Scarlet's P.O.V:
Poor Dill , no one should ever feel like their parents don't want them because parents are the single most important thing in a child's life ,they are the ones who are there for the child since the very beginning .
Closing to kill a mockingbird , I kept it aside on the bedside table since I had enough sad moments for the day. Now I may sound like a total nerd but god do I miss the school's summer homework !
Well the school days are over and now I’m going to start my college in one week and I’m really looking forward to it .
Having nothing to do I got up and fixed myself a snack of Doritos and salsa sauce , healthy eating just isn’t in my dictionary. I looked at the clock and it was 10 at night now and my mom was still not home . As if on cue my phone dinged indicating I got a message , I picked it up and saw it was from my mom.
Mom: Baby boom, there was a big accident due to the slippery roads so the ER here in the hospital is a havoc , they need all hands-on deck so I’ll be really late tonight, if you get hungry then order pizza , the money is in my drawer. Love you, goodnight.
Me: Okay sure mom , you go help save those people and stay safe . Love you.
As I was about to close my phone my best friend Sasha messaged me .
Sasha: hey gurl you up ?
Me: yep
Sasha : good cause I am at your door , open up.
I shook my head smiling to myself walking towards the door and opening it but as soon as I opened it , Sasha literally tackled me to the ground.
/"hey! Long time no sees!/" I groaned and stood up. I think I just dislocated my shoulder.
/"Aren't you the right person to be giving a warm welcome/" I said , sarcasm dripping from my tone.
/"Oh thanks gurl , all this warmth for you/" she said , giving me an annoying grin and I just fake glared at her.
/"yeah right/" I said rolling my eyes she is always pain in the ass but she is my pain in the ass.
/"I am famished . What do you got ?/" she asked heading straight for the kitchen.
/"There is nothing in the kitchen mom didn't get a chance to make anything today but she left money for pizza so we can order pizza and mean while I got some Doritos in the lounge we can snack on it and watch a movie /" I said
/"Yea sure sounds like a plan/" she said .
We ordered pizza and started watching a movie and not long after the pizza delivery guy was at our doorsteps with the pizza.
We were about halfway through the movie when I got a call from my dad .
/"hey dad when are you coming home , are you gonna pick mom with you ? /" I asked
/" honey I need you to get to the hospital as fast as you can /" my father said like he was about to cry.
/"DAD , ! Hold on , tell me what happened are you alright , are you hurt ?! /" I said in one breath getting worried by each second .
/"honey I am fine it's your mom , she got into an accident I’ll explain later just come here as fast as you can /" and with that he hung up before I could say something else .
/"Sasha we need to get to the hospital fast , it's mom she got into an accident ! /" and without questioning me anything else she took out her car keys and we both slipped on our sneakers and we drove off.
As we reached the hospital I saw my dad standing in front of emergency door.
/" how is she ?/" I asked my dad feeling the urge to cry .
/"I don’t know baby the doctors did not come out from the emergency /" he said hugging me and soothing me.
/"let’s hope for the best /" he said hugging me .
After an agonizingly long wait a team of doctors came out of the O.R . There were a lot of doctors, that doesn't seem so good...
/"How's she doc?/" my dad asked quickly getting up with me right behind him, anxious for an answer .
God please let it be good news , I am not prepared for any worse news, please let it be all good. I prayed in my heart.
/"Mr. Anderson , you should know we did everything we could , the damage was just too much , we're so sorry/" The doctor said .
I went numb.
All moments with my mother , the happy , the sad , the celebratory all of them flashed through my mind like a movie .
Then started my water works, the pain was too much .
/"oh honey , I am so sorry/" my dad said hugging me like his life depended on it.
/"Dad she is gone, it’s too early for her to be gone/" I said between sobs.
/"I know honey I know/" he said crying himself
Sasha joined our hug as well , she herself was crying . My mother was like a mother to her as well. She was the warmest person someone could ever meet . She deserved more , this short life isn't fair to her , she deserved more dates with dad , she deserved more time with me , she deserved more happy moments to take with her and leave with us , she deserved more I love you from her family, she deserved to have more time on this earth, she deserved so much more for nursing all those people back to health and most of all my dad deserved to be with her more , we both deserved to be with her more . This may be god's big plan but it’s not fair , it’s just not fair.
That night was a miserable night , for all of us , the tears just won't stop, the despair and the pain just won't come to a halt , everywhere my eyes went , there was mom and it wasn't making anything easy. No one should go through this pain , I just wish there was an off switch.
