After the shower she came out to eat.
Nuan Nuan pushed her chair back, her face pale. "Excuse me," she murmured, rushing to the bathroom.
Si Kong sprang up, concern etched on his face. He followed her, his long strides eating up the distance.
Inside the bathroom, he found Nuan Nuan leaning over the toilet, her body shaking as she vomited.
Without hesitation, Si Kong stepped behind her, gently rubbing her back in soothing circles.
"Nuan Nuan, should we go to the hospital?" he asked, his voice low and worried.
She straightened, rinsing her mouth before turning to face him.
A weak smile crossed her lips. "I'm fine, Si Kong. It's probably just the food. I'm not used to it."
Si Kong's expression remained tense, his eyes scanning her face.
They sat down to eat after eating Si Kong gathered the dishes.
Si Kong expertly washed the dishes, his hands moving with practiced ease.
Rinsing the last plate, he turned to Nuan Nuan, who sat quietly, lost in thought.
Their eyes met, and Si Kong offered a reassuring smile.
"Nuan Nuan, everything will be fine now," he said, his voice filled with conviction.
Nuan Nuan nodded, a faint smile on her lips.
Si Kong's gaze lingered, ensuring she believed his words.
Seemingly satisfied, he walked off, leaving Nuan Nuan to her thoughts.
As he disappeared into the bedroom, Nuan Nuan's eyes followed him.
Gratitude and warmth swirled in her chest.
She felt safe with Si Kong.
Like he'd shield her from the bad things of the world.
