A young man got reincarnated in a parallel world similar to Earth. But not long after, he will discover the existence of superhumans, mythical beasts, mad scientists, and the like.
Blue Star, a planet in the shape of an oblate spheroid and having roughly x2 the size of Earth. In this planet exists nearly 200 countries and one of those is the Filise country.
Filise is an archipelagic sovereign state in Southeast Axiom consisting of nearly 2,000 islands spanning 180000000000 square kilometers of territory. It is divided into three island groups namely Lipanbon, Virgeorslands, and Mosauan.
In the northern parts of the national capital region, on North Celorias, in a classroom a lecture was ongoing as students listened attentively to the teacher, except for one.
"Mr. Valdez, it seems like you are now proficient in using English to not listen in today's lesson, yes?" The teacher said with a tone dripping with sarcasm.
The young boy who the teacher addressed, Valdez, snapped out of his daze and retracted his gaze from the window, looking at his teacher before nodding in affirmation.
Alas, his honest reply only further infuriated the teacher.
"So it seems that your scores in the next exam is assured to be high." The teacher said with a scary smile, eyes closed.
"If Mr. Valdez already knew it and is advanced in his studies, I suppose that testing your spelling competence wouldn't be going overboard."
"If you correctly answer my questions, I will give you an A+ directly to your card," the teacher stopped and her eyes opened with a menacing gaze, "If you don't, then I'll directly fail you in my subject."
Valdez didn't seem to take her words seriously and just nodded, which further added to sour the teacher's mood.
'This student, I do not know how he even got in the last year of middle school. Lazy, blank notes, and rarely passing activity sheets, what a bad student.' The teacher thought.
She planned to fail him in her subject using this excuse and hopefully make him drop out of school. His disrespect and disregard to her presence really got into her nerves in the past months.
"You need to spell the word 'Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis' and if you can," she said calmly with a faint smile, "give me what it means."
As soon as she said the words(?), the students in the classroom knew that he was in deep shit. What is that word EVEN! Heck they didn't even know that a word like that existed. They are middle schoolers for god's sake!
Unfortunately for the poor souls of the students, what Valdez did next broke their common sense and general world views.
" 'PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS' - A disease caused by the infiltration of volcanic ashes in the air ways (respiratory system)." Valdez said lightly with a sleepy face which frustrated the teacher.
"T-That is correct. Last one, just spell Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia."
"HIPPOPOTOMONSTROSESQUIPPEDALIOPHOBIA - ironically the name for fear of long words." Valdez said.
She's now speechless after he spelled it correctly. Although she can't accept it, a promise is a promise.
"Class dismissed, expect your English grade to be A+ directly to your card Mr. Valdez." She then left the classroom.
After the teacher left, the students discussed about what Valdez did. He answered the teacher's absurd questions that prompted her to dismiss the class early. But even then, the topic itself is back to staring outside the window making it hard to approach him.
He is Jaunne Ignacio Valdez, known as the silent and chill guy of the class. He is known due to his quiet behavior and handsome visage.
Sleek black hair as dark as the night and bright blue eyes reminiscent of the azure skies. A lazy bishounen, that is me.
But there is one thing that they don't know about me, including my few friends and family, and that I am a reincarnated person.
After dying from being crushed by steel beams as I passed by a construction site, I woke up as a baby. But after I slept, I lost my memories again and only regained them when I was three years old, which thankfully spared me from baby problems.
Although I lived in this world for years now, there is still one thing that I regret. Where is the games I used to play, the movies and anime I used to watch, the manga and novels I used to read, and the music I used to listen to.
Valorant? Gone! One Piece? Didn't exist! Tensei Dai Nana Ouji? What is that? Marvel? Is that food? Centuries, Haunted House, Enemy, Hall of Fame, Rap God, etc? They. All. VANISHED!
This being a different world probably, no, definitely is the reason why those works are absent here, which is a real bummer.
As someone who is a self proclaimed NEET, I can't endure not having— *Sigh* I'll stop my rant lest I fill this entire chapter with my ranting.
(A/N: Did she just do a meta? Must be Deadpool's fault.)
Hmmm...
(A/N: Shit! *White noise* )
Oh, where am I again? Right, my world evaluation monologue.
This world didn't have the media works from my previous life , but this didn't mean that ACGN didn't exist entirely. There are many works original to this world but me being from a culture rich world found them stale. Only few managed to pique my interest.
*RIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGG*
I snapped out of my daze and picked up my bag before leaving the classroom. I pretty much didn't have any friends in school as I am not a social type of guy, so I just went home alone.
" . . . "
"I'm home." I greeted no one in particular as I opened the door lightly. There's no one home as usual.
During weekdays, my parents are in their own respective jobs only coming home by midnight. My elder and younger sister on the other hand probably just came to school by now. Their class scheduled in the afternoon and only ending by 6 pm. In short I am pretty much alone for the whole afternoon which doesn't bother me one bit.
I went to my room and as soon as I entered, I saw a familiar sight. Crumpled papers scattered about, drafts stacked up my work/study table, and the multiple artworks of mine posted on the wall.
One of the things I still did in this life with passion. Even without them existing in this world, I drew and painted the many characters and scenes I saw in my past life. Zero Two, Mereoleona, Power, C.C., Kocho Shinobu, Sakuya Izayoi, Raftalia, Nico Robin, Elizabeth, etc... but now that I think about it 98% of them are female characters, I wonder why? Maybe it's because of that...
Anyway, I kept this hobby of mine to relieve my boredom. Even though I tried the things this world offered, they are still incomparable to the works of Eiichiro Oda and the like. I also considered remaking them in this world but I didn't have the chance yet, or maybe I'm just lazy.
*sigh* Throwing these thoughts to the back of my mind for later, I place my bag aside and crashed to my bed.
"It seems that I grew to be lazier in this life. I'll take a quick nap..." I said before closing my eyes and drifting to sleep.
" . . . "
"-nne. . . Ja. . . unn. . . Jaunne! Jaunne, wake up!"
"Ugh..." I sat up and rubbed my eyelids. I feel a little bit disoriented and unbalanced after sitting up but I chalked it up to me just waking up to be the reason.
I opened my eyes slightly and saw Jane, my elder sister. It seems like I slept longer than expected.
"Why did you wake me up, sis? What time is it anyway? Is it time for dinner?" I said while rubbing my eyelids, still feeling sleepy.
"Ow!" I held up my head in pain, Jane bonked me in the head making my scalp tinge.
"All you think about is sleep and eat, you idiot. How many times do I have to say to not forget that you need to drink your medicine? Look at you." My sister said in annoyance as she held a hand mirror in front of me.
Her words woke me up completely and I looked at myself. Seeing myself in the mirror, it seems that I forgot about that again.
"Oh shit, here we go again."
