Chapter 104: The Stars Representing the True Creator and Adam
At last, it was Sequence 7! Hastur, invigorated, paced around the room twice before opening the window to breathe in the fresh night air.
The greenery project in Queens was well-executed, making the environment here much better than in the West District.
The air was free of the odors of sewage and mixed foods, relatively clean.
After admiring the night sky for a while, Hastur closed the window.
"Feeling this happy today, I must treat myself to some good food."
Hastur left the room, instructing the chef to prepare several dishes, and had the maid deliver wine to the backyard on the first floor.
Drinking alone was a bit dull, and it was a pity that Maric wasn't here. Hastur thought for a moment and called for the butler, Neil, to join him for a drink.
Neil, the butler, wanted to refuse, but couldn't resist Hastur's enthusiasm.
Once seated, Hastur prepared to attempt a bribe on Neil, as a rehearsal for the role he would play later.
Pouring a glass of wine for Neil, Hastur said with a smile, "You've been working here for over three months now, haven't you?"
"Yes, Baron."
"Do you find your work here enjoyable?"
"Of course, Baron. You have a good temper, never arbitrarily scolding or hitting your servants, and the pay is generous. The daily demands are few, and you've given me a great deal of freedom and power."
Neil spoke frankly, without any concealment.
He understood that the Baron valued his honesty.
Never to deceive, he had made it his top priority to adhere to this rule.
Hastur pondered for a moment and asked, "Do you have any aspirations for your future work?"
"I hope to continue working here for the Baron until my old age."
"Good, as you know, I'm always generous to my own people. If Neil stays here, I will pay a sum sufficient for your retirement."
Neil's usually calm expression finally showed a hint of change, but he still suppressed his excitement, thanking Hastur for his kindness.
The bribe was successful.
Hastur's eyes narrowed, feeling a special sensation emanating from Neil.
An invisible, illusory chain was linking him to Neil.
This was his fourth extraordinary ability, Link.
With Link, he could exert various influences on Neil, such as imposing a series of negative emotions.
He could also weaken him, but since Neil bore no malice towards him and was not an enemy, this ability could not be demonstrated for the time being.
Hastur tried to exert some influence on Neil, increasing his sorrowful emotions.
Neil, who had been trying to keep his emotions in check, took a large gulp of wine and said with a sorrowful expression, "I must confess, Baron, I've always been worried about my retirement because my son is so disappointing that I dare not pin all my hopes on him."
Eh, is the effect this pronounced? Hastur was inwardly shocked but maintained a smile, saying, "If you don't mind, I'm quite willing to be a listener tonight."
With that, he poured another glass of wine for Neil.
Neil sighed and said, "I've always worked diligently, allowing him to enjoy a decent education from a young age. But his academic performance was poor, he often talked back to teachers at school, and even learned to fight and brawl, never taking his studies seriously."
"After he left school, he was arrogant and always dreamed of making a career for himself. I supported him in venturing out, but he ended up losing a lot of money, achieving nothing."
"He doesn't reflect on his lack of ability; instead, he blames this and that, as if the whole world is wrong in his eyes, and only he is right."
"Recently, he's been in a bad mood, making many friends who drink, going out to play all day, with no ambition."
"Alas, although I still have some retirement savings, I always worry about how he will take care of himself when I'm gone."
Neil spoke with emotion, his eyes slightly reddening, and he took another full glass of wine.
Seeing the surprisingly good effect, Hastur did not continue.
He dissipated his influence on Neil, allowing him to recover from his sorrowful and sentimental state.
Neil looked at his empty wine glass, stunned for a moment, his face turning red as he recalled what he had just said.
"Baron, I've never been good with alcohol, I've made a fool of myself."
Neil was anxious and uneasy, and no matter what Hastur said, he refused to drink another drop, insisting on finding an excuse to leave.
Hastur let him be, enjoying a little wine and tasting the food by himself.
After finishing the wine, he returned to the bedroom.
Hastur glanced at the time out of habit; it was just past eleven, a good time to check out the new changes in the Hall of Stars.
He went to bed and into his dream.
The Hall of Stars.
Hastur sat at the head, surveying the changes in the Hall of Stars.
There were two major changes: a new chain of order and three newly lit stars.
He hadn't yet decided on what rules to set, so he left them be for now, turning his gaze to the three newly lit stars.
As he focused, the stars magnified in his vision.
Each star twinkled with its own distinct light.
One was the brightest, radiating a blinding white light, like a white dwarf star.
Another star's light was very faint, forming a stark contrast with the adjacent white dwarf star.
Hastur observed carefully and realized that the faint light was more like ripples of nearly colorless transparency, formed by the convergence of multiple spatial ripples.
The last star was quite interesting, clearly divided into black and white gold colors, similar to the yin and yang eyes of the Taiji diagram. The colors were distinct yet intermingled, like a state of separation and coexistence of yin and yang.
Hastur was most interested in this star and focused on it first.
As he watched, the scene within the star appeared before him.
In the black area, there was a black abyss below, with a mountain situated on it. At the peak of the mountain stood a cross, with a man merged with the cross in an inverted position.
In the night sky above, there was a curtain of shadows, and behind it, a pair of eyes encompassed the fall of all creatures.
In the white gold area, there was a clear figure.
He wore a simple white robe, with a light golden beard covering the lower half of his face, eyes as clear and innocent as a baby's, and a chest adorned with cross pendants, like the most ordinary priest in a church.
When Hastur's gaze fell on Him, He seemed to notice, lifting His head, His pure eyes as if piercing through endless time and space, meeting Hastur's gaze.
Hastur exchanged a glance with Him, then withdrew his probing gaze.
His fingers tapped rhythmically on the tabletop, murmuring, "It's actually the True Creator and Adam."
In fact, when he saw the image of the inverted man, he had already guessed the identity of the True Creator, and the subsequent appearance of Adam only confirmed his speculation.
The two different lights displayed by this star indeed reflected the current true state of the True Creator and Adam.
Humanity and divinity, separated yet connected, for they were born as one.
Now, two of the three pillars of the universe had awakened in his domain, leaving only the star symbolizing mystery still dim and unlit.
"Mr. Fool, now it's just you left."
Hastur chuckled softly, turning his gaze to the other two stars.
The brightest star, like a white dwarf, became increasingly bright and dazzling, blinding Hastur's entire vision with white.
It was a bit too much to bear, too bright.
This feeling came mainly from within, not an actual discomfort.
If he wished, he could keep staring endlessly.
But he instinctively moved his gaze away; who would keep staring at a light bulb non-stop?
When he looked at the last star, the multiple spatial ripples reacted as if sensing the probing gaze, resisting in their own way.
Hastur found it quite interesting and continued to watch the star from a proper distance.
At this moment, his relationship with the star was like… holding a smartphone and watching the characters in a video.
The owner of the video could only see the view count increase by one, not knowing who contributed to that view.
In this way, He could not trace back through the internet to find Hastur.
The spatial ripples flickered continuously, indicating that the being represented by the star was constantly traversing time and space, trying to shake off the feeling of being watched.
But He probably didn't realize that Hastur had installed a radar on Him, allowing Hastur to find Him in any part of time and space at a moment's notice.
Thanks to the power of the Hall of Stars, Hastur could also glimpse the worlds surrounding Him, making Hastur even less inclined to disturb this being, preferring to travel through the depths of space with Him as He shifted spaces.
"If I were now a wanderer of the pathways, I would only need to keep watching this being, and I could probably easily digest the potion and advance," Hastur mused, his gaze lingering on the mysterious being's star.
