He's sleeping right now and besides Masaru is with him." Inko looked down at her phone sadly at the mention of Mitsuki's husband. Noticing this Mitsuki sat down next to her grabbing hold of her friend's hand.

"Still no response from him?" Mitsuki asked sadly.

"Why would there be?" She replied. Hisashi Midoriya had left her and her son about a year ago on Izuku's fourth birthday. He left without a word or any indication of where he would be going. Inko had simply told her son he was gone on business, which might have been somewhat true, he did send her checks on money every month after all. But no words from him, nothing at all. Yet even after all of this time she still felt inclined to call him, to be able to have someone else share her burden.

Mitsuki looked her friend in the eyes. "Well until we get any more news of Izuku's condition, I'll wait here with you."

Inko buried her head into her friend's shoulder. She was glad she at least had someone there with her.

About 4 hours earlier, the Number 1 Hero, All Might arrived at a very disturbing place for a villain attack. He was out patrolling when a massive explosion was heard from… a primary school. Taking caution he looked in from a distance to see if there were hostages or anyone badly injured. The source of the explosion was the school yard where a massive crater had formed. The building near it looked like it had collapsed, but he quickly searched it to find it empty. Luckily it seemed to be after school hours so the building was closed, yet he found four children scattered around the school yard. They appeared all unconscious, their light bodies must have just been thrown from the explosion, not taking much damage.

The most horrifying thing to All Might, however, was at the center of the explosion. At the center of the crater there was a dark atmosphere that had formed from a… a boy. Almost like a black fog, this cloudy-like substance swirled around the child. Occasionally bright green sparks bounced from his body to other parts of the fog, lighting up his figure. The boy looked extremely young, 4 or 5, but his face told a different story. The white of his eyes turned black and his irises were a radiant shade of green. His mouth was closed, almost expressionless. But his eyes, they were hungry. It was something beyond anger. It radiated hatred.

All Might was speechless looking down the crater at the sheer amount of hatred which radiated from this small child. The green-haired child then looked up at him, directing all this hatred towards the hero, along with all the darkness surrounding him. It suddenly flew at the hero and in his horror he didn't move.

Then it stopped. Right before All Might's eyes the darkness dissipated. The remaining darkness around the boy shrunk back into his skin like a sponge. His eyes as well, turned back to normal, the milky white flushing out the black. His expression changed to one of shock as his legs buckled underneath his small body. All Might leapt into action and in a flash caught the boy in his arms before he could hit the rocky ground. The boy was immediately unconscious and looked in rough shape. His clothing was virtually gone, what little remained was in tatters and he was unnaturally pale.

"Were you just planning on standing there or doing something about his condition, Number 1 Hero, All Might?" A voice said above him. Looking at the top of the crater was the underground hero, Eraserhead.

"What are you doing here Eraser?" All Might asked looking up at the mysterious hero.

"I was just in the area, didn't expect I would have to do your job for you though," he said in a half cocky, half bored voice.

Jumping out of the hole he carried the boy to where the ambulances had arrived, already taking care of the 4 other kids All Might had gathered there. Eraserhead followed close behind.

"Never seen a kid this powerful," he commented to All Might.

"I have and that's what bothered me," he said solemnly. "As long as you aren't too busy, can you see that the doctors are careful with him. This boy needs some special quirk treatment and I believe you are the only one that can help subdue him for now."

Eraserhead snorted as he climbed into the back of the ambulance, "Oh boy, there is nothing I'd rather do on my off day, but at least now I can say the number one hero owes me."

All Might simply waved him off, wondering what the future held for that boy. Little did he know their fates were so heavily entwined.

Inko Midoriya was awoken by the door of the waiting room swung open with a metallic clang. She jumped up startled, in turn waking up Mitsuki who had both fallen asleep. It was nearly 1:00 A.M.

"You can see him now," a tall young (but somehow still balding) doctor said.

Inko rushed up to her son on the hospital bed. He was sound asleep but that didn't stop her from hugging his sleeping form.

"He won't wake up for the moment, we gave him some sleeping pills so he could sleep better for the time being. Luckily he will be able to go home tomorrow morning."

Inko looked up at the doctor with red eyes, "What happened today doctor?"

The two sat across from each other in the room, Inko refusing to leave her son's side for the rest of the night. Mitsuki waited by the door, not yet ready to leave her friend in case of bad news.

"Well first off your son seems to have activated his quirk for the first time,"

"His quirk?" She asked, confused. "Izuku was diagnosed quirkless only a couple of months ago." The doctor was about to say something but then gave her a confused look and then looked through a couple files.

"That's peculiar, we couldn't find any files on an official quirk diagnosis for Izuku," he said slowly. "Who was the doctor?"

"Dr. Tsubasa, my husband had recommended him. But that's besides the point, what is Izuku's quirk? Is that what happened to him?"

"Slow down, Mrs. Midoriya, there is a lot of information so we should take this slow." After she composed herself he began again, "Izuku has a very rare type of quirk, though he may have been a late bloomer. The quirk is a type of absorption, specifically he can absorb large amounts of energy from his surroundings and then use it to his discretion."

"So you are saying Izuku caused the massive school explosion?"

"Exactly, however it's not just energy absorption and manipulation, but quirks too. He can steal characteristics of quirks from individuals near him, even mutant types actually. We ran multiple tests on him here, activating his quirk to see what it was capable of."

"So that's what took so long," she thought. "I don't mean to be harsh but what exactly are you getting at? Is something wrong with my son? What were all those tests even for? Is Izuku even okay right now?" She questioned harshly.

"For now Izuku is fine, but his quirk is very powerful. It is extremely dangerous to him and others. You see he does not have control over it now, in fact when it's activated it seems like he's not even present mentally. Almost like his quirk has a mind of its own. We performed all those tests to find a way to treat his quirk, meaning a way to prevent him from using it for now."

"You're joking right?" She said, shocked. Looking up at the doctor he was frowning. Clearly he wasn't joking. Izuku had always wanted a quirk and when he was told that he didn't have a quirk he was heartbroken. Now that she found out he actually did have one she almost could call this a miracle. But now he couldn't even use it! She looked up at her son laying so peacefully on the bed. She wondered who was the one to grant her son such a cruel fate. However there was one thing that Inko knew. Her son was a fighter.

"Keep on fighting, Izuku," she thought.

But here it applies to the world of One Piece, I was inspired by the idea and I wanted to apply it to the world of One Piece, and I hope it succeeds, of course, there will be a conspiracy and I will make sure to improve the story according to the readers opinions. ¶¶¶¶¶ As for publishing chapters, it would depend entirely on the interaction the story receives, whether it is 4 chapters a day or 2 chapters or 1 chapter or 0 chapters... It all depends on the readers' enthusiasm for this interesting book. ¶¶¶¶¶ I don't own One Piece nor do I own its characters, all I own is the protagonist, after all, this is just a fanfic without any profit, just for fun.
