MYSTERIOUS MALE

The day was gloomy, with rain coming down pitter-patter outside, dripping from the rooftop of 'Seri' convenience store.

There was only a single soul in the store, standing behind the cashier with her face hidden behind her black hair. There was a hint of pointed nose and full lips from the side view.

She was spacing out to the point she did not hear the bell came from the door, telling her there was a customer with her.

A carton of milk was being placed on the cashier, pulling Kris into the real world. Her eyes moved to look up at a smiling, yet mysterious silver haired male. She looked down again at the milk, a strawberry milk.

"The price is RM3.." she said, unenthusiastically, scanning it and put it back down. The male went to take the milk quickly after, which made their skin contact and she immediately pulled away, although not giving much reaction.

He smiled nervously.

"See you again." That was the last thing she heard which she did not put any mind into it, before he left the store.

When she confirmed she was alone, again, she raised her hand, staring at the fingers that was 'accidentally' touched the man.

They were trembling.

What was happening ?

Kris took a deep breath, held it in a few moments, before letting it go slowly.

Nothing to be worried about.

It was already at the time to close the store, and her boss gave her the duty to close the store and keep the keys, as if she was operating the store by herself.

She picked some groceries that she allowed to take by her boss, putting it in her grocery bag before she left the store.

It was dark outside, and she was alone. It had always been that way as long as she remember.

Walking alone in the dark, assisted by the light of the street lamps, one of them even blinking.

She already used to the place, making it clear to her that there would be no one that would try to harm her.

No one, except some vicious looking gargoyle flying in the air, eyes were bloody red while glaring straight to her.

That moment, her whole body were paralyzed to the point she did not noticed she had let go of her grocery bag from her hand.

The gargoyle kept glaring at her, until a hint of smoke coming out of its mouth, a bright magma appeared as it opening its mouth.

"Look out !"

She felt herself being pushed down onto the concrete ground, arms were securing her from getting any injury from the magma that went straight to a building, shattering the bricks.

Not minding the saviour, she turned around like a whiplash and looked at the hole it made in horror.

"Stand up, stand up ! We have to run !" She was forced to her feet by the help of the stranger and was pulled together into a run. Lucky her, she loved to pair herself with sneakers wherever she goes, so it easier for her to run.

The sound of flapping wings by the gargoyle following behind made her stomach churn, but she was too scared to think of anything.

The gargoyle began to charge another magma, and sent it towards her that went straight to the ground, causing explosion that sent both her and the stranger flying to the empty road from the pedestrian walk.

The saviour, bearing a silver hair, coughing at the cloud of dusts that surrounding him and Kris. He immediately regained his composure and looked at her in emergency.

She was groaning in pain, and that when he saw her jeans by her right shin was ripped due to a scratch and blood coming out of it.

He clenched his teeth and turned to glare at the gargoyle that kept flapping at the same spot. He clenched his hand, a vein popped out on his temple.

A glistening light, flurry of icicles forming on his hands before he strike it to the ground. Ice began to form on the road, making it ways toward the gargoyle that began to panic. It started to scream but was shut down completely when the ice trapped it mid-air.

Forgetting about her injury, her eyes looked up in disbelief of what she was witnessing. Everything was happening so slow in her world as she watched the man panting in front of her.

An unfamiliar image came before her eyes, the same haired male standing before her, protecting from an enemy that was blurry in the background.

Who was that ?

And that place.. she never saw that place. It seemed so.. unreal.

The place was covered with ember of fire, soaring into the air while also surrounded them in a circle. Her body shivered remembering the image.

Why does it bothers her so much ?

"Are you okay ?" Kris snapped out of her mind when she saw the man approaching. In reflex, she slapped his hand away when he was trying to help you.

"What.. what are you ? What the hell was that thing and what is actually happening here ?!"

"Shh.. Calm down.." he calmed her down, telling her to take a breath and release it. She did as been told, although she was still stubborn to look at him in the eye.

He watched as she was obviously contemplating whether to look at him or not, which he silently chuckled.

In the end, she decided to look at him with a grumpy look, the only face she can do after a poker face.

"I told you I'll see you again."

She freeze momentarily as she remembered his words before leaving the store. She watched as he was fishing for something and held it up, the strawberry milk he had bought earlier.

"Will this be a good token for a day with you ?"

Her eyes widened, staring at him in confusion.

How.. ?

Slowly, she took it from him and looked down at her favourite drink.

"I want all your time tomorrow to explain everything you don't understand up till now."

It took her a few seconds, before she looked up to him again, eyeing him expectantly.

"Everything ?"

A smile formed on his handsome face, staring straight into her eyes.

"Yeah."
