I Think It's Unfair

His sister? The woman's eyes flew open in shock! She tried to take a clear look at Emery but Jason won't let her do that!

"I think I mistook her for someone," she quickly clarified. "I'm sorry, Mr. Hayes."

Jason tried to speak up but... Emery grabbed his hand. "I'm fine now. Let's go," she muttered in a low voice.

As rage invaded his whole body, Jason Hayes found it too hard to back down. If the one standing before him was not a woman, he would have already beaten her up!

After he tried his best to calm down, he turned back to Emery. "Alright. Let's go," he said and held the handles of her wheelchair once again, but...

"Mr. Hayes, do you remember me?" The woman spoke up again. "I'm really sorry for what happened. I'm Victoria Page from Page Enterprise. I come to -"

"I'm sure that I don't have an appointment for the rest of the day," Jason interrupted her in the same cold voice. "You should leave if you don't want the security guards to drag you out, Miss Page."

Emery was stupefied by how cold her caring brother could be! It was her first time seeing that side of him but before she could even react, the elevator door was closed.

"Who is she?" She promptly asked, looking up at her brother with curiosity. "Do you know her?"

"I met her at a party once or twice. I'm not sure," Jason shrugged and added, "She's the spoiled daughter of Page Enterprise. Why did she even come to Naviles?" Judging from the look on his face, it was clear that he didn't enjoy talking about her.

When Jason failed to hold back himself, he looked down at his sister. "What did she do to you?" He asked with anger more than evident in his voice.

"She talks like she knows me but I don't understand anything she said," Emery replied. "She only managed to grab my clothes. You came on time," she promptly added, hoping to ease her brother even in the slightest bit. However... it wasn't working at all.

"I should get you a guard," Jason firmly said. "How you get hurt is still not known and nor is your disappearance case. I don't think I'll be able to be at ease after what happened."

"She said she mistook me for someone else," Emery argued yet her voice was calm. "I'll be fine, Jason. Even if I go out, you or Marcus will be with me and the mansion is already guarded well. Don't worry too much."

Jason Hayes wasn't convinced but he didn't say anything more about the incident that was just unfolded. He only started talking again to explain the structure of the company building to his sister.

"You return early because of me," Emery said to her brother who was sitting beside her in the backseat of the car. "Don't you have so much work to do?"

"I already tell my assistant to clear my schedule starting the afternoon," Jason Hayes replied. "The doctor will come to check on you. So, I have to be with you." The scene of her holding her head in pain was played in his mind, making him even more concerned. "Does your head still hurt?"

"No," Emery promptly replied, shaking her head. "I don't know why it suddenly hurt. I rarely feel such intense pain anymore."

"We can ask the doctor about that," Jason said to her in an assuring voice. "Sorry, Emery. I can't even spare you much time while you're this sick."

"You already sacrifice so much," Emery Hayes argued. "I wish to recover soon so that I won't burden you anymore."

Hearing what she said, Jason stared at her for a while without saying anything. Then he finally opened his mouth and said, "I also want you to recover soon but... don't think of yourself as a burden. For me and Dad, you're our everything. Always remember that."

Much to Jason's surprise, his sister laughed at his words. "You shouldn't say that, Jason. You're 28 and it's already time for you to get married. You make me feel like I'm the one who causes a hindrance in your dating life."

Jason Hayes frowned at his younger sister's mischievousness. However, he soon chuckled again when he watched her laughing. "Why do you assume that I don't have a girlfriend?" He asked her, amused.

"Simple. If you have one, shouldn't she already come to visit me?"

Jason Hayes shook his head out of amusement. "Seems like your smart brain is still functioning pretty well," he remarked.

"Then... will you get yourself a girlfriend?" Emery playfully asked and said, "I think it's unfair. I'm 22 but I already have a fiance while you're 28 and single."

"You even worry about my dating life now," Jason remarked with a light chuckle and then nodded. "If you think that way, that means I have to get a girlfriend soon."

Emery observed her brother and gave him a suspicious look. "Why do I feel like you have someone in mind? Did the woman reject you?" She clicked her tongue and shook her head. "That means she has poor taste in men."

Finally, Jason Hayes burst out into laughter. "That's not the case. I have never once confessed to her," he clarified, making Emery blink.

"Why? There is nothing wrong with you."

The young Vice-Chairman sighed and confessed, "She has very high standards in men."

Emery became even more confused. If her brother was below the woman's standard, then who in their country would match her standard?!

"You don't understand, right?" Jason said to her and glanced at his wristwatch. "There is still some time left before the doctor comes. I will take you to one place. I think we will be on time."

Emery nodded with an exciting smile and Jason turned to his driver. "Let's go to Convex Arena."

"Convex Arena?" Emery repeated with confusion written all over her face. "What are we doing there?" She asked.

Jason chuckled and simply said, "Be patient, Emery. You will know that soon."

Despite what her brother said, her impatience was one of her biggest flaws and curiosity was killing her throughout their way to Convex Arena.....
