Chapter 1: Part 1

"Amy? Amy Smithson! Are you even listening to me?" My best friend asked me, waving her hand in front of me, her dark blue eyes were glaring at me dead in the eyes. Realizing her signature glare, I looked down, or took my toes, and managed to let out a few words.

"Sorry Grace." I mumbled. Grace just shook her head and floated next to me, placing us both on the couch next to the game we were playing. Grace was my best friend, and my dorm member. We went to the top school on the Three Homes, which consisted of Mars, Earth, and the Moon, which is where we are now.

"Grace Peter from the Tech Committee, please come to headquarters, section 311. I repeat, Grace Peters from the Tech Committee, please come to headquarters section 311."

"Well, I got to go, see you later! Oh, the paper and pens are in the left drawer near the T.V." She said kicking against the wall and shooted to the sliding doors. As she entered the pin, she looked back and smiled at me reassuringly. I smiled back and slowly floated to the drawer she had told me. I got the piece of paper out and found a pen that could write in Zero-Gravity.

Dear Mom,

Hi it's me, your daughter Amy. Grace and I got to school already and we were playing Zero-Gravity in our dorms. The dark side of the moon is pretty cool, you can see all the stars. We have a great view, but I wish I could still see Earth. Anyway's Maxy's shuttle from Earth should be arriving in an hour. You also barely notice the building moving. I don't get why Dad made this school stay on the dark side of the moon, but I trust that it's for the best. I'll say hi to Dad for you, knowing that you'll ask me to do so in the other letter, but I don't know when I can get the time to do it, considering the fact that he's the principal of the school.

It's pretty dry up here, almost making me miss all the tree's, the real ones on Earth, and not the moon tree's here. The difference is the smell of them. Anyway, Grace is repairing some wires in section 311, and the Newspaper and Student Council Committees start tomorrow. Dad decided that I could lead both clubs so I probably won't write back anytime soon. Say Hi to Auntie to me. And please tell her that I perfected the kick she had taught me.

-Amy

I sealed the paper and called the mail drone. After a while it came back and I mailed the letter to mom. Massaging my wrist I patiently floated to the Gravity Bar and put it to normal Earth gravity. I let my toes touch the floor fist and slowly let my feet feel the floor through the shoes. Sighing, I went to the one seater couch and looked at the stars, the only thing you could see other than the dry craters of the moon.

After a couple of minutes of looking at the stars I let my eyes wander, resting my hands on my lap. My hands began to fumble to my mother's bracelet. My left wrist had my mother's bracelet and my other wrist had my father's ring, which was passed down from generation to generation to the oldest child or the first born male child. It was tradition that you go to school here, and after that, if you have siblings, you could either go your own way to whatever job you get into or prefer, or you could give it to one of your siblings. It was a very complicated line, along with a very complicated secret behind it.

"Amy! I finished checking the wires in section 311. We can head down to the school cafeteria to get some food before heading to our clubs. Is that alright?" I heard my earpiece said. Everyone had one because the school was too big to actually go and look for someone to tell them something. I emotionlessly got up from my seat and glided to the door. Entering the pin with one hand, I put my hand up to my left ear, touching the reply button.

"I'm on my way. But I want to be at the gates when Maxy gets here." I said as the doors slid open, the zero-gravity surprising me quickly. I shook off my surprised expression and went to the moving room.

"Okie-dokie. I'm already here, I'll save you a spot in the cafe line, it's pretty long." Grace responded. I sighed as a response and let the moving room scan my hand. The moving room was basically a bigger elevator, but it moved in all directions. How it was powered was only known by the principal and their wife, or in other words my parents. I still had to come of age before they could tell me as well.

"Hello, Ms. Smithson. Where may I take you?" The computer said. It was programmed to call me Ms. Smithson because I was the heiress to the school and potentially many other great things.

"I told you not to call me that, Amy is fine." I said bluntly.

"Yes, of course Miss Amy." The computer said.

"Lunchroom please." I sighed, brushing off the fact that she had added Miss to my name. Two beeps came and I could feel the room start to move.
