Mercenary's Oddjob

A loud groan filled the giant room with a high ceiling. The sound came from a 10-meter-tall beast. 3 Eyes glowing bright red and fangs filling its entire mouth.

It's head was like a bull's head with only one horn left. It's body covered in thick black fur, dripped with blood from various slash marks all over it's body.

It's left leg was no longer able to move and could only kneel while it's right hand had been cut off, leaving the left hand holding a giant sword that was used as a staff to stay upright.

In front of the monster, there were five people breathing heavily

One is a woman mage wearing a red cloak and holding a wand and lying on the floor. Another one is a woman wearing a blue cloak who seemed to be healing the lying mage. Another one is a large man with no clothes on and smiling broadly as he wielded a large axe even though his body was covered in wounds. Another one is a large man with armor covering his entire body and he was kneeling while holding a large shield.

And the last one who stood at the front, with armor that was no longer intact very tightly but stood tallest while holding a sword staring at the monsters. He was the chosen hero sent from another world to defeat the demon lord.

"Raga, could you do me a favor?" the hero asked his shirtless party companion.

"Don't boss me around, Shouji." Raga retorted while slamming his axe into the floor and crack the floor.

Shouji the hero could only smile a little at his friend's behavior.

"Let's go!" shouted Shouji lunging forward followed by Raga.

"You think you can kill me that easily, human!" shouted the Demon lord in the form of a bull's head monster.

The Demon lord hit the two men so hard that the floor was hollowed out and debris scattered along with thick dust.

When the dust cleared, all the demon lord saw was Raga holding it's giant sword. Raga held the sword with his Axe using both hands while kneeling and severely bleeding.

"My knees can no longer be used, hero!" shouted Raga which made the Demon lord become worried.

Before it could think, the Demon lord's head was cut off by Shouji.

The Demon lord was dead and everyone in the room screamed with joy.

Raga laughed loudly and limped towards Shouji.

"You owe me a lot of beer, hero." Raga said while clamping Shouji's neck with his right hand while pinching Shouji's head with his left hand.

Shouji just laughed at Raga's behavior. "This is the first time you've called me a hero."

Raga immediately released the clasp and pushed Shouji away.

"I... That..." Raga turned his back,"It's only natural, since you're a hero after all."

Shouji just smiled and moved his hand as if there was a floating screen in front of him.

"Status check" Shouji said followed by a screen that appeared in front of him like in a video game.

Shouji smiled, "Not bad."

The sound of slow applause and a rather long pause suddenly echoed and everyone became alert.

"Oi, Hero, I thought we beat everyone." Said Raga who was very alert despite barely standing with his limped leg.

"That should be it. SHOW YOURSELF!" Shouji shouted.

A silhouette approached from the direction of the entrance, slowly, walking while moving his hands in the air like there was a floating screen before him.

The figure was a silver-haired male elf in very peasant-like clothes.

The elf yawned while stretching lightly.

"Good job everyone, now that the Demon lord is dead, we just need to wait for the next one to appear in the next few decades."

"Who are you?!" shouted Raga rather annoyed.

"Oh yeah, almost forgot. Just call me Zhen."

Zhen breath deeply as he prepared to say something as formal as possible. "By the power bestowed upon me from the king himself, I hereby shall eliminate you all."

"Huh? What do you mean?!" shouted Raga.

"The king couldn't have ordered that, you're lying." Said the big man with the big shield.

"Dyil is right, what kind of nonsense are you talking about?" continued by Raga.

Everyone gave the same response except Shouji who was totally silent looking at Zhen. More precisely after this elf's hand movements that were similar to his every time he finished a mission.

"Which kingdom summoned you, you're from another world too, right?!" shouted Shouji making his party surprised.

"Woi woi, you're joking right? Hero summoning can only happen once every 50 years. You mean he's the same as you?" Raga asked in disbelief.

"But judging from his race, it doesn't seem impossible. It's maybe that he's a hero from the past." said Dyil trying to understand the situation.

"Huh? An elven hero? There's nothing like that in any history." Raga replied.

"Well, you guys are very perceptive apparently. Unfortunately I have no obligation to answer any of those questions, because you guys will die here. So please stay where you are and don't move." said Zhen, drawing his sword.

"Nonsense!" Raga lunged quickly at Zhen.

"System status, ability activated, point shifter" said Zhen which immediately made Shouji panic.

"Raga, don't!"

"Point shifter, 65% Agility, 30% strength." said Zhen followed by a quick slash faster than the speed of sound.

Raga's body was cut into pieces and scattered in all directions.

Without saying a word, Shouji immediately dashing forward and slashed at Zhen.

Their swords clashed and produced a shockwave that blew away the ash around.

"System status, ability activated!" Shouji voiced out loud and made Zhen a bit surprised.

"Unique ability, Demon lord slayer!"

Shouji's sword was enveloped in pitch-black flames and he once again did the same, slashing at Zhen.

*Trang!

Shouji's eyes widened at the sight of Zhen's sword which was also enveloped in pitch black flames.

[ Unique ability, Demon lord slayer. ]

That short sentence really make Shouji flabbergasted because the ability he used was something that could only be used by someone who had defeated a Demon lord, and this Elf had just done the same.

Shouji was too busy in his thoughts that he didn't realize he had just been caught off guard and when he tried to refocus, his head had been severed.

Zhen flicks his sword in one swing and Shouji's blood are blown away and splattered on the floor.

"Thanks for your hard work, hero." Zhen said while cracking his neck.

Zhen looked at the remaining party members who were trembling. Dyil, who had been exhausted, suddenly stood up to protect the other two.

"I won't let you!" Dyil's shout made Zhen let out a long sigh.

"Don't worry, I'll make your death as painless as possible."

Dyil dashing forward while drawing his sword but Zhen did not move, he only strengthened his grip on his sword.

With a small voice almost like whisper, Zhen stepped forward.

"Thank you for your hard work..."

"Die!!!" Dyil slashed at Zhen.

"...Hero."

The dark night sky slowly brightened as the sun rose.

The morning atmosphere was very quiet and calm from the empty demon lord's castle.

"It's a good thing I level up my cooking skills. This is delicious." Zhen said while chewing on a biscuit.

He still kept a lot of them in a small iron tray. He ate them while sitting on a stone wall that was no more than 2 meters high.

In front of him was a vast wasteland covered with the corpses of demon troops and human troops lying here and there.

Behind him was a giant castle that was now empty and right beside the castle gate, there were 5 graves lined up. Each grave had something stuck into it as a tombstone.

An axe, a shield, a big wand wrapped around by a red cloak, a wooden staff wrapped around by a blue cloak, and the last one...

The closest grave to where Zhen was sitting, had a sword as its tombstone.
